Quite a gallery, and no trespassing. Excellent record of a fabulous day. What people forget is that events like this are exciting for (most of) the railway folk as well ....
Great video of the Flying Scotsman there. I’m glad that it returned to its rightful place on UK rails. On Saturday, September 20,1969 the Flying Scotsman traveled through Wilmington & Newark,Delaware where I was living in at that time in Newark. I had missed seeing the Flying Scotsman. I would have loved to have seen it that day, but other matters happened that day.
I saw the locomotive at San Francisco when it was on tour in the USA. My thought was how very small it is compared to American practice. I now realize that the loading gauge imposes great restriction upon equipment dimensions.
ive captured it at ashchurch and there was a little bit of audience out there to see and ive seen the network rail staff and police officer on site to keep the crowd away from the tracks
Brilliant video Derek. Nice to see The Flying Scotsman. As you said lots of people there. You captured all the action there, but not the final departure.b Great days filming. Kind regards C&A
Why is he crawling? This isn't the London to Edinburgh express. This is a railtour sightseeing service where people like to travel at a leisurely pace and take in the sights enroute while relishing the fact that they're riding behind the most famous steam locomotive in the world.
