This is only my opinion, but they had no right to say that Squidward deserved to be depressed. The only reason he told SpongeBob to quiet down so that he could focus and concentrate for his clarinet performance. Therefore, it isn't Squidward's fault.
Genuinely, you are Correct, Spongebob and Patrick are always an annoyance to him. Though he cares for both of them, it doesn't help the fact they both don't know when to stay away from the guy. They have even caused genuine physical/psychological Pain to him. I don't get why the story always goes out to make Squidward a Bad Guy, when he is only trying to live and do what he does, he only does things he has done, since the two always are the ones getting him into Messes.
I know Squidward can somehow mean to SpongeBob, but that doesn't mean he deserves to get aggressively boo from the audience, and imagine if you are Squidward, you have received them like this, how do you feel?

Elena You probably dont know but Squidward Actually is kicking spongebob out his house for a good reason, his parents died a long time ago and he was depresed for a very long time, his mom used to play the clarinet when he was little, but then a hook grabbed both of them, now squidward is alone, Squidward actually needs company but her really doesnt show it
But... Here's my therory Squidward really likes his neighbors but he needs silents to focus on his clarinet therefore nobody liked it so he went home and tried to sleep, he couldn't get sleep beacause Spongebob and Patrick so he couldn't take it anymore so he committed suicide
