IT-Castel Beseno (talora indicato come Schloss Pysein nei testi di lingua tedesca[1][2][3]) è la più grande struttura fortificata del Trentino-Alto Adige. Situata nel territorio del comune di Besenello, in provincia di Trento, attualmente è una delle sedi del complesso museale del Museo provinciale del Castello del Buonconsiglio.
All'interno si trovano ampi spazi, porte fortificate, bastioni, cortili, mura maestose, cantine e cisterne, e numerosi affreschi (in gran parte rovinati dalle intemperie). Si gode una vista su tutta la Vallagarina e a strapiombo sul sottostante Rio Cavallo.
Nel periodo estivo il castello è sede di manifestazioni culturali e turistiche. Si raggiunge sia dal centro di Besenello che dalla Strada statale 350 di Folgaria e di Val d'Astico.
Le prime notizie certe riguardo a questa fortezza risalgono al XII secolo
ENG-Castel Beseno (sometimes referred to as Schloss Pysein in German-language texts[1][2][3]) is the largest fortified structure in Trentino-Alto Adige. Located in the municipality of Besenello, in the province of Trento, it is currently one of the seats of the museum complex of the Provincial Museum of the Buonconsiglio Castle.
Inside there are large spaces, fortified doors, bastions, courtyards, majestic walls, cellars and cisterns, and numerous frescoes (mostly ruined by the elements). You can enjoy a view across the entire Vallagarina and overlooking the Rio Cavallo below.
In the summer the castle is home to cultural and tourist events. It can be reached both from the center of Besenello and from the state road 350 of Folgaria and Val d'Astico.
