My uncle was a test pilot for the Vampire and other aircraft. He crashed one and walked away. He tells funny stories about the incident. I have his log books and photos of the crash site. His first flight was in a biplane. His last as a pilot was a supersonic fighter plane, which tried to kill him but he had heard it might, so he fixed the situation. He died in his bed in his late eighties. RIP Uncle Bert.
It would be nice if they could swap engines with a modern fan. Such as the JT15 in the early Citations. Similar power, but probably a massive job. A fan pulls in so much air the inlets are probably too small. And if they were enlarged it would probably change the appearance so much that it wouldn't look right.
