You must be a mind reader. I’m moving ahead, little by little, by setting the timer for 10 minutes after each video of your, to work on what I’ve just learned. I’ve borrowed the motto “1% better each day.” Thank you!
I always think about rapunzel. She starts at 7:00 and sweeps and mops and cleans and then it is 7:15. And I always think. You can do anything in 15 minutes and the rest of the day is for you.
I found this video about 2 weeks ago.. and LOVED how passionate you sounded when talking about how the flylady system helped you. So I started binge watching all of these baby steps from video one. Determined to learn it all.. When I got to this one again I realized I was doing the opposite of what you were saying. So I re-watched day 1 and shined my sink, and every day after i have just watched one video and have been developing these small routines. They have changed my life already!! I just reached the video that started it all and I wanted to tell you how grateful I am that you took the time to explain that part of the program is to slow down and develop the routine. You are awesome, and I'm so excited to keep making progress in my chaotic life. ♡♡♡ Thank you!!!
Oh, the emails! I subscribed to flylady mailing list on day4, was it? Checked out the website 15 min, watched FlyLady say there's no spam, just read the email on phone whenever email comes, just 30 seconds and move on. NO! I've been receiving about 8 emails a day and there is no way I can read any of them in 30 seconds. I am so disappointed that FlyLady herself would create such a spam! The only ones valuable are focus for the month and this weeks zones but I'm not even there yet! So it's kind of weird that flylady crates a step to unsubscribe from her own mail. This is in no way related to you Diane! You have been a massive help, inspiration and motivation for me every single day for the past two weeks. Just 30min a day, split in small manageable pieces and my house has never been so neat. Not that I'm a hoarder but somehow I always felt behind. Now I'm not dreading unannounced guests and take pride of flowers on my kitchen island. Also, thank you for Dress Your Truth references. I checked it out and started to do some work on myself as well. Happy people, happy home! 🖖
I love your motivational photos. I’m going to put a photo of my Mom and her best friend in my control journal. They both had amazing routines for taking care of their homes, which were always “company-ready”. They are both in heaven now, but I will imagine them cheering me on and giving me sound advice.
I'm day 12 of my own journey of babysteps. Been watching for several months now. Originally I didn't think Flylady system was for me as I was overwhelmed and wanted to keep it simple. But since your explanations and inspirations made me understand more. I am focusing on establishing creating those habits. Even my kids (I have 4!) Are joining in. My 12 yr old asked if I wanted him to shine the sink tonight 😍. Thanks!
It's so lovely and relaxing finally having someone guide you through a new system, and with such small steps that you literally can't find an excuse not to do them and they're so FUN and short, both the steps and the videos! 😍😍😍
These videos have made all the difference for me! I have done these babysteps over and over on my own, but they never made as much sense and stuck with me as now. It's so much better doing it with someone. The system makes so much more sense, seems so much more simple, and has a whole new meaning and impact for me now. Thank you so much:)
+Patricia Clark Love that the system is working for you now, Patricia! That's why Flylady Premium exists...some of us need a little more handholding to get started 💖
Oh wow I needed this video! I was printing off all of her printable and ready to go start going through each room and attacking it all :) I deleted my app, stuck the papers away for later and I'm going to focus on making my Control Journal inspirational and doing the baby steps
You are AmAzInG!!!!!!! Every time you describe how you *were* or how you think *we* are thinking-you are absolutely right! Saving emails to read later; wanting to make our Control Journal nice and fancy; and/or skipping ahead! Thank you for being our lighthouse in this babystep lifestyle change!!! P.S. I love your snappy outfits and your straight Modern Millie'ish hair looks fantastic on you (although this video was made in 2017).
I just deleted 67 flylady emails that I was going to read sometime. Thank you for helping me to clear up my cyber clutter. It does feel better now. I don't have all that reading hanging over me.
I've been faffing about doing/sort of doing Flylady for about 4 or 5 years. I abandoned it completely a few times. I had just started trying it again for a few weeks when i decided I'd do the baby steps again. Only, i thought I'd keep on with my giant routines, zones, daily focus, AS WELL. Anyone can guess what happened. I froze in overwhelm, and didn't do any of it. Then i forgot for 4 days that i was supposed to be doing the baby steps! This video showed me where i went wrong. I will just do what i am told for the rest of this month!
It's better to avoid wearing shoes in the house as they carry a lot of bacteria from outside. If you are wearing clean shoes that are intended just for the house then that's good.
I find your videos so helpful. I have been following FlyLady for quite some time, but I never did the baby steps. I am having difficulty decluttering, but you are making everything fall into place. Thank you so much!
Thank you, Diane! Sometimes we need “permission” from others to do what needs to be done for our sanity, like deleting emails and taking breaks. p.s. - I love “The Transporter” too but the character played by Jason Statham!! Not just because of him but because of how simple he keeps his life - his house (before it got blown up, he had one big box of sentimental things and photos and that’s it!), his clothes (black suit, white shirt, black tie when working), and his work (stick to routines and his own rules). Love it!!
today day 12 of the 31 babysteps on March 12th, 2020. I just realized, I have no idea, which motivational fotos I could use. I deleted some emails yesterday. but there are a lot left. today, I need to find a 2 min hotspot and again at least 5 min decluttering. then teeth brushing, skin care and bed. I am not that bad going by this weeks bed times, if I go to bed at 11.30 pm. my plan is, to switch to going to bed at 10.30 pm from next week on. we'll see.
I love your videos. This video shows the beautiful snow coming down. It is such a calming background! Thank you for all the time you spend in making these videos. You are doing a great job!!
I didn't subscribe because I knew it would stress me! If I want info I either find one of your videos or go on flylady.net and search, then I don't get caught up in things I didn't need or want to know. I did my inspirational quotes this eve whilst watching this and found Dr Seuss..."You have feet in your shoes"! Who knew! Haha! Off to clear the kitchen, set the table and shine my sink xx
Thank you again, Diane! I am a Flybaby on day 12. Can't believe I'm actually doing this! It is so good. Always enjoy seeing what stylish outfit you are wearing everyday!
Yesterday I put some inspirational quotes in my control journal .I live that you made a point of saying you can write them down as sometimes my perfectionism rears it ugly head and I panic because I don't have a printer .one of the quotes I live is progress not perfection. I love iron man ,not sure I know transporter. Is that what the film is called ? Thank you for taking the time to make these videos and using your gifts to help other people. Xx
Thank you! I just deleted tons of Fly Lady's emails. I coulld not keep up reading them and felt do guilty. Gone! They are gone! And I even found 2 emails that were waiting ny attention. So, thanks again!
I have been following since day 1 ( I had to do one day twice so far- day 5 i think) but so far so good! I watch the videos and and reading the book at the same time. The videos are very helpful!
For the first time, i subscribed to the emails. Most of the ones I've read have been selling me stuff i either already have, or don't need. I'm not overwhelmed by them, i already have 35000 emails, last i looked. One day, I'm going to unsubscribe from everything and delete them all. Just saying.
Thank you for videos. I've been fluttering on and off for 3 years. Thanks to your encouragement, I'm finally committing to dressing to laced up shoes and taking baby steps. 🖖-Flybaby Diane, Rhode Island, USA
Thank you FlyLady Diane Denmark! I love your Day 12 video! Those emails clutter our minds! I especially love seeing your bright pretty windows in your videos! Thank you for breaking down the baby steps for us!
Hi. I found you by accident 5 days ago and I am just loving your videos. Just enough information for one day. I watch whilst I'm eating my muesli and I am dressed to shoes ! I'm glad you said you were in Coppenhagen because I thought it was Scotland and your last name was Denmark, ha ha. Just an observation, I have a wooden calendar block like yours and I keep the month blocks on the bottom and the numbers on top of those, that way I only move the numbers every morning. Thank you. See you tomorrow xx
Glad you are joining me with your shoes on! LOL And thanks *so* much for the idea about the wooden calendar. I shall change it around tomorrow - keep an eye out! ;-)
How observant! I have one similar with a cat curled over the top but mine is same; months at bottom. and I noticed it was changed next video (which I'm playing on tv whilst reading comments on my phone lol), then I saw Dianes comment 😉
Hi Flylady Diane, that's exactly what happened to me at first, I was overwhelmed reading all the emails trying not to miss anything. Of course I then fell back and got discouraged, trying to catch up. I decided to try again but was trying to get back to where I had left off, which was again overwhelming. Feeling like I wanted to pull my hair out because I kept getting side tracked. I am now starting over from scratch. I think these videos will help me to stay on track and not to get ahead and get overwhelmed again. :) Saying hello from Maine, USA. and trying not to get my perfectionism get to me, it will get done a little at a time. :) Thank you for your encouraging videos. Now I know that I can start from the beginning at anytime by looking at these videos.
Glad to have you babystepping with us, Shirley! And yes - if you need to restart the videos - then do that. Sometimes we need to hear/see/try things several times before it sinks in :-)
I batch deleted almost everything in my Gmail account. It's an amazing feeling. - A good reason to keep your house CHAOS-free: Be ready for the day Jason Statham or Robert Downey Jr stop in. :) Haha.
It was not easy to hit the delete button, but I deleted every flylady mails. I hit it once a week but already keep the mails of the day of today. So I was a bit sad cause I not yet have read them. But I was obedient : )
I have 10 mins in bed while I 'wake up' and I check my emails using my Ipad at that time. I read them, or skim them at least and delete as I go, even the Flylady ones. They only get kept if I have to do something about them, like a bill or kids school stuff. Then when the time comes to sort the important stuff out, It is easy to find. :) I read the Flylady emails, but don't put them into action yet, because it helps me get into the right frame of mind for my day. :)
I didn’t subscribe this time. The last two times I’ve subscribed, I just felt overwhelmed by all of the emails. So instead, I deleted all of my emails from Amazon and Yeti. I also unsubscribed from a few things.
About 5:30 into this video I started blushing because you caught me! I'm on day 1 and I've already watched your videos up to now 😶 to be fair, I did it while I shined my sink!
Hi Fly lady Diane. Loving your videos, I just have a question though. Since we had the day when we did the 15mins of decluttering/getting rid of rubbish, am I supposed to be doing that everyday, or was that just for the day you mentioned. I have been doing the 2minute hot spot and 5minute room rescues and other things you've mentioned everyday. Thank you!
Hi there! Add it to your daily routine and, if you have time, go ahead and do it. But don't stress. The main thing is to keep moving ahead, doing a little at a time! 😀
I take off my jacket, usually, and put on a cardigan or an apron if there is a really dirty job to be done. But because I'm cleaning the Flylady way (in small amounts but consistently), I've found that I don't need to use a lot of heavy chemicals any more - much easier and less dirty! :-)
Is there a method behind the emails? Because it seems like Flylady would help Us to simplify this part of our life by sending maybe one emails daily. Just curious. 🙂
Okay, I'll delete the emails, but I wonder why you had us sign up for them in the first place, if we were just going to delete them a few days later. I love you, but I'm confused.
O.M.G. I don't know if I can do this one. It is so unexpected!!! I watched this in prep for tomorrow, 5/13/2017, my day 13. I have to say I'm really scared without that buffer. I have the emails filed in my Fly Lady folder in my yahoo account so they are not in front of my face all the time but get rid of them??? I trust you. But I'm very scared.
Alice Adler What did you decide to do? I think that since you had them filed in a folder for future reference & they weren’t cluttering your in-box, you could choose to keep them. I also think it’s about not having guilt about them which could drain energy.
I like a phrase Flylady uses a lot lately. "Hit a lick at a snake!" It reminds me I'm not going to kill the snake that is the chaos of my life today, but through my routines I'm sure going to give it a nice slap across the face
We are not talking about deleting the Flylady app. We are deleting the Flylady mails which come to your email (if you have subscribed for the daily email service).
love you, but you're losing me with the journal. Can't handle any more paperwork. Also I believe that your tools are important, don't need the latest and the greatest but the right tools can make all the difference for me
