That's a great looking salmonfly. I like that Cree saddle you showed, I have some dark barred ginger that might come close on a couple feathers. I'll give this one a whirl. Cheers
Great looking pattern. My only complaint is...20 minutes on one fly?!??! I have to fill my box, my wife's box and a box for my son and daughter. Who's got that kind of time? :)
Phil, I love that you included the egg sac. Have you cast these in tandem to see if the female is preferred by the trout? In theory it should be preferred since there is extra energy per volume with a gravid female. Very often trout do pick up on this sort of detail.
Thank you. No, I don’t fish these in tandem. Largely because I really try to skip and flip this pattern on the water to create movement. Drives trout nuts. Can’t do that effected with two flies.
