With Atmos and all the angles involved, I would want a speaker that has good vertical (and horizontal) directivity - a point source speaker like Genelec the ones, Ex machina, kef etc

Paul, What size and brand of speakers would you use in a 12 foot by 12 foot room (stereo setup)? I always appreciate your videos and honesty.

It really comes down to what you like and how they sound in your room. And of course your budget. 12x12 is a good sized room that the focus would be great in. Another option would be Ex machina ganameeds. They are smaller than the foals, so they may suit better.

12x12 rooms have terrible acoustics, unfortunately. I say that as someone who has a 12x12 room. If you haven't already, read up on acoustically treating square rooms. Those Focals won't help you if you don't treat the hell out of that space.

@grayhilmerson2072 assuming you have a 12x12 treated room, you'll be good to go. Best thing to do is get various speakers in the room. Find out what works best for your room.

Hi Paul, could you give us a review of the elysia alpha compressor, since you always advice it for starters if budget is no problem. It would be really interesting a comparison with the plugin like the reviews of SPL Museq Maselec etc. Thank you.

I just remodeled my control and have been wanting to get these - but I wonder if my room is too small. The room is 12’ wide by 20’ long (I sit so the room is long). Are these too big for my room? How far should these speakers be away from the wall? I really want these 😭

don't worry, the dimensions of your room are ok, 22 square meters are enough

Oh yeah most definitely from my research and speaking to others these are best for hip hop so im sure they will be for you as well also I have the Focal Trio 11be's upgraded from the Genelec 8351b's and I like them better than the 8351bs even though they sound amazing also the Focals tend to sound accurately the same when i walk around my room the Genelecs not at all but might i add I also place the Focals on an asc monitor stand set the Genelecs where on cheap stands so other than that my next move for hip hop would be to look into some Augspurger speakers which are the top and next best above the Focals for hip hop

Any speaker is good for any style of music so long as you reference right and have a treated room, I've had good results mixed on trash hi-fi speakers in a bedroom because I've had practice and knew what I was doing.
