My wife and I finished a great trail ride at sandy bottom stables, when we saw the foal, we asked to pet it. Foal got a little nervous, and mom comes running. Very cute and friendly.
Okay all the people who comment on the conditions of the stable, really need to educate themselves a bit more on horse welfare. I hate to throw this card, but Im a vet by profession and go to a lot of places like this. Its not about how fancy the stable looks. Its about how the animals look. This horse was not separated from her foal, she was loose and able to come running. The barn looked cooling and peaceful in what seemed to be a hot day. The horse was well kept, no neglected hooves, tail, fur - anything. As horse and foal were roaming freely and not behind fence, the farm itself and the area around the barn is probably fenced. Its quite normal to have sort of open stables where you can have the horses go in and out and have the entire area towards the fenced fields, open.
wirina holstein it was fenced. the foal approached my wife, she asked the owner if she could try to pet it and did. she called me and that's when I started filming. I was with the mother. who had approached me as soon as a got out of the car. both very friendly. the foal cried when I approached. maybe because of my size idk. they're not our horses so we just wanted to get out of the way. I did want to pet the baby, but not if it didn't want me too. everyone there seemed very well cared for.
Most foals are curious and love to brave themselves out in encounters they will regret 10 seconds later. There is absolutely no harm done to the baby even in a situation where it was alone with humans. And the foals do not suffer from being unwillingly handled by a human. The earlier the better and more trusting and safe horses they will be. They will learn to enjoy being handled but it doesn't come from birth like with Golden Retriever puppies etc. Its something to be taught. With age they will start following their person by themselves and ask for scratches behind the ears etc. I currently have 2 foals. Both protests and try to make their moms chase me off when I insist in teaching them to be handled. I do so by catching them and petting them while holding on to them - when they are right beside their moms. Their moms are very aware and usually just keeps grassing or send me a "Im not pleased" glare but thats it. They are still herd animals and Im still their owner and safe person, and they have not been removed from their foals. Now had they been hippos ...
Im only a pet and lifestock vet and must confess that my knowledge on hippos comes from TV. They're thought to be aggressive by nature and Africa's most dangerous animal. So Im thinking it would be wise not to try to pet a baby hippo - with or without its consent. And Im not sure you can use trust and compassionate handling to teach a hippo that you're its leader, like with horses. But Im no expert :-D
One of my foals used to be the one to call the entire herd into the barn. She’d follow me inside for attention, then call to Mama, and since Mama was boss mare the rest would follow her into the barn.
I honestly don't see anyone complaining about the condition of the barn, but every other comment is complaining about all the people complaining about the barn...
I don't get how people appear to not undestand this. At some point in time, the comment section was probably overrun with people complaining about the barn. Then other people started trying to fight back, commenting and complaining about those people. It takes a while for comments to gain likes and rise to the top of the section; even while comments in defense of the barn flowed in, the negative comments probably still sat at the top of the comment section for a long time. When the new comments finally received the momentum they needed, they overrode the previous comments and replaced them. Ergo, the negative comments vanished under the new comments. Boom. Amazing. What magic. ... *"Why are there only comments complaining about people complaining about the barn-"*
Love how these people respected these horses. Did not try to stand in the way or stop mom from taking her foal away, just let them go on their merry way
marco polo That’s because people liked the comments that don’t berate the state of the stable. They also disliked the ones berating the stable. You only see the top comments, dummy.
@Voracious Reader People like different things. We all have different opinions and we are all individuals. Honestly no one cares these days to be nice and I hate it. Just because there’s an option to be rude doesn’t mean you should.
Somebody hurt you didn't they. That was a mom protecting her child. That was not a mom demanding a free ice cream cone because her kid threw up his first one
Found the comments about the ‘terrible conditions of the stable’ and the people who think they know everything about horses. Glad they’re at the bottom of this comment section!
The stable looks clean and clutter free. Why are some people so critical? It's a BARN, not a model home for cryin' out loud! They get swept out once a day and hosed out once a week. Unless you have ever been in a position to raise horses, just bring your shop-vac and swifter sweeper and we'll show you how it's done.
Yes, only on the internet or a brand new stable would look like an interior designer project XD Seriously, it's sick how people "humanize" other animals, just because it doesn't look attractive to humans, doesn't mean it's harming to them.
This is so wonderful hearing the foal calling for mom!! These folks respectfully got out of her way to let her walk away happily with her baby. Beautiful moment and beautiful mare and foal. Hope they're doing great!!
@@allisonkrueger8330the ppl commented on this video. The foal and horse was not there’s. They were visiting somewhere and wanted to pet the foal. The mother wasn’t penned up away from her foal, which is good. The foal was socialized towards ppl, but it’s not their horses
They didn't 'respectfully get out of the way'. They realized the mother was on a straight line to the foal, and that line would not deviate...regardless of what was in the way
"MUUUUM!!!" (thundering hooves) "THERE you are! If I've told you once, I've told you a thousand times - no playing in the barn by yourself! You wait 'til I tell your father..."
For everybody complaining about the barn you need to shut up and look at the condition of the horses. That mare looks great and the foal appears to be healthy. I would say those complaining about the barn either don’t know anything, don’t own a barn or they have enough money to pay lots of other people to do stuff like that for them. It’s hard work to have a stable of horses and the barn looks sturdy. It just doesn’t look pretty for some of you. I would add you can’t see inside the stalls themselves, but I would bet they’re clean.
Because some people are just shit and not happy unless they are putting something down. The foal is adorable, the Mom looks fat and healthy and there is not a damned thing wrong with that barn!
All of you complaining about the barn. It may not be the best looking barn, but ima tell ya. Those horses are healthy, and as a horseback rider myself, I can tell you that this barn is ok. It may not look like the cleanest, but as long as the horses are ALIVE and healthy, its ok. So stop get off of youtube bc you're pissing people off. Thanks.
Sarah The Chalupa Queen Why do Americans call it horseback riding? Like yes i think it's obvious you sit on the back. 😂😂😂 No offence intended I just always find it funny.
Wait wait wait. There’s complaints about that barn?! That’s a nice barn!! Hell nicer the the Ag barn at my high school! I’d love to have a nice barn like that for my horses!
How about you follow your own advice - get off yt because YOU're pissing others off. Pfft. Like anyone would listen to someone like you... The barn looks like shit. If people can't afford to give their pets a nice place to live in, they don't deserve pets to begin with.
I see more comments of people complaining about other people complaining about the conditions of the stable than the actual people complaining about the stable.
Agreed the stable is not even in that bad condition. Look at any stable that have horses or even places where you can sign up to take lessons they all look kinda worn down. Because animals destroy things. Horses bite, kick and bump in to things and not to mention all the people walking through dragging in every single thing from outside. You will not find any stable anywhere that does not look worn down. Maybe a kings stable but not an average joe stable.
Probability of comments you see- People complaining about the barn - rare People complaining about people complaining about the barn - few People telling about people complaining about people complaining about the barn - top
the four comments on this video: "MA THEY WERE TOUCHIN ME" "quit complaining about the barn" "who's complaining about the barn??" "I'm a barn professional, barn is dirty, therefore is trash"
@@jakllenW402 but comments that are disliked aren't shoved to the bottom, especially if they have a ton of replies. Sometimes out of two comments, one with more likes and one with more replies, the one with more replies will be shown above the other. If you dislike a youtube comment, it literally does nothing lol
Alright I'm gonna be that guy. I'm officially the first to complain about the people complaining about the people complaining about the barn. Who shall complain about me?
i want to complain about you complaining about the people complaining about the people complaining about the state of the barn. YT POLICE!! YT POLICE!!!!
It's just people who think they know anything about animals and think animals are people. They aren't. Anyone who's raised animals as anything other than pets treated like babies knows the the animals don't care how fancy it is
People complaining about the barn but my barn isn't the best looking, it's nice but it isn't a goddess. It doesn't matter how the barn looks, if it's safe and keeps the horses healthy and nice then it's good. As long as the horses are well.
I mean would anyone really stand in the way of a mother horse and her baby..? I know some people can be absolute idiots with some animals but I don't see how anyone could mess this up. Everyone knows not to get in the way of a mother and her child.
I don't see any comment about how filthy the stable is, but I just wanna say that it actually looks FANTASTIC and well taken care of. As long as the animals are healthy and happy then the place they're in is good.
I love stables like this. The smell of hay and horses is delightful. It doesn’t have to be a rich fancy stable with an indoor dressage/jumping arena and a special water therapy pool and hundreds of horses. Long as the horses are well taken care of and the paddocks and stalls are clean is all that matters
Sienna Gorsuch I have two horses on my farm, my father raises thoroughbreds. to me it seems you aren't around horses too often. those aren't my animals. I don't know them.what i do know is the call of a foal to its mother. I also know i don't want to be what's standing between them being a stranger to them.
shamebad actually no I have 2 of my own. I wasn't tying to be hurtful or anything LOL! I was just saying they way you guys moved like 5 feet away from her when she came trotting by
she did come trotting up behind me. the owner grabbed her little girl and moved way back. which made my wife nervous. I'm not claiming to be an expert. I just know if the owner jumps that far back, I don't want to find out what the mom might do.
Because I couldn't find the comments talking about it but everyone is upset about them. I'll do the liberty of being the bad guy. GEEEZ NO WONDER THAT BABY IS CRYING!! THE CONDITION OF THAT STABLE IS HORRENDOUS!!! THIS IS HIGHLY UNACCEPTABLE.
I was the first person a foal saw and the next day it walked up to me and my dog. A few months later the mother and foal and another horse came to where I lived. They had a huge field to roam and the dog and foal played together constantly. They even took naps together. Mom never cared that I was around, but some people she didn't want around. They know who to s good to them and who isn't.
I get kicked on a daily basis by horses ar work and i still love them. If that ain't dedication I don't know what is. But not anymore I got my ass fired lmao
@@littlebear3554 You likely got paid too much and were fired on some ridiculous token violation so that someone could get hired that made half the money you made. It will not matter to your former boss that your replacement can not do half the things you did as long as they pay out less. I see this a lot, very good working people getting fired over trivial things because they got paid too much.
@@indridcold8433 i was only payed 10 dollars an hour. 10 dollars to get kicked and stepped on by horses and put down by snobby rich people. Worst job i ever had. I have a better job now
Jesus was born in a stable……manger for a bed. This is a 5 star barn, 5 star horse, 5 star baby and 5 star family for respecting Mother-baby boundaries! Good show! 😙
Virgin birth and born in a stable. Excellent. And centaur-like half-human, half-equine creature called Polkan appeared in Russian folk art and lubok prints of the 17th-19th centuries. OH I am sorry. I thought we were talking about fantastic fictional characters that have NOTHING TO DO with a real horse in a real stable.
Ah yes, the legendary comment section. Where all people first complain about one thing in the video, then people complain about the complaining, and then.... the magic happens. You click on the video, people are complaining that everyone is complaining about something, but you look and look, no comments can be found of anyone originally complaining... Confusion quickly spreads as you try to make sense of it all, but you must never forget..... you must keep the cycle going.... complain about the complainers so someone complains about you... go child... fulfil your destiny.
Nobody: No one: Not even people who always type Nobody, no one comments: Me: *scrolls down repeatedly to try and find the comments about dirty stables*
My response after reading some of the comments: My attention is 110% on the horses in this video. Why would I need to look at the barn? Who am I to judge anyone anyway?? Thank you for sharing this adorable video of Gods beautiful creatures. I love horses! Blessings. ♥️🐎🥰
@IHateCheese mate if u get triggered because someone types a letter instead of a fuckin word on the internet of all places then you're a sad person lmao. relax, enjoy life, no need to get riled up over something so minute
