IAS = indicated airspeed

The reason the Garmin didn’t hold altitude at 1200 is that you set it and engaged after you busted the 1200 ALT as you were above it. At that point, you have to engage either IAS (INDICATED Air Speed) or VS to initiate a decent to your selected ALT. When you select IAS or VS it locks in your current IAS or VS which if you are straight and level, it will stay at 1400 until you turn the wheel and set the IAS or VS (negative number ).. I have about 75 hours with the GFC 500, Dual G5’s since I had them installed in my cherokee last October. Don’t know if you fly Ifr , but based on this video , I would not fly in the clouds until you are proficient with both G5’s and the GFC 500. I spent about 4 hours and a dozen approaches (ILS, GPS, missed , Holds etc) until I used it in IMC. When ever you push any buttons on the gfc500 , ALWAYS LOOK AT THE ANNUNCIATION on the G5 to make sure it’s doing what you told it to do.

you should make a video flight take off and approach to land for us... sometimes i do not get the glidepath or slope...

@@AccurateTaxFinance So , your GFC doesn’t lock on the glide on an ILS? Are you being vectored ? If so , ATC may be bringing you in for an intercept to close or and to high on Final. Need more detail

@@garygazman3827 just got the equipment with a 3x and was out practicing I think i was going straight to the fix and was too close in. question if i fly an approach and arm the aprch headed in to a fix that has to precision turn will it suspend and unsuspend auto and will it fly down to the next approach fix or do I vs down until the final ap fix. thanks just one day playing with the 500

@@garygazman3827 also is there a certain altitude required to activate the AP to climb IAS out on take off? thanks
@garygazman3827
@garygazman3827 2 года назад
@@AccurateTaxFinance Yes , 700 AGL is when you can “legally” activate the AP. I will typically set everything up on the GFC before takeoff (IAS , Alt Preselect etc ) so that when I activate the AP , all is good. You could also use the TOGA button. I also use IAS for climb and VS for decent. I would say atc probably had you to high and the glide was below you. Was this an RNAV or an ILS. ?

IAS is INDICATED AIRSPEED

You skipped by it, but YD is the Yaw Dampener, which is not installed in most (any?) 4 seat GA aircraft.

This is incorrect. It's installed in a lot of 4-seat aircraft. I have it in my S35 Bonanza.
