You may know this by now, but watching other videos of the plane, the Heading Mode is pull (down arrow) to go to heading mode, turn to select then you have to pull a second time (down arrow) to command to turn. Seems a lot is one pull and then a second like the Auto flight for take off one to set and second for TOGA etc. Not sure on the ILS as you said it was set correctly - I think though you need to press the APPR/Land button above Autoflight to set (what is effectively the Approach mode etc?) just a thought. Seems an interesting plane to learn, hope to get one day. Maybe a few bugs and tweaks needed still to be worked on but like most new planes and especially complicated old school ones, most issues I would have is user error - some very good YT vids about to help. Hope you enjoying the new planes.

You can arm NAV and PROF on the MCP and it will engage them when you hit AUTOFLIGHT. The correct engine start sequence in 3-1-2. After lining up, hit the AUTOFLIGHT button once, this will arm autothrottle. Then advance power to 70%N1, and AT will kick in. You can tell A/T is off because the TO annunciator on the PFD is circled in white, this means you are in control of it. If a mode annunciator is not circled, the automation has control.

I had figured all of that out except the start sequence :) Interesting that 3 is first - I wonder if the MD-11 follows other airliners in that the right engine feeds the hydraulic pumps (and therefore the brakes). There's an interesting accident report online of a Boeing rolling into the tractor during start-up on a stand because Engine 1 was started first, first thing on a morning - resulting in no brakes :)

The PMDG MD-11 was for FSX, it quietly got sidelined and didn't even make it to P3D. They did a JS41 JetScream as well, same deal. Both of them were very good. We long time PMDG fanboys are hanging out for a PMDG DC-3 seeing as how Rob owns one ...

Heard a lot of people saying that this plane isnt worth 80 dollars and there are many problems. Could you recommend it in its current state?

I'm famously optimistic about aircraft in the sim :) I like it - but like I said - my bar is quite low. Some people seem to invest inordinate amounts of time bashing anything and everything - I don't :)

I have viewed many bad reports on this one for the P3D version. People are saying it's not worth the $80. Please tell me what you think? Assuming maybe, your not using P3D now. Dave Taylor

Well, today TFDi kicked me out of their discord because I wouldnt agree that the plane doesnt have issues. They tell me two days ago that my issue was a “known issue”. Today Fabio tells me that he doesnt have the issue. I said its either known or it isnt. Back and forth….finally I said “well, I guess Im not waiting for a fix, so I will give the plane away”. They then proceeded to tell me it was against their rules etc. Im tired of devs like this. Release an $80 beta, then dismiss the issues its clearly having. It isnt any better, or more reliable, than the E-Jet series, and yet we were charged a high price by a company with an attitude. Im done. Will just stick with companies like Fenix and iniBuilds
