Equipment editor Jim Park discovers first hand why the 579 is such a popular truck: it's smooth and quiet, solidly build, has cutting-edge aero features and driver amenities, and it gets really great fuel mileage too. What's not to like?
I love my 579,just not as good as the epic truck but still with my canestoga doing all the time 80.000 7.2 MLS/gal. Would say not to bad for the North East coast with lots of traffic and big Hill's
Hi Tammy, I started driving in 1978. I gave up driving full time in 1998 to be come a writer. I now write for HDT and Today's Trucking magazines ... and do video test drives.
When I started the trip in Scottsdale, the trip fuel economy was 7.8. I reset it before beginning the trip to Denton. The mileage you see on screen was the same screen I was looking at. The first day of the trip went from Scottsdale to Holbrook AZ and then onto Santa Rosa, NM. There were some small mountains and two-lane roads on that leg of the trip. The second day was Santa Rosa to Denton. It was flat, interstate-type highway with the prevailing winds at my back. The gross weight was as described, and I did have a scale ticket at the time. And I was driving very conservatively at 65 rather than 75 and taking advantage of every coasting opportunity that came my way. This video is totally legit.
@@firstamendmenttshirt4768 I'm pretty sure hes going to lie about his gross weight, right? I dont get you conspiracist. You're not buying this truck so what do you care?
@@CACressida look whoever you think you are I drive for a living. I know what is realistic. Look at the video it was flat land tell a consumer what you want an lose a costumer go ahead tell me more with your attitude you will lose a costumer in the Future. Flatland..when you apologize for your stupidity I will be waiting. How about since you know more buy one for me and prove me WRONG.
