This song means alot to me, it gotta be sing with passion and feelings. Lacey sang it with full of her heart because of the life changing experience she and her band had in Africa
Lacey your voice was 1 in a BILLION..... Flyleaf it WAS one of my #1 bands in High School... i used to have that song as my MySpace back round... its amazing....
I fully agree with Scott. I saw her sing live at LifeLight and her voice is unique and if people want to hear Lacey, they should listen to Lacey, but I really like what Kristin brings to the band. I can tell she has a background in theater and many other forms of music. She is very talented and pleasant and interesting to listen to.
wow!!!!!!! I didnt know what to expect..Kristen's voice is so beautiful and powerful..yes Lacey is amazing too..but both different and wonderfully talented amazing women!!!! Cant wait to hear more from Flyleaf and Kristen!!!!
Kristen is ridiculously talented and no one could match Lacey's passion for something she wrote herself. I think Kristen works well with the band and I'm excited to see them Saturday :)
I love how people are like "She made it her own". Like it's a good thing. Truthfully, it just sounds like a decent cover. She is by no means a bad singer, she's just not Lacey.
I understand people's attachment to Lacey. Flyleaf with Lacey was one of the first concerts I ever went to and it was the first thing that made me cry because of the beauty rather than the pain. I was/am a huge fan. Kristen is not Lacey, and that isn't a bad thing. She is amazing in her own right. For a lot of stuff, I like her better. I think it's just nostalgia and the discomfort of change that people don't like. I really do love them both.
You know I don't hate this new singer. She has a solid voice with solid range. I just stopped listening because I couldn't get into the thought of a new singer. But it's very weird hearing Kristen song this song because it isn't hers. Broken Wings was Lacey's anthem. She does a well enough job, it's just this song was Lacey's anthem. This song was just made for her voice.
I love the new singer, I think she makes amazing music. But I wish she never covered this song. This song is a special thing Lacey shared with us, on a personal level.
I just started getting into this band a few weeks ago. Both singers are extremely talented. I didn't have a long lasting attachment with Lacey being the singer like most people did. However, I love her voice and my favorite song with her as the singer would have to be So I Thought. In regards to the new singer, Kristen, I love her voice too. Both are a little different but I really enjoy their new music. This is an amazing performance by Kristen.
The old flyleaf songs just don't compliment her voice, simply because she's not the one who wrote it, she didn't put her emotions into it. She's not Lacey, but she has a nice voice. The new music will compliment her voice better and include her own emotion.
It's different because no matter who the bass player or drummer is the sound of the instrument doesn't change. But a voice, especially like Lacey's, cannot be replaced. Each voice is unique and the sound does change. I do agree that you should love the whole band and it's sad when a member leaves but you just can't replace a singer.
Everyone misses Lacey but Kristen is doing an amazing job and she is making it her own, everyone style is different and Lacey was the one encouraging her so less hate more love, that's what Flyleaf is about anyhow! Kristen keep up the good work you and the guys are amazing!
I like so much her voice but nothing like lacey :( dont want this girl in flyleaf but well she will be great in another band if she wants, come back lacey :(
.Ok I have to say this Lindsey isn't a bad singer. But what made Lacey so great was that when she opened her mouth to sing I could feel every fiber of her being coming through her voice. After hearing this I know why New Horizons maybe my last flyleaf album. Lacey didn't just sing, music was her outlet. No disrespect to the other band members but someone who can simply cover the song can't replace that.
I had the chance to meet Kristen and hear a live acoustic session here in Las Vegas today, and the feeling she puts into this song is beautiful. For those of you who want to hate... she didn't make Lacey leave... she left the band all on her own... get over it. She is doing the best she can, and I think it is awesome.
Lacey is singing now for Christian conferences, she leads worship at some the whosoevers conference, a ministry she started with ryan ries and sonny from POD
I honestly don't know how anyone can be dissing this at all. She's not Lacey and doesn't have to be.This is totally amazing and I love it. I wish people would quit comparing her to Lacey. Lacey left Flyleaf for her own reasons-DEAL WITH IT!!!!
The new singer sounds like pop. Dont get me wrong but I love lacey so much and you cant blame the fans of flyleaf that they got dissapointed for the new vocalist. I never felt this to Nightwish when they actually change for almost 3 lead vocals. And thats fine with me., maybe Laceys voice was just so hypnotizing and people will never get used listening to kristen or kristy or whatever I dont know her name.. she sounds pretty much like hailey from paramore. (Its just my opinion guys pls dont hate me 😔) Im still sticking to laceys songs but maybe I will give this a try. 😌
Kristen is amazing and her voice is really different than Lacey's, but she deserves more than these hateful comments about how she can't 'sing' Flyleaf songs. They obviously chose her for a reason, and I personally like her voice. Just in a different sense than I did Lacey's.
I literaly shed a tear when she started to sing...It's not the same, my heart sank while I listened to this. She can sing, but you cant feel the music...I just can't get into the song like I used to...Lacey you will be missed...
Once Kristen starts singing and writing her own songs I'm sure things will be different. But as of right now she is only covering Lacey's songs. And when Lacey sang she sang with so much passion and emotion because she was telling a story, Kristin sounds like she is just singing.
Not saying she's a horrible singer but I'll always love Lacey's voice! When Lacey sang her voice always gave me the chills in a good and emotional way! I don't really feel anything when Kristen sings. Maybe I'll grow to like her but who knows!
i hate the fact that lacey its not longer in flyleaf, and trully no one will ever be able to replace her, EVER!, but kristen has a beautiful voice and i will never talk shit about her, she decerves some respect
As a fan of her stuff from the Vedera days, and a long time fan of Flyleaf, I wholly appreciate both of you not just trash-talking Kristen. She's a hell of a singer, but I can agree with what you both say. I think she needs to just let the music lead her instead of over-thinking it too much. But given that some of these songs are YEARS old with the band and its original front-runner, filling Lacey's role has to be intimidating. I can't wait for the chance to hear them live in person.

I think if the new singer focused on what she could give I think she could give us something just as special, her talent is wasted on something she cannot replicate.
She's not a bad singer guys. Her voice just doesn't really fit in with the song. Her voice is a bit more (not meant to be offensive) child-like in a good way, and in my opinion is meant for more supportive, happy songs and not so much for serious, meaningful songs like Broken Wings. Lacey's was awesome for this song; I just adored her haunting voice that will forever be burned into my head. Lacey is so missed. :)
Yeah, but some of Lacey's songs she's alright at. No one could ever beat Lacey though. Anyways, I like Kristen's song Something Better. She's amazing at that song.
I think the reason why Kirsten sounds so rehearsed is the fact that she is Lacey's replacement and as so she may have to try and sound similar to Lacey. I think she may be feeling it but maybe it's a lot of pressure taking songs that people are use to and trying to do as good as the original. She has the vocal talent but people are use to Lacey's high pitched voice and her trills.
We all miss Lacey, being the unique singer of the band & being replaced is hard to deal with when Lacey/flyleaf told their stories through their music..everyone song has a story behind it.
I agree with you so much. The new girl isn't bad its just weird looking up Flyleaf and seeing this new person. A new name would be so much better. Especially if someone hasn't listened to them in a while and they go to search for them.. and Lacey not being in the band anymore would be disappointing. (exactly what just happened to me.) I thought it was someone covering one of their songs on a different video.
all the musicians of this band look so sad for Lacey's decission... but, they need of all our support... it's tru that Kristen wont reach Lecey's quality, but they are doing their best!
Granted, she isn't Lacey and she does have HUGE shoes to fill BUT her voice is truly amazing and it'll probably take some getting used to. Once they make a new album with some songs tailored to Kristen's voice, everything will be legit.
I respect Lacey's decision, it just kills me that I won't be able to hear her acoustic sessions for this album. This album has become one of my favorites. Kristen isn't a bad singer, she's respectable, but her voice isn't pulling me in like Lacey's does. Oh well.

You know who would have been a great new singer for Flyleaf? Eowyn! She was in a Christian alternative metal band just like Lacey, and her voice has that same unique rigidness to it. Their lyrics are just as deep as Flyleaf's, too :)
Yeah, it's "so not cool" that Lacey wanted to spend more time with her family. I saw Kristen live a few days ago and she's an awesome singer, regardless of how much you want her to sound like Lacey did.
than*, and that's your opinion! Do you know how much courage it takes to stand in front of a public that is judging her severely? Do you know what is to just be in a stage? People have a different talents at different levels. Of course you may not know that cause She is just beginning!
I agree with you! I think she has a beautiful voice, but I do feel that she worries too much about how she sounds instead of feeling the music. It's the vibe I get from her singing that makes me feel this way. God bless her though!
