Fun fact: you can actually change the color of fire using different chemicals, so Furnace being able to change the color of his fire is entirely possible.

It also depends on how hot it is blue fire is hotter than. Red fire but red fire but green fire is hotter than blue fire and red fire is hotter than orange fire I'm not sure if purple fire exists though

A neat detail I don't see any pointing out is that in sonic cd almost every bad future of eggman's boss fights all of his machinery (besides metal sonic) would look really dull only having the colors of grey and red, but in the good future they're more vibrant and colorful like furnace here with his exhaust flames. Idk if it was intentional or not but if it was I love this small detail👍

As furnace slips under sonic on the runway, he notices and decides to humour starved just until the time was right. A little while later, sonic catches a glimpse of furnace just ahead of him, so he says a little quip right before dodging furnace's strike. They trade lines, and before furnace could catch him, sonic uses the time stones to go to a timeline where he was super sonic. He comes back, and he reveals himself to his old enemy. He wasn't going to make the same mistake he did before.

Furnace is actually made out of tungsten because tungsten has the highest melting point out of any metals thus tungsten would be the only metal that would be able to handle the heat furnace produces

The lore. Sonic got all the time-stones. They gave a glimpse into starved’s dastardly plans. And he knew furnace would try to kill him. So he collected the chaos emeralds and even ended up saving Amy (at least before the chaos emeralds.) he helps tails leading to the final confrontation after the battle at stardust speedway left Furnace Powerless and destroyed. No more then a shell. In the final confrontation against starved in the Fight or flight song (good future) instead of a FEAR meter. There’s a confidence meter which makes the song easier the better you play. As Starved grows cowardice. Now without any protection, any robots, just him, and a particularly upset still 2 tailed fox that isn’t backing down until one or the other is dead.

HMMM. This adds a new lair of lore to these songs. In this timeline, Sonic time traveled to the past to save as many animals as possible. When he went back to the now good future, the place can still be seen without animals for miles. However, things are different. Robotnik figured out that Sonic's been saving the animals, so he decided to make them one of Furnace's fuel sources. He did not, however, take into account that he managed to collect all seven Chaos Emeralds during his quest to save the animals. This would explain the interaction between Sonic and Furnace at 5:25.

holy moly, this is beautiful I do like to imagine Furnace at the beginning had blue fire instead of regular fire, and considering blue fire is hotter than regular fire I think it's more like nitro powered, and I also like how at the good future part with Super Sonic their fire changed from blue to more pink-ish. It's like Furnace kicked into maximum overdrive when Sonic went super.
