hey! i love your video and i have been working for ac for a while, just for clarification the M on the safety cart 737-8M means Maritime, wich are the airplanes equipped with life rafts in the ceiling compartments! i know its a very small thing but i tought it was really interesting , if you have any weird questions like those feel free to ask away!
We flew the Max on AC from YVR to LAX a couple weeks ago, had preferred seats (I actually think it was 13 A and C) and it was the most comfortable flight in recent memory. Quiet, comfortable cabin with great pitch and tons of leg room, great windows too. Flying business class next month on the Max again to LAX, and back in business class on the A220. Interesting to see how they compare.
Good job Air Canada for deciding to install seatback IFE screens. WestJet will regret not doing the same, especially since they're using their Max aircraft for several transatlantic routes.
1:56 Story time: a few years ago I worked at WestJet which meant I got flight benefits, including buddy passes which allow family and friends to fly standby (meaning they only pay taxes, and basically fly any seat that is empty). So I took my family to France to visit family, and had a wonderful time. I went back home early because of work but they stayed longer. However, when it came time for them to come back, it was a nightmare because they all had different orders of priority making it difficult to keep my parents and brothers together. They managed to get to Halifax, but from there every single flight back to Calgary or Toronto were full to the brim. Eventually (after several hours) a CSA told us it'd probably be easier to go to YVR and then go to YYC, which is what they did (and turns out they took the exact same plane for both legs). We never flew standby again lol. TL:DR sometimes it's easier to do weird connections than waiting for a plane to have the seats available. Or sometimes it's cheaper. Or you're an avgeek and love flying and airports!
Recently, i flew alone after about 10 flights flying with someone by my side. (14M) and i flew from YVR-YEG to visit my grandpa and got on a 737 max 8. And i have to say, YVR IS THE BEST LOOKING AIRPORT IN THE WORLD
I've flown the max (pre pandemic & since) both Air Canada & Westjet. While never a 737 fan due to the density of Westjet's seating configuration, the Max is noticeably quieter than previous 737s & the preferred seating is comfortable & gives plenty of leg room. I'm 6'2" so not as tall as you but I do appreciate leg room. Thanks for your report.
When I fly, I fly real coach. I would much prefer the original A320s with 32" seat pitch over Air Canad's current "densified". The 15 hour flung to Syndey is hard enough but I wouldn't do it on AC,s new "densified" 777 cabin with 10 across seating reduced seat pitch. You are lucky to always fly in better-than-coach.
My daughter flew Air Canada MAX 8 couple of weeks ago YVR-LAX, and was very displeased. Very cramped she says. And she usually does not notice/comments about aircrafts she takes.
hey Alex!!! SUPER HAPPY to see a new trip report! Like always, a great production. I flew the WestJet Max from Ottawa and the bulkhead on that was very good! Surprised to see that row 12 on AC MAX is limited in some extra leg room (ELR) but great to know! The aircraft looks good, I enjoyed it from YOW. Maybe I'll give AC's MAX a try. Thanks again for an awesome report! Please keep 'em coming! Cheers!
The Max was one of the aircraft that broke my traditional norm of only flying dash 8s when I flew to Montreal during YTZs closure, and I have to say other than a very smokey start creating a weird smell the flight was very enjoyable. Although due to it being a Dreamliner on the way down for some reason, the experience was diminished.
I have flown the max a few times now and agree that it’s a great ride. The regular seat pitch is worse than the A320/1 but marginally so and tolerable. Will pay for a preferred seat on my next flight YEG-YYZ to try it out….Thanks for the great reviews Alex 👍🇨🇦
I have been waiting for you to post about Air Canada's 737-8 MAX. I flew between Toronto and Halifax on October 16 and 30, and although I was apprehensive because of the stories, I was more apprehensive about the full flight on both occasions, even Business Class!! I flew Business to Halifax and I was impressed with the space and service (you still get a full meal on a 2 hour flight). I flew Economy back to Toronto and the seat is not too tight, even though I sat next to a "larger than average" size person. The entertainment offered was VERY impressive, even having international films (in the past, international films were available on flights to that foreign destination). Overall I was impressed by the plane and it was SOOOOOO good to be flying again. I really missed the "romanticism" of being in an airport, the anticipation of going on vacation, and the sadness of coming back from an amazing trip. Your trip report is bang on about the MAX, and I give you a thumbs up! Note: I had to roll my eyes about how far the flight was from Toronto, and I am from Toronto...
For Me I Love seeing Air Canada's Boeing 737 Max 8 Planes coming in & out of Toronto to Barbados including there Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners too which is Awesome but I do will like to see Air Canada's Airbus A220-300 Jet Series since they start flying from Montreal to Guadeloupe,Jamaica & Turks & Caicos even The Bahamas is next on the list as well so I hope Barbados well be next on the list.
I was on a 737 Max in Turkey just before the 2 terrible max tragedies. Just didn't get this is a well built plane feeling compared to other boeing products. Still will not fly one if I can.
For me it's a moral choice of not supporting a company that put profit over safety. Flown 12 round trips since the 2nd crash and not once on a Boeing. Found my new favorite aircraft avoiding Boeing. The A220 is fantastic. Dammm we designed a great aircraft, so sad it had to be given to Airbus but aleast it was a slap in tge face to Boeing.
@@thearsenalmisfit2414 well airbus is putting profit over safety. Every company does that nowadays. Guess what their aircraft are now safe and you don't need to avoid Boeing. Just avoid aircraft if you think companies put profit over safety.
@@nickolliver3021 Not to the extent of Boeing which lied to the FAA , the airlines , the pilots and the flying public. They put me and my family on a Max for 2 four hour flights that were flown like all Max flights at the tine with undertrained aircrews that did not know enough about the aircraft they were flying. The pilots needed proper simulator training and MCAS information in the aircraft manuals not a 2 hour tablet course to fly the aircraft safely . The Max I'm sure is totally safe but as I said it's a moral choice to avoid Boeing just like it was a lack of moral choise for Boeing to do what they did and kill 346 people. Throwing a test pilot under the bus and bribing public prosecutors with high paying jobs doesn't cut it. They have learned nothing .
@@thearsenalmisfit2414 we know Boeing messed up and lied to tbe FAA, pilots and flying public. They put? Ypu put yourself on a max when you booked your flight for that duration. But actually they weren't untrained because it never happened to that aircraft. Yes they did indeed need more training on MCAS. The MAX is totally safe of course but a moral choice means that if ypu think aircraft are unsafe as tbe a320 series of aircraft develip problems and airbus lieing etc and hiding things from the bubluc concerns you in tbe future maybe just dobt fly ever because flying may become an unsafe way to travel just like the rest of the other methods. Airbus killed more than 346 people with the a330. Boeing have learned something and that is to not let this happen again and look where we are now. Avoiding Boeing is totally not worth doing. Boeing aircraft have got people to and from destinations without problems or people refusing to fly. Perhaps try not to overthink about the wgo situation of what Boeing did by going down the route of putting profit over safety just like other companies do.
I recently flew on this aircraft, it is a terrible plane, tiny bathrooms, skinny hard seats, small windows and noisy , I hate this plane, we were suppose to fly on the new A220 airbus ( Bombardier)
