Hello. I always find your tutorial videos very helpful. I am wondering how I can teach my bird to flap wings (not big eagle trick, which I managed to teach how) while peraching. It would be great if you can make a video teaching that trick. Thanks☺
Hello! I have a 2 year old cockatiel named Atlas. Atlas is currently my only bird, and I am considering getting another bird as a companion for him. Do birds only bond with other birds of the same species, or could I consider getting a budgie or GCC? Hopefully Atlas also could meet a potential new bird before we buy them to make sure they will get along.
Comes down to the individual, many birds are able to cooperative with different species but it is important to match their personalities and species typical habits. For example a caique can be extremely rowdy with its play which wouldn’t make it safely compatible with a more docile cockatiel as their roughhousing play could harm the cockatiel or a miscommunication could cause a fight. In either regard there’s never a guarantee that two birds even if the same species will get along, as individuals they choose who they like and dislike.
I got mine from the aviator harness folks! It’s called The Trainers Pouch size “the pocket” www.aviatorharness.com/shop/p/the-original-trainers-pouch-tp9ng If you go through the aviator website you can use the code FLOCKTALK to save 10% on it!
In this case I’m using a 9.5inch diameter ring, I wouldn’t start too much smaller than that to allow for wobbliness, mistiming, and other potential mistakes while they learn the timing. Over time you can theoretically go down to a ring as small as they are when the wings are tucked plus an extra two inches for height changes in flight
