A treat from the FM archives - the original promo video for FM's version of the Whitfield / Strong classic recorded by Marvin Gaye "I Heard It Through The Grapevine" - released in 1991 via Music for Nations.
So great to see this video up here. I remember watching this when it came out and the rock programme was on ITV on Saturday morning at 2am!! I'd forgotten Andy had a Frankenstein Jackson guitar, which I think glowed in the dark!!
Weird finding this after all this time, but saw FM perform this live when they were supporting Whitesnake in 1994-ish. It was much more heavy-rocky than this and blew us away to be honest. We were concerned as to whether Mr.Coverdales guys could keep their end up so to speak ;-)
The guitar solo ruins this version I think. It’s a good version overall, but I just think the solo is too heavy and too much. For me, a more melodic guitar solo would have rounded off a great version.
