The reservoir is nestled in a stunning valley surrounded by dense bushland, making it a great spot to go bushwalking or just relax and take in the views.
The reservoir is the main source of water for the region, providing drinking water to over 70,000 people in the local area. It's also popular for fishing, swimming, kayaking, and other recreational activities.
The reservoir is comprised of two dams, the Upper and Lower Fitzroy Falls Dams. The upper dam is the larger of the two, holding over 35 million litres of water.
The reservoir is fed by two creeks, the Calfarra Creek and the Murumbung Creek. Both creeks flow from the nearby escarpment and then into the reservoir, providing a steady supply of water.
