In this video I will explain you step by step how you can do focus stacking in the Canon EOS R7 to achieve an image with a larger depth of field. The final depth composite image will be done directly in camera as a jpeg, however you can also store the original raw files.

Another reason to love my R7! In all honesty, I didn't even know it could do this! I bought the camera because the sensor, the C-LOG 4K and several other reasons. I knew it had more abilities than what I was using, but this is one I hadn't even thought about! I followed your instructions and produced several great macro photos of a vintage pocket watch! So sharp, so clear and so little effort! Thank you!

I'm doing these focus brackets daily in my R7 handheld. Occasionally it will say composite stopped because of camera movement but most of the time it does the bracket stack with no problem. 10 to 16 shots will often get an entire dragonfly or large bug in focus using the spacing about two clicks bigger than the minimum.

I've had the R7 for less than a month and didn’t know it could do this. I've used the camera mainly for birds and wildlife so far, but now Im anxious to mount my EF f2.8 100mm macro lens on it and try some macro shots. Up to now, I have always been disappointed by my macro shots because of depth of field issues. Now I'm excited to try macro photography again. Thank you for the video.

That's very important! I am using this function to take macro photos for my online store products - imagine you have to stack the hundreds of pics manually - it's a nightmare even if possible in Photoshop! I picked the wrong camera (Sony), now I have to sell it to buy the new Canon R8 for this and the 4k 60p functions. Beware the older RP does NOT do in-camera stacking, that's why it's now so cheap.

Hi and thanks for the usual quality of your tuto videos. If I understand well the R5 (and probably the R6 as well) allows to make focus braketing but doesn't create a final stacked image... Right ???
@FabianFoppNaturephotography
Thanks! Yes, on the R5 it works exactly As you described
@ForrestWest
@ForrestWest Год назад
That is correct. They will do a focus bracket but only the R7 will compile them in the camera.
@dougsmit1
@dougsmit1 Год назад
@@ForrestWest Just an opinion: Using the in camera compilation may be easier but disabling it lets you delete the extra shots that cause too much background to be sharp and also allows you to delete any images that you might feel introduced some problem (a live insect flicking an antenna). The big thing is with DPP4 you can save the result as a 16 bit TIFF for further processing in the software of your choice. JPG only? No thanks.
@FabianFoppNaturephotography
But it is in any way recording the raw files. So you can always process them (or delete some) in DPP. Or am I missing something?
