This was a very nice review, not even considering your age, it was just pleasant. Well in depth, no exaggerations, I hope to see this channel thrive in the future!
Great trip report! I am flying on the Jetstar 787-8 from SYD-HNL on Monday so it was cool to see what the cabin looks like. I will also be making a trip report and it will be my first trip report so I hope everything goes to plan. Keep up the great work!
Another great review, Hugo! I really enjoy how you take the time to give detailed information about the airport and airline before each trip report. You were fortunate to have an international Jetstar flight that pretty much ran on schedule - my brother took this exact same route on Jetstar on Christmas Day - and after 2 hours waiting at the airport after scheduled departure time, the flight was rescheduled to the following day, making them lose a full day of their holiday. Safety first, but this seems to happen regularly with Jetstar as you say. I too look forward to the international Qantas lounge at Tullamarine to be renovated - it sure does need it! The rest of the recent renovations there look pretty good though. Jetstar pretty much is exactly what they claim to be - a no frills, low cost carrier that will get you from point A to point B safely. I personally usually opt for Qantas to get the full service, but the meals you got on this flight looked pretty decent and very similar to what you would get on Qantas (even though you have to pay extra on Jetstar). Were you able to get Qantas status credits and points on this Jetstar flight (ie - was this included in the fare you paid?). Once again, I look forward to these Saturday evening uploads. Happy travelling! ✈️
Thank you so much! I’m happy to hear you enjoy the detailed information I try my best to give. Yeah I was! That sucks! The thing is with Jetstar that it’s not like the delays are uncommon, and they don’t handle them very well. Yeah me too, but Qantas don’t fly to Vietnam. I wasn’t able to get points unfortunately, because I booked it under a JQ flight number through Qantas’ website as a starter fare, even though I paid a premium to book through them… Thank you so much again!
When I flew Jetstar for the 1st time last May from Honolulu to Sydney (my 1st time flying on a long haul flight that is 10 hours in 2023) and 4 days later, I flew JQ505 to Melbourne on the Airbus A320 (1 and a half hours), the plane took off and arrive on time and the flight is good and okay.
Also, was there anyone behind your seat? Im asking because I picked the exact same and It will be a 11h30 hour flight from HNL to MEL and I want to recline as much as I can 😂
I’m so glad I could help! Thanks! Not for most of the flight from memory, as I did mention I believe they only sell those seats on a full flight, otherwise it’s used for crew which was the case on my flight :)
Great reviews mate, keep it up. Jetstar remains a personal favourite with some of the best customer help services I’ve experienced. Price point is hard to beat compared to over paying for Qantas or VA for an average experience. Great video.
Considering the price the product is quite good but I would fly Vietnam airlines. I wish Qantas would start this route. However, i’m surprised you used the economy check in line, when I flew Jetstar 787 with Qantas gold I was allowed to use the business class line.
Thanks for this very clear & helpful video. You have done a great job of giving all the details people need to assess if a particular flight may suit them. Best wishes for success with your channel (from a new subscriber!)
thank you for your review! i think jetstar is trying to make up for all those cancellations & delays. I see so many aussie influencers working with them to promote travel. keep up the great work on youtube! 😊
Perth here. I miss Royal Brunei, they stopped flying to Perth. It used to be my family's airline of choice to SE Asia with competitive fares and good cabin service.
Amazing video! I recently flew JQ39 to Bali onboard Jetstar’s A321neoLR, and it was a very bad and uncomfortable flight. However, I’m going back onboard the 787, and it seems like the flight would be much better!
Thank you! Yeah I can imagine, I probably will at some point but for now I’m trying to steer clear of long haul flights on the JQ A321neo… Yeah the 787 is wayyy better.
A few years ago we flew to Indonesia with Jetstar and were happy with the service. Adequate seating, prepaid meals and luggage and when we added extra luggage on line after some shopping there was no problem checking in with the extra luggage.
It was a great deal, but since I had already paid for extras and had lounge access, J decided it wasn’t worth it for me since I don’t have a lot of money.
Great review, I had 3 questions. 1. Can you watch your own movies off USB drive on the screen without paying the extra $10 or do you still need to pay? 2. If it does work any special format files need to be in that you are aware of? 3. Do the seats in row 10 with extra leg room still have access to a movie screen? I couldnt quite see in your video.
Thank you! I have no idea about 1 and 2 sorry, I haven’t tried doing that. As for question 3, I believe there are probably IFE screens in the armrest. Sorry I couldn’t answer all of your questions.
Thank you! Not particularly from memory, but my baggage would’ve been under the limit. Thank you! From memory the seat recline was okay. I would’ve mentioned the recline in the video.
Thank you for this video! Looking at booking your exact seat for a long haul from Honolulu to Melbourne. If you had your choice, would you stick with the row 12 seat in the "mini" economy section or take the bulkhead seat in row 23?
You’re very welcome! Awesome! I’m sorry for my late reply, for me that’d be a tough decision, if you’re tall I’d say take the bulkhead seat (because I assume it would have extra legroom), but for me (who is definitely not tall), it’s a harder decision but id probably take the bulkhead seat as well because of the extra legroom if it’s 23A, I suspect during boarding row 23 may be a little annoying to be in because if the plane boards through L2 door then people will walk past you, but with 23GHJ I think there’s good chance people will hang around there to wait for the toilets. I’m not really too sure though haha
Jetstar Pacific was the king of delay in Vietnam before they changed their name to Pacific Airlines :) I'm not sure if Pacific Airlines is still late that much now, but in my last experience, they were... At least Jetstar have IFE on their 787s, not many things to kill time but much better than Scoot 787s who don't even have IFE. The legroom is also quite nice too.
