If you haven't figured it out: The service for Shinzo Abe happened Sept 27th. This video is a few months old, probably held to slow down the internet sleuths. Coincidentally 🤔 the Golden State Warriors and Washington Wizards played two preseason games in Japan Sept 30th and Oct 2nd. Edit: The real tough question for the internet sleuths is how Kelsey stays so thin eating all that VIP food. "A few push ups and pull ups" - what about 400 after that cheesecake?

The shortest 747 flight I remember took less than 6 minutes from wheels off the runway, to wheels down on the runway. I worked at the delivery center in Everett and someone forgot to remove the pin from the nose gear. We saw the flag attached to it when the airplane went by on take-off.

That is why I said often, the pre flight walk around , same with commercial road vehicles, are just so much show biz. Basically if you have not flown a month, a week, you walk around to be sure the fuel truck did not back into your tail the day before. The elephant in the room that no one noticed , for both land and air vehicles, the pilot/driver are not trained mechanics and do not have tool and shop to check the vehicles. Home builders do have an advantage in knowledge. It is difficult to make it mandatory for drivers to bring a flashlight and a pen. I can point to several accidents the co-pilot should have seen something. Pilots make a big show looking into the intakes of 737 for debris, but I never heard of one asking for a zoom boom to check the number 2 engine intake of a DC10/L1011 after maintenance. I am forced to conclude , it is OK for those engines to swallow a wrench.

A testament to how respectful and law abiding are in Japan. A friend on a very busy and tiring trip, on the express train from Tokyo to Narita forgot to put his laptop back in his bag and left it on the next seat. He realized that at the security screening and reported it to the airport help desk. They immediately contacted rail services to try to intercept at the next stop or in worse case till it reaches back to Tokyo. In many other places, someone finding a forgotten laptop on a seat in a train, you could kiss it goodbye. But not in Japan, someone already submitted it to the lost&found or train personnel. And my friend received it back from a security guard on the next train stop.

On another channel, the reactor was reacting to a anime movie about Japanese life. The reactor was confused about a lot of things. First, that the Japanese are exceedingly polite. Second, just because a young Japanese woman dresses up in a cat costume and hands out cards for a "Meow Meow club" doesn't mean that she is for rent or that anything explicit is going on at said club (it was a club for playing with cats). The reactor was also confused about the Japanese diet. I took martial arts for 15 years and my sensei was Kodokan trained (the Kodokan is to martial arts as Harvard is to higher education). Anyway, she took me to a "clinic", a facility in New Mexico, where the Kodokan was replicated in almost every way (meals, training, etc.) for a week. To say it was educational is a huge understatement.

Many people all over the world return stuff to Lost & Found. Whether the actual owner is found depends on many factors, like whether the item is labelled or traceable to some one. Having said, I am impressed by the fact that bikes can be left without any fear of them being stolen. I hate the bike thieves we have here in Canada, and they deserve no mercy in my humble opinion.

I'm glad you enjoyed your sports team charter. Years ago when I was a flight attendant for American Airlines based out of NYC at the time I was sitting ready-reserve at LGA when a few of us got paged by crew scheduling. Crew scheduling told us that we had to deadhead to CLE and pick up the Cleveland Indians and fly them to Canada. I remember the crew scheduler telling us for the "male flight attendants" to stay in the galley. Now, this was back in the mid 90's and I'm figuring that if that comment was made now that it could have landed that person in hot water. Anyway, we got onboard and they had all this custom catering food that we had NO place to stow. Everything was so last minute and thrown together. We had ice cream bars with no dry ice and no place to securely stow. It was such a horrible experience. During the safety demonstration (we were on a MD-80) the players had boom boxes blasting and some of them in the back were smoking... YES SMOKING. We pretty much were told not to ripple the water. I do not even want to think about how many FAA violations we made. By the end of the flight none of us even cared whether they were seated with their seatbelts fastened or even that the overhead bins were open. They were the most disrespectful people I ever encountered during my years at AA. However there was TONS of really good food (including melted Dove ice cream bars) that were delicious. Oh and they asked for a bag so they could dump the contents of the entire liquor carts in. Don't these dudes make millions of dollars? I guess that's why, huh? All in all the reason we chartered them was because at the very last minute the Cleveland Indians’ own jet had a mechanical and they wouldn't be able to fix it in time to fly so they put them on ours.

Hi Paul, I was an FA with Air Canada for 10 years and we had the charter contract for the NHL Ottawa Senators. We'd either pick them up and fly them somewhere or go get another team and fly them to YOW. Being a typical Canadian male, I was a huge hockey fan, That is until I started doing those charters, and I did a lot of them because I was a brand new purser and thus low man on the seniority list. No one else wanted them. With very few exceptions, they were the most ignorant pieces of shit I have ever encountered. It made me wanna puke listening to them talk about how much their fans mean during an after game interview, when I had just flown them and watched them abuse FA's and take ignorance and entitlement to entirely new levels. It took me a decade to regain my liking for the NHL.

Been there. Was sitting reserve for CAL out of EWR and was called for a sports charter. We ferried a 727 from EWR-LGA and picked up the NY Jets and took them on a ridiculously short flight up to PVD. With that said, their coach at the time ran a tight ship and wouldn't allow them any alcohol and basically must have put the fear of God in them so they behaved. But the abundance of catering for a 25 minute flight was obscene. Lobster tail, nosh bags, those Dove Bars (no dry ice either), salad trays, sandwiches, etc., etc. It wasn't a bad experience but nothing I'd want to do on a regular basis. We did have FAs (called them charter groupies) who bid these trips purposely. You could spot them in the concourse. TIGHT uniforms, skirts way too short, 6" heels. You get my drift....LOL

My brother Danny has traveled all over the country. He goes back over 40 years with the classic rock band Foghat, Blue Oyster Cult, and was a drummer with Mitch Ryder for 5 years back in the mid 80's. They flew to Germany to record an album back then. He had some frequent flyer miles saved up, and flew me with him from Detroit Metro to West Palm Beach for a show. The band covers practically all expenses from there, hotels, food, "beverages." I've been to a few places, but never out of the country. Watching you on these videos brings back great memories. When Foghat was in their prime, they told my brother about some "crazy" stunts that their pilot would do for them if they asked. I was thinking about all the exploring that you do on layovers. Like yourself, I still absolutely love what I do for a living. We’re so fortunate to work in the aviation industry. I’ll be on the lookout for you if you ever deadhead commercially on United, I’ll make sure to have some extra snacks for you! 😊 Stay safe and well.

nice relaxing video. coming into SFO as a passenger is a bit spooky, because of the way the runways extend into the bay. looking out the side windows, all you see is water until you're inches above the runway.

Tokyo has changed a lot in the (almost) sixty years since seeing it for the first time. Some things haven't changed though. The politeness of the Japanese and their fastidious attention to cleanliness are two of the things that have endeared me to them for many, many years. I love and respect them. The two years spent there were, undoubtedly, the best in my long life.

Good job, Kelsey! I really loved your vlog. There is some influence of the Monthly class we both took in the beginning of this year and I am very happy to see it has paid off for you. I love flying and aviation, but I used to be a very nervous flyer, every single bump or weird sound scared me. Since I've been following your channel, this has improved a lot. I love the way you share information with us and now I really enjoy flying. Some months ago I was flying on a short-haul flight within Europe and I was chatting with a lady sitting next to me and she got really scared and nervous when we hit some bad weather shortly before the landing and the "rock'n'roll" started... I continued talking to her and I repeated some of the information that I heard from you: don't worry madam, the pilots are very well trained and they have plenty of options like doing a go around, landing on a different airport... and most importantly they want to get down on the ground safely as much as we do. So I'm pretty sure they wouldn't do anything that would compromise the safety of the flight. I probably sounded as an internet-taught wise ass, but it helped and she calmed down and we continued to discus other stuff despite being thrown around like on a motocross bike. Thank you, Kelsey! Looking forward to your future videos. Keep the blue side up! Your classmate from Casey's class, Rado

That walk around an almost abandoned Tokyo had to be on a Sunday, when all the frenetic salaried types bail out of the city. A wonderful time to take pictures. Those remaining are generally in their Sunday best, especially the children. I spotted Richard Branson once near that temple in Narita. At the time, he owned a nearby restaurant. That short 29 minute 747 flight from Narita to Haneda would've taken about 2-3 hours by taxi or bus on a weekday, back then. Likely more.

I was in Japan back in the early 80"s as my father worked for GTE back then and he was working on the elephant radar up in Misawa Japan on or near the airbase. One of the things I remember even though I was a kid at the time was that in the small town Misawa, I remember seeing the people wash the ground outside their stores along the road in the morning before they opened. and How tidy and clean everything was. That's one thing that just stuck in my mind and I'll never forget, another was the bus system where you took a ticket when you get on and then it tells you how much you have to pay depending on the stop where you get off, so ya pay at the end of your ride and not the beginning that was cool too.👍 (Food was great too!)

Had one of my most memorable flights on a regional flight in Japan - Tokyo to Osaka on a single class, 600 passenger 747 "commuter" flight. What made it memorable was that I got a window seat with a perfect view of Mt. Fuji as we passed by as the sun started to set - spectacular sight! Japan is an amazing country and with an amazing culture.

Back in the late 70's we visited Egypt. On our departure from Cairo the plane took off to the south, then made a long right turn going west, then north, around Giza. With the plane in an extended turn and tipped to the starboard side I had a perfect view of the pyramids and Sphinx from my window seat from what I would guess was about 3000 feet.
