You can use onze douze etc for the runway designation when they are a bit of a mouthful. For subsequent visitors Quiberon's approach from the North can have a quite significant bump as you pass the peninsular as the air from the water either side meets. Thanks for reminding me about some great locations, Regards, Clive

Great trip - Loved seeing Dinard again - I went there on my qualifying cross country from Rennes in 1976! And later took girlfriends there for lunch!

A "this is why we fly" adventure. Excellent! With a modest ferry tank my Musketeer could fly across the Atlantic. Self-preservation suggests it might not be the best idea.

Hi Jon! EASA should introduce a new official sign for all airports stating 'No Dilly Dallying on the Runway!' love it. What a great way to spend ones time, looked great and what a lovely looking location. Think your flying is infinitely better than your French accent tho. lol. More people should take the plunge and fly in Europe. ATC also sounds very helpful and you feel less of an inconvenience than over here. Haven't seen the hat yet! Great video, Keep safe. Stu

Looks like you had great fun, good to see you getting out and about, my flying has been somewhat curtailed this year and not all of it due to the 'rona! It does look like a lovely part of the world might take a while to get there in my latest steed the humble Cessna 120. I think the last time I saw a muti-person pedal bike was on "Chuckle Vision" 😆

Probably wouldn't take very long. I was lucky - this trip had been in my diary for 10 months, and it coincided with a break in coronavirus restrictions.

Enjoying the trip and the mini series with you Jon. Looked like great fun. Always nice to fly out with mates but I think I might have had to sleep on the beach at that price! :-) Two steering wheels on the four person peddle bike must have been interesting.

Nice video Jon. I enjoyed flying in to La Rochelle a few years ago in my 2-stroje flexwing but they didn't accept non-transponder aircraft. We ended stopping off at Les Sables D'olonne to finally get through to the tower and get permission for a formation flight in, my friend in his eurostar struggling with S bends to fly as slow as me! I can recommend flying in to Belle Ile off the coast from Quiberon, lovely island, harbours, hire bikes to get around, etc. Dinan is another nice town on the Rance estuary, very old town, nice flying club.

I've done Quiberon 3 times from jersey. It's tricky with a short runway especially if you are on finals over the houses. Short walk into the town. Dinard is a favourite it's great in the summer to drive to the town and have breakfast on the beach. The big supermarket is a pleasant walk from the airfield through the pathways and over the bridge.

Great trip so far! Can't wait to do it myself after I finish my PPL at Elstree in the next few months. LIRJ will be one of my first stops, difficult approach over the hills, but worth it and good fun! Quick question on gear: What yoke mount and cover do you use for the iPad Air? Looking to get one for solo x-country flights! Thanks!
@TheFlyingReporter
@TheFlyingReporter 3 года назад
Good luck with the rest of your training. A lot of my questions around Gear can be found in the video description and website FAQs. From my FAQs... In my early videos, Prior to May 2018, I had an older, and rather large IPad. (fourth generation I think) I mounted it to the yoke with one of these. www.transair.co.uk/sp+Apple-iPad-RAM-Mounts-Ram-iPad-Complete-Yoke-Mount-Kit+1426 I now have an ipad mini, wifi/gps/cellular version, and I mount it with the same yoke attachment, but a smaller cradle. Make sure you get the right attachment/cable for your needs. transair.co.uk/pilot-supplies/ram-mounts-mobile-mounting-solutions/apple-ipad-mini-mounts Do make sure the flight controls are unimpeded by the mount/iPad. If you don’t adjust it well, it can get in the way of the mixture setting on the PA28.

Your french is really approximate Jon (sorry...) but I admire your boldness. You dare doing things where others wouldn't. I am French but learned to fly In the UK so I can relate as I didn't know what to say on the radio when flying in my own country.... have a look at the "Manuel de phraseologie", you can download on this link www.sia.aviation-civile.gouv.fr/reglementation/manuel-de-phraseologie.html. It is 32€ but worth the purchase. There is also the English equivalent which will help you going through it

Why french only on the radio? This is against ICAO rules where english is the international language for aviation around the world - I know the french can be lax in that regard but english is the mandated language.
