I'm a bit of a sucker when it comes to these covers, but I never realized how close the original mod song and the sounds of the Sega Genesis were until now. Makes me appreciate the original even more. EDIT: Reply section to this comment is hell currently.
To the people that said "wow this feels like a sonic level" This is a boss fight-like song... Friendly reminder this always happens in a genesis remix type of song
This (as well as Tim Follin's work) is proof that the Genesis WAS capable of outputting some amazing sounding music. It's just unfortunate that so few people back then really knew how to utilize FM synth to its full potential.
@@lemonzest8650 Yeah, a good example would be Defeat from the Among us mod. Without the vocals it just sounds like an epic boss theme that most people wouldn't even know was related to FNF and Among us (not to say the one WITH vocals isn't a banger)
first time i heard this i thought the “3 2 1 go” was out of place, but then i remembered that sonic games often have vocals in their tracks. like sonic 3
"So far, so good... Hey, that's.." "That blue hedgehog again, of all places!" "I found you, faker!" "Faker? I think you're the fake hedgehog around here. You're comparing yourself to _me?_ _Ha!_ You're not even good enough to be my fake!" "I'll make you eat those words!" And the battle commences.
Or if you put in the code to see the maijn sonic scene in sonic cd and then it just teleports you to your computer and brings up the sonic.exe mod for fnf and makes you go to endless
The tempo on this actually sounds like it's being played a PAL console, and I gotta say as someone who's British and grew up with 50Hz, I _LOVE_ it! It actually makes this sound so much better! Edit: The replies to this comment are absolutely _hilarious_ and just make my day, oh my God
It could work with majin sonic being some sort of metal sonic, where having the whole background of multiple majin sonics being like some sort of factory where there mass produced
The genesis' DAC is pretty much capable of outputting really high quality samples, the reason why most games back then has really bitcrushed samples is to save more cartridge space
This is really good, must've been pretty annoying to get just right. Everyone's imagining a Sonic Zone, and while I can too, I'm mainly hearing a Phantasy Star battle theme.
The most notable difference (aside from Bf) is that majins voice doesn’t seem to roll off the same way that you he original does, and generally had a full stop immediately
@@kyuuketsukinonamida I also see you have a Youmu fumo as your profile! as a Touhou and Cookie Run fan, I'm glad to see someone with likes as niche as me. Also, please don't hate me for simply having a Deltarune profile (Susie most specifically), I know the Undertale + Deltarune and Touhou fanbases (I think Undertale is considered a separate fandom) hate each other to death (Note: The UT and Deltarune fanbases don't hate each other, they just both hate the 2hu fandom), there are nice peopñe who aren't toxic in them, and I'm one of those. And finally, about the background where Susie is in my profile pic, it's Eientei (A location in the Touhou universe)! I made a "Damn it Kris! Where the hell are we?" meme where they both end up in Eientei, but I haven't posted it anywhere. Perhaps I can post it on Know Your Meme's page.
@@MaimaiKuroshiro Hey! I'm also gald to see a touhou and cookie run fan here. Also I won't shame you for having a deltarune pfp because I like Toby Fox's games too :D Also i took the photo myself because the fumo just came today (Also it's a bootleg fumo from amazon)
I enjoy the way this version has the iconic "Genesis" feel to it. That old "buzz" that brings you back to the good ol' days of this classic music, when Sonic could create simple and classic tracks with a few instruments like this.... Very well done on the cover, btw!

Legit when I heard the first release of Endless, my first comment to the hubby (as someone who grew up on the old Genesis Sonics) was "this legitimately sounds like an old Sonic track, you can tell a lot of love went into this," but to hear how true that is is something else!
0:01 Endless Zone Act 1 2:54 Endless Bonus (Or it can also be boss phases) It really sounds great with the Genesis sound system. I even imagine what the level would be like.
As a sonic and fnf fan myself, I already knew that the instruments were close but hearing it with the original sounds just makes me feel like it's actually from a sonic game. That's what I love about the original song and this cover too
This sounds like it could become a boss theme for a sonic game maybe a sonic fan game the instrumental sounds like it could be a settings theme like the sound test for sonic CD
I'm reading the comments they're like "this song shows how well done the original was!" But like the original just used the Sega Genesis soundfont (except for FPC which was used for the sonic samples and spin dash) so of course these two sound very similar. They're essentially the same thing but this one's just more authentic (Also I really miss the sonic sound effects in the background)
The reason why Majin's vocals sound so similar to the original Endless song, is because Majin's vocals are actually a sound from the Gensis soundfont, pretty sure it's trumpet (for anyone who didn't know pls don't hate)
I like that simply changing the instruments/sound font (idk what the right term is) instantly makes this into a legit classic sonic level soundtrack. Probably would be used on an actual level based around Majin.
Hearing this makes me wish someone would make a rom hack or fangame that takes Sonic.exe/lord X and Majin Sonic and reworks them as lore-friendly chracters who could have realisticly been in a real Sonic game with a original story.
@@SeniorSatoru Yhea what I mean is like a heavly edited version of them that fits with lore of the official games and their tone, as something SEGA themself's could have made, while still staying as true to the original concept and creepypasta as possible, and using remixes like this one.
Majin Sonic in Europe and Japan: Hey, kids! We, at sega enterprises want to bring you the most fun possible, and fun with us is infinite! Majin Sonic in America: Bring your daughter to the slaughter, amirite?
Wow they did a good job with the making of the Endless song matching the original Genesis console that you can play it with the limitations of one. I can imagine an entire zone with this song lol cool if someone made a zone or boss with this song as a rom hack. this is actually probably my favourite song after hearing it a few times it can’t get of my head help please omfg
fun fact: the sega genesis soundfont was actually used to make most songs in the mod including Majin's voice which was the trumpet and the instrumental for too slow, if u have the sf2 just choose something called unused with a number
I can imagine the endless level in sonic being really fun at the beginning and then it slowly gets harder and unsettling as you progress through the level. The thing is, it's endless. So it'll keep getting harder and harder and creepier and creepier until you can't continue the level anymore. And you have unlimited health so ye. Yw for the custom sonic level idea uvu
Dude, this is awesome! The fact that it sounds very much like the original shows how much you put into this. I was also wondering if I could use this song for some BGM, if you’re okay with that.
