This squirrel has been watching too much Looney Tunes! First thing I thought of was Bugs Bunny feigning his dramatic death scenes to upset Elmer Fudd, like this scene from 1940. (Dramatic death scene starts at 0:40) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_mvsx3bDw04.html
I like how it’s smart enough to figure injury=attention but not smart enough to realize every time it checks it’s owners reaction it ruins the lie. I love it.
Poor dude has heard so much yelling from Karen he believes it's worth the shot. Animals in captivity learn different rules than the ones our in the wild.
@@ifalone im not lying… he literally laid like he was dead on the floor by some ketchup and even got some on him… even if dogs can’t pretend let me have some fun thinking he was god
I think the greatest thing about cameras being everywhere and them being so readily available is that we get to observe animal behavior like never before. It's amazing to me how some appear to be way more intelligent smd creative than most of us could imagine.
@botondlengyel2877 Lol. On the phone's keyboard the "s" is right next to the "a" and the "m" is next to the "n". It was an honest mistake. If I was gonna tell someone to "smd" I wouldn't abbreviate it.
I like to watch Explore's live African cams at night to relax me and it's fascinating to see how some of these animals (like elephants, monkeys, and hippos) React to each other and behave. They have personalities and are very smart.
I love how in the beginning he seemed to be surveying the area around him for plausible things that could fall on and “kill him” so that he could play dead
This is one of the most unbelivable videos Ive ever seen. How can the squirrel be so smart? I never doubted animal intelligence but this is above all levels.
Well very few know but those squirrels worked for a long time in the insurance industry prior to developing this skill. This explains a bit why they're so smart, you know
...you'd PROBABLY be surprised at how OFTEN "playing dead" out in nature has SAVED prey from becoming dinner for predators. This little guy just added a lil' flourish to what is actually a quite natural response for MANY little critters. We wouldn't be surprised if it got the idea from watching SO MUCH tv with it's pet...aka the woman shooting the video with the tv on in the background.
@@CitizenPain69 Why would I be surprised, it is a common thing. But has any animal ever been seen using tools while playing dead to enhance the effect? Thats the crazy aspect of it. Why would the squirrel arrange the broom as if it fell on him. From watching tv?... I hope you were merely joking and you dont seriously believe it..
@@gloryshadow8710 Maybe they give him tickles in that position and he is trained to put the broom there for the tickles, belly rubs or snacks. So he's waiting for them.😊
Squirrel: "ohhh i'm hurt, ohh my neck, my back. My neck and my back ohhhh i want a hunnid n fifty thousand or we can settle out of court right now for 20 nuts" 😂😂😂😂
"I need about tree fiddy.." That's about when I noticed this cute little flying squirrel was actually a 10-foot-tall creature from the cretaceous period! I said; "Get outta here, Loch Ness Monstah! Go make your own damn money!"
hi Borzah, what do you think about all gubments drawing a line around you(Antarctic Treaty) and saying you are not allowed to leave? If you don't know what I mean, read my about tab.
Okay. When I first clicked this, I thought the title was of course the human being like haha look it fell and now he isn't moving. Therefore playing dead. No this lil dude legit MOVES THE ITEM TO HIS NECK and then pretends to be dead. 😂 I can't
@@JLar-bb5hlbut we are also animals? I personally am in favor of sentient pronouns and inanimate pronouns because I think that gendered pronouns don't really make any sense. Gendered pronouns cause confusion when referring to non-human animals where the animal's sex isn't obvious or when referring to sentient machine intelligences.
The way that it brings the broom handle up to its neck is a sign of intelligence. It knows the fatal area is the neck, and not the body where it originally put the broom handle. And then it puts it back on its body so it would be more believable that it can’t get up.
Now that is TOOOO funny! That squirrel deserves an academy award nomination! Its also funny when he looks up to see if it's working! The adjusting the broom to the neck move got me also. That one smart squirrel you got there!
They work the same as our brains. We're all animals, but mammals in particular have a better brain-structure for learning and retaining information. They key difference is our "languages". We can't speak dog or whale so we can't gauge their intelligence. We also have to note that many Human behaviors that are seen as normal aren't always the most intelligent ways of doing something, hence why we're so destructive to everything around us yet we can travel into space and the deepest parts of the oceans. Religion has ruined our relationship with other animals, because according to the bible animals were only made for our use and consumption, and don't have souls like we do. Then God said, “Let us make humankind in our image, according to our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the wild animals of the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth.”
I’m sitting here wiping tears! The poor baby was trying to make sure there was an audience! Please give this baby a script b/c it’s already acting better than most folks on tv 😭
I have a different take on this. I don’t think he’s playing dead. I’ll bet his owner gives him belly rubs with that broom. He’s gotten so used to it and this is his way of saying, “Brush my belly!”
🤣 This is the first time an animal has ever made me burst out laughing. Ive chuckled and thought some animals did funny things but the way he put the broom on his neck and then went straight to "ded" really got me 😂
In my experience those are usually people that follow Abrahamic religions. They believe that animals were put here for us to control and use as we desire, and they believe that animals don't have souls. Remember how the Bible says; Then God said, “Let us make humankind in our image, according to our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the wild animals of the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth.” It's that way of thinking which has set us back in the field of animal research and understanding. For thousands of years nobody could care less about if an animal had thought, self-awareness, or felt pain. Only over the last few hundred years have Humans really been interested about the inner-workings of another animal's mind. I'd imagine if we spent more time thinking of them as equally important as we are, we may even have been able to decipher animal languages by now.
I'll add that my tuxedo cat is smarter than most people that live around me. Small rural towns are nice but have the downside of being occupied by a lot of ignorant and hateful people.
@@StrangeScaryNewEngland 100% correct. We have more than enough proof that they are able to love and live with the same system as humans have. In fact, they still follow the same circle in the jungle of having kids forming packs etc. A lot of humans don't do that anymore. So for the religious people, are they more human than us? We need to at least accept that they bleed and breathe the same as us. The whole "plants are alive too!!" argument is often used to desensitize people so they continue to follow the religion of the government which is Christianity (at least in most western countries). It's just sad.
@@StrangeScaryNewEngland Well I'm willing to bet your cat is more empathetic than most people too. Their love is unconditional. Sure cats can be murderous sometimes but they never act upon their impulses 😁. I'd rather be friends with my dog alone than anyone around me to be honest.
I can watch this over and over again! This isn't a squirrel, it's a 3 year old child in disguise!! Though how it made itself so very small for a child is a mystery we'll never solve.
@@johndor7793 my guess? It probably thinks that the human will give it more attention if the human thinks its died. So it's trying to act like it's squished so that the human nurses it back to life.
I've rarely laughed so hard, it's so funny that I almost spit my coffee across the table. The Oscar goes to.....flying squirrels for "Die Hard". Thank you for this laugh, I'm a fan from now on. 😂
@@interdisciplinaryhumanitie894 The squirrel's name is Momonga, the same as the protagonist of the animated series Overlord who is a remorseless villain who commits countless atrocities. But fans of the series forgive him and make excuses for his behavior despite all the terrible things he does.
