As you can see guys the Focus RS blew up. So about 3 months we felt the car didn’t have the same power as when it first got tuned. The car felt much slower but we didn’t know exactly why. It was throwing an overboost code, we figured it might’ve been the waste gate. We then installed a brand new waste gate and as we drove the car it still felt the same, “lack of power”We let it sit and didn’t drove it hard at all. One day we went out to get some runs even though the car wasn’t at its full potential (Dumb idea) then this happened. The car is up and running with a new engine.
The Civic Si broke down the same week the Focus RS broke. So the Si had transmissions issues, 2nd gear broke. I Drove the car for a couple weeks with no 2nd gear. I didn’t wanna deal with opening the transmission and figuring out what exactly happened. At the time I just wanted to quit on the car put it back to stock and return it. However I decided to buy another oem 2020 Civic Si transmission with low mileage, the car will be up and running in a few days.
We decided we’re gonna take a break from racing for now, since these are the only cars we have. However we are gonna post some pov’s and pulls here and there. They’re both gonna get tuned again so stay tuned for that.

Back in 2014 I was making 422 whp on my Focus ST. I always monitor knock on all cylinders and I noticed knock on cylinder one and oil catch can was getting filled faster. So right away I did a compression test and cylinder 3 was low yet car still ran hard asf. I ordered forged pistons and rods and rebuilt the bottom block. When I opened the block the piston #3 ring land was broken...If I kept running it eventually too much oil would get in the cylinder and oil can't be compressed and I probably would of broke a rod and cracked my block but I saved my engine just because I was monitoring knock and I quickly did a compression test and decided to rebuild the block before more damage was done saving me tons of cash. So I suggest to always monitor your engine and learn to do a compression check it takes 10 minutes tops. Obviously more things to look at so learn what to look for.

I mean you were on upgraded turbo and ethanol I assume, it would make sense your engine to start braking down. Also ST engines are stronger than RS engines. But I didnt expect it to blow just with bolts ons and a 93oct tune, it was only at 370whp

Yep. Happened to mine last year. 150k on it. It had a slight misfire going home one night and I hit the gas a bit too hard down the road from home and it blew. Flames and all like yours. Windowed both sides of my block. I ended up doing a brand new complete motor (yes, believe it or not on this old ass thing) and added a new intercooler because the old one had too much metal inside. I’ve done a clutch as well. Plenty of work has gone into this thing and it’s in great shape so I figured I’d keep it going 🙄

Same here but the car only had 70k miles 🤦‍♂️ We also replaced the intercooler, clutch and installed a brand new engine. Currently running a Stage 2 ots tune for now until it goes Fbo (again) then dyno tune it on Flex fuel.

@@Dimelowcrew I think I’ll be going with a tune myself at some point. The goal was to have fun and mod this cause I got a killer deal on it and it was in beautiful shape overall. It didn’t end up that way after blowing a clutch and the a year later blowing a motor. It also has a new fuel pump lol. At this point I’ll just keep it. Great car but these things are a pain!

@@AnthonyTalerico I agree with you, it’s a great car, fun to drive and rare to see. But they are a pain there’s always little issues here and there lol and a tune really wakes up the car.

@@Dimelowcrew have you done a dyno with the tune? I hear they wake it up a lot. This is my first turbo. Everything I’ve ever owned was NA

@@AnthonyTalerico Yea man turbo cars easily gain hp with a tuner. So with Cobb stage 2 you should be around 330hp-340hp to the wheels, but you will need an intake and intercooler. Last year I dyno the car on Cobb stage 2 and it was making 350whp but it was Fbo (Full bolt ons). Then I got an actual dyno tune and it made 370whp/380wtq on 93oct.

Hah you know what’s funny is my second gear actually was chipped in my si when I tore down transmission they oem gears don’t hold up for nothing bro mfactory sells a 1-4 gearset maybe if your second trans decides to leave the chat give them a try personally I have ppg 1-4 and i have yet to have a problem driving the same way I drove before
@Dimelowcrew
@Dimelowcrew 3 месяца назад
Yea I was gonna buy a ppg gearset but buying a new trans was cheaper lol. I was doing digs and one time I completely missed 2nd gear really bad and since there it wasn’t the same. Now I got a new trans and an upgraded turbo ima keep doing roll racing (no digs) I’ve seen you have an upgraded turbo Si, how has it been holding up?

@@Dimelowcrew can’t go wrong with w2 or rv6 r365. I’ve had the r365 over a year now no issues do arp headstuds tho i did one at a time close to 45k miles ago and I’ve never had an issue headgasket wise. The w3 came out I’m going to install a boundary oil pump gear and accord 2.0t direct injection upgrade and see if a stock motor can make 400whp. ARP headstuds and oil changed every 2k miles you shouldn’t have an issue (at least I haven’t) for
@Dimelowcrew
@Dimelowcrew 3 месяца назад
@@CandybuiltsiYea I already have ARP Headstuds I also did them 1 by 1, never had any issues on stock turbo and flex fuel, hopefully I’ll be fine now with the w2 turbo. 400whp on stock motor would be crazy if you do it. Prl did 500hp on stock motor but didn’t last long. But idk about 400hp. I think 350whp is the limit for reliability.
@Candybuiltsi
@Candybuiltsi 3 месяца назад
@@Dimelowcrew well my thought is if you can make 350 whp 330 wtq starting at 3800 rpm with like a w2 why can’t you make 400whp and 330wtq a 5k rpm wouldn’t it actually be safer since the torque is now higher these motors actually handle torque really well idk how but they do. My only fear would be now a oil pump gear shattering revving anything above 7k
@Dimelowcrew
@Dimelowcrew 3 месяца назад
@@CandybuiltsiI mean it’s possible bro. But waiting for 5k rpm for boost to start kicking in just to rev it to maybe 7.5k rpm lol. I was actually talking to a guy that made 420whp on a built engine with a Prl turbo kit and he said its still blew up 🤦‍♂️. I feel like Honda released every Si built differently 😂. I’ve seen people that blow their engine on stock turbo, others run forever with an upgraded turbo, others have clutch issues just with an ots tune, others still have stock clutch on Fbo E30, and the head gasket issues too 🤷‍♂️ Mines been great so far (engine wise)
