Hi Mark, Thank you for taking the time to do this series. It's exactly what I need to improve X-Plane 11's ATC function. Your videos have probably saved me hours of frustration. Excellent work!
Mark, thanks for piloting this series together. I was looking at P2A and your series has helped me make my decision to give it a try. As a RWP who has not flown PIC for over 20yrs, I’ve been looking something between default ATC and Pilot Edge. As comfortable as I once was with comm I simply don’t find Pilot Edge or VATSIM the places I want to use to get back in the saddle with ATC comm.
Hi...first, thanks for your time and effort in making these videos. Small point of clarification...at approx. 42:37 you state that the IAF is the "Intermediate Approach Fix". Well, just so you know, IAF stands for "INITIAL Approach Fix", while IF stands for "INTERMEDIATE Fix. This info is in the bible for all pilots, the Aeronautical Information Manual.
Thanks for that John. Yeah, I get mixed up on that all the time. I have it straight in my head right now but by tomorrow morning I'll have it mixed up again. I should at least get it right on a video though! Glad you've pointed it out.
You are so right about Sky Vector. I have tried all the sites out there recommended by the flight sim community and always end up back at SV. It does not have the Xplane integration others site do, well since it's real of course, but it by far has the most detailed information and charts. SimBrief is nice for building flight plans and generating the reports but just not my cup of tea. I think it's a bit of a personal taste sort of thing. I recently made the move to Little Navigraph and for me it touches all the bases except for the maps. I just hop over the SV when I need one. The Xplane integration is real nice and building flight plans is easy. The best thing is how customizable it is so you can set it up the way that works best for you. Anyway, I downloaded P2ATC to test it out, but have not tried it yet. I was waiting on a video like this one so I could try it before I made the purchase. I'll be watching the entire series. Thanks man.
Thanks Alan. For flight planning, I don't think you can do any better than P2A. What's so nice about it is you don't have to go anywhere else to build your flight plan and you can transfer the plan into your GPS almost automatically. Hard to beat that. SV is still the place to go for Approach Plates and airport diagrams.
Thank Mark I have been having a hard time to get this to work with the cirrus sf50 and g1000 This video has give more info.Did you have trouble at first?
Hi David. I'm not following you. When you say "get this to work", are you referring to P2A? If so, the aircraft type and equipment on board is not really relevant other than maybe setting transponder, baro, AP, etc but certainly providing guidance and normal ATC operations should not be affected by what aircraft you fly or the equipment on board. Hope that helps.
Your videos are greatly informative! Thanks! However, it would be better if you could speak louder and faster, that would make the whole thing easier to listen to!
Yup, it's my old hillbilly accent. I'm trying to speak faster but it's not easy. Hopefully my latest video is a little better Thank you for your support!
Mark Fletcher I’d also love to see some more videos with Pilot2ATC with a more realistic approach! Keep up the good work and I hope to see better vids coming soon!! Thank you for your time!
@@markfletcher4579 I like your accent and cadence! But to each his own. Nonetheless, your videos are very informative and easy to follow! I subscribed after watching your first video on P2A! Thanks!
Mr fletcher Im using the demo trying to get used to p2a , I don't have access to any charts I wonder if I'm doing something wrong or if as a demo you don't have access or do I need a full subscription to navigraph to access charts . Thank you for the great educational videos , enjoying them very much
No, the charts should be available to you in the demo version. Sounds like an internet connection issue. If you can't get it resolved, I suggest you contact their tech support to help you get up and running. Dave is very helpful. You might want to visit their tech support web site too. Good luck!
Thanks again for the videos I have learned a lot.Question have you had any issues with Pilot2atc and xplane with SQL .If so how did you overcome it?I have been in contact with Dave at p2atc and can’t get it to work.If you had issues could you make a video to help others as this seems to be a common issue. Thank you
Mark watched this several thanks .At 30:20tthe pointer is close to an arrow that is curved in a box.Is that to add or take away a procedure turn or holding pattern?Again thanks hope you put more videos on.
Hi David. I guess your referring to that "race track" on the approach plate!? Yes, that is both a holding pattern and a procedure turn. ATC may have you hold at that point if someone was currently landing and they wanted to give him separation. It is also used as a procedure turn if your entry angle to greater than 90 degrees. If you load this procedure in your gps, the race track will turn megenta and the autopilot will actually guide you around this pattern. Test that out and you'll see how it works.
