She's loose like Wavy Gravy And asked me to lie down on the ground She moves just like she's crazy And doesn't care who's around She always spoke so plainly Until the day she left town There's a riot now she's coming home And though I loved her dearly I couldn't keep her around Dreaming like a baby I care too much to let her down It always seemed so easy Until the day she left town There's a riot now she's coming home She's loose like Wavy Gravy She's loose like Wavy Gravy
That section starting from 2:11 is genius. Instead of reverting straight back to the verse, these guys take the song to the stratosphere. The bass guitarist must be getting blisters on her fingers, that's some fast playing there!
This song has vocal psychedelia roots ('60s), the '90s whammy bar schwang, and modern youngsters putting it together with a great "I wish I'd done it" chord progression, very cool
dear friend...there're LOTS of bands that have carried on the great Shoegaze tradition and deserve more attention... Air Formation, Engineers, HIghspire, Echodrone and 93 Million MIles from the Sun are but a few...don't get me wrong, I love what I call the Classic 5: MBV, Lush, Pale Saints, Slowdive and my faves: Ride, but lots of the newer gen of NuGazers (including these guys) are incredible! Cheers!
I feel as though I have just had a (Slowdive) off an exciting fairground (Ride)...forgive the bracketed bands but this is a brilliant Shoegazeish formula of unadulterated sublime sound that shakes away any cobwebs and brings back happy memories to this older gazer.Brilliant track and just ordered the EP.
Wow! I was totally digging this then at around 2:30 I realized thins is a new favorite band... It's been 3 decades since I've legitimately liked a new band.
Doesn't seem surprising when considering how most people are lazy sheep-like f-cks when it comes to music (which is nothing wrong in itself but that explains it)
WoodenPhish well when you think about it good music like this isn't that easy to find. the major labels do not really care about music, they just want to make something catchy and sell it to their idiot listeners. I heard recently that for the first time in history old albums are outselling new albums which does give me some hope that maybe we are going to see a change in popular music again. if its mainstream it is brainless, Disney sounding, soulless crap. then you have a lot of people who don't really care about music and like bands for all the wrong reasons. I remember when Brittany spears came out idiots I knew would say have you heard of her and I'd say yeah her music sucks and they'd say yeah but she sure is sexy.
I saw a story on the news a few years back when Ringo Starr was in town, discussing the fact that sales of Beatles albums have remained consistent, and they interviewed a local record store owner who said that half the sales were to young people. I think a lot of people realize that modern music really is lousy.
Love the new album! Yeh, the shoegaze influence is there for sure but I also hear hints of "Pink Frost" by The Chills, which is a match made in heaven for me. :) Those late 80s/early 90s were formative music years for me.
I just happened upon this group today, via listening to some Pinkshinyultrablast tunes/videos......this is just absolutely fantastic music......keep up the great work!!
As much as I like the harmonized vocals, you both have such great voices I love songs where you take turns to let rip individually. God I love this EP.
