Fun fact: salvageable animatronics can appear in catalog items (meaning they are hiding in them like tutorial unit says at the begining and increase liability) if you lose. molten Freddy is in the discount ballpit, scraptrap is in either nedd beat or pig patch, scrap baby is in the stage, and lefty is in himself. Also, if you purchase lefty before salavaging him, you get to see a cut out instead of lefty, you can only throw it in the alley

I think the audio prompts are the ambient noise of the restaurants while they were operational and that’s what draws certain animatronics; they would recognize the sound of their home restaurant which causes them to get aggressive since it reminds them of their demise and ultimate fate.

For those who don't know, the animatronics have very subtle audio cues for when they have high aggression (near attacking). Although they're extremely faint and easily blend with the ambient noises, you can hear some in this video Here they are: Molten Freddy's audio cues are creaking and popping sounds similar to a rusted metal joint creaking - not audible in this video ScrapTrap's cue is a faint and laborious heartbeat (!!) - faintly audible at 7:40 and 8:40 under Tape Guy's dialogue Scrap Baby's cue are metallic and plastic rattling and rubbing sounds - also not audible in this video and Lefty's cue is a wind up mechanism cracking and whirring noise similar to a toy or music box (!!) - very easily mistaken for the tape player turning noise, but it is faintly audible at 14:42 under Tape Guy's dialogue, you can hear cracking and whirring If you want to hear them more clearly, here's a link to a video that compiles these sounds: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-m3XxdMQiFzY.html

Every use over three, however, will decrease the item's salvage value. Before you is an animatronic found in the back alley. We are unsure of its origins. It is your job to complete the maintenance checklist before claiming it as salvage. Or, if you choose to, you can throw it back into the alley where you found it and forfeit payment. Please make your choice now. You have chosen to proceed with the maintenance checklist. Remember, use your company as you taser to return the animatronic back to a neutral state if you feel that it is becoming unstable or aggressive. I have a good tip for salvaging the animatronics when it reaches its 3rd position or the 2nd position 1st position is when the animatronic is in normal hostile state each time it tilts its head or moves it gets more hostile when it moves again its hostile but if pause the tape and hear clicking [scrapbaby and molten freddy have clicking sounds] and you may hear them once a while once their on their 3rd hostile position lefty has a whirring sound on the 3rd position or 2nd any animatronic may have whirring clicking or heart beating. Scraptrap has a 3rd position and a 2nd position he makes a heart beat noise pause the tape every once a while if you hear it AND SHOCK THE ANIMATRONICS IF YOU HEAR CLICKING HEARBEATS OR WHIRRING for example [scrapbaby hostile sounds = clicking sounds] [molten freddy = also clicking sounds ] [lefty hostile sounds LISTEN FOR WHIRRING ] listen for any clicking heartbeat or whirring. It indicates the animatronics are very hostile and are about to Jumpscare you so use control shock whenever you hear that and make sure to always pause the tape for the clicking whirring or heartbeats

So wait, if they are completely salvaged, how is that different gameplay wise to if you fail and they jumpscare you? (This is coming from someone who has never played this game before but seen a few playthroughs.)
