Oh man, I wish I felt that way. I want to go back to my kids being little. I would do so many things differently, and I would double down on the things I did right. I wouldn't worry so much, and just breath in all the good stuff.
Reading this now as my boys are 9 and 10 years old. It’s a good reminder to slow down and appreciate the moment. They’re going to be 18 and moving out before we know it 😢 I need to soak in these days now
That was beautiful and just what I needed. I’m struggling with this summer ending. Especially with our failed tomatoes: started 40 and haven’t gotten a good tomato yet for various reasons. I’ve been struggling more than usual this summer with seeing the failures and struggles rather than the beauties and blessings. I’ve been working on it; and this video helps inspire me. Thank you.
I totally agree. There's a sense of melancholy when the Black-eyed Susan flowers and the rest of the flower garden looses its vibrancy. If you think of your glass half full, you will eagerly await the garden of 2025. Be still and enjoy the moment. Safe travels and enjoy family time. Stu makes you one awesome cup of caffe.
My late angel mother used to say "All things are as they should be" I've taken that into every aspect of my life and it breathes life into my sometimes anxious soul. Thanks for sharing your gardens with us.
We’re going on vacation with our family this weekend- let’s cook. Italian has such a beautiful rhythm and musical quality - great job learning a new language!
In North Texas it was 105 today and no rain in well over a month. School started the 14th for my grandchildren. I still have okra in my garden, and peppers in my 5 gal buckets. My tomatoes, beans and cucumbers did well but are long gone most of my shrubs, and flowers are hanging on with diligent watering. I am looking forward to fall. Chicken salad sounds wonderful. Congrats on doing so well with your Italian. ❤❤
Oh Shaye… (I think you’re about the same age as my oldest daughter)… you’re still super fresh & adorable!!! Give yourself 20 years before thinking the bloom is off the rose
Because ive been TRYING to learn spanish, i could clearly pick up what i think to mean "our family" on our Italian phrase. 😂 But boy did it sound beautiful!!❤
Another great video and love the content, the photography you two interacting the food even a little glitch in the sound didn’t matter. I was there for the ride and totally enjoyed it. Thanks
I really love this comment because as a brand new RU-vidr, I'm always so self-conscious about trying to make everything "perfect" that I end up becoming overly critical about my videos. Which is funny because one of the things I LOVE about this channel is that it feels real and in the moment. Thank you for reminding me that there is beauty in EVERY part of the journey. ♡
I was sad the summer is passing so fast...but when I heard you saying i will not go back to yesterday...it make me change my mind...it made me happier for future challenges❤🎉❤🎉
Dear Elliots, I paused the video after the Italian phrase just to congratulate you, Shaye, on your progress! It's great to see you so giddy when you say a phrase in Italian and I'm happy that it makes you happy =) Italian is a beautiful language so just keep up the great work! The phrase means: This weekend we're going on a vacation with our family and so we cook! Again, I love all the little grains of wisdom we here in your videos lately ❤ All the best to all your family =)
Lovely video. I'm in Montana and there's a hint that winter will be here early. I welcome that but I'd like to see my garden grow a little bit longer. The weather this year really stunted our garden but I have been grateful for every little treat. Now it's back to flourishing but maybe not for long. I must be like a boat in a current and go with the flow. I feel grateful for it all.
Y’all are killin it with the videos. The end made me tear up with the sunflower pic🥹 so sweet! “This weekend we are going on vacation with family and friend and we are cooking”…something like that lol
I look forward to your videos when I make the time for a bit of watching. I love checking in here and there. Your monologues bring calm, and peace and reflection to me. Choosing to view things as a glass half full. Summer is my absolute favourite time of year so I am soaking every bit up.
I’m back watching I like this so much better. I like to follow what people are doing and if you fix lunch or dinner along the way greater still it was in your day. Thus seems more how you started this channel. More fun than sitting for a cooking class. Glad you’re back!
This weekend we will be going on vacation with our family and we will be cooking. 🥗 After living in Italy as a teenager, 15+ years ago and not speaking Italian....I can't believe I could understand what you were saying! I love the way Italian sounds.
You asked about comfort food, our family comfort food is mince and rice. Whenever I go to town for our monthly shop i make it or just for something hearty and lovely. Growing up it was my mum's curry and roti or macaroni cheese.
So true, a wave of melancholy came over me when seeing things come to a screeching hault😢. We still have a beautiful Green Mountain foliage wich will cheer the spirit😍. Nice to see you both! JO JO IN VT 💞
@@theelliotthomestead lol!!! You sort of have to laugh at them whether they're funny or not but I Agree..this was funny😂 A group of us nurses have been following you for quite awhile especially during our long hours. We absolutely 💓 your channel!
"This weekend we are going on vacation with our family, so let's cook!" I hope you have a wonderful camping trip! ...my comfort reset food is always an egg sandwich :)
I make a gardiniera that I love but forgot I had it in the pantry. Huge changes this summer that we are adjusting to. Thank you for the recipe. Just pulled some chicken from the freezer to oil poach and will make this to enjoy for lunch this coming week. Looking forward to it!
Dang ok wasnt expecting to cry over a sunflower today 🥹 maybe its the pregnancy hormones. I love the added couples view. The communication between you guys is so warm. "This weekend we're going on an adventure with our family, so lets cook"?
Hello glorious family... love everything about your channel. So very inspiring. Italian sentence: "Hi, this weekend we are going on vacation with our family so we cook a chicken to take.'
Your focus on the present moment shines through in everything you do, from the dedication to your garden and the delicious chicken salad to your adventures with travel-food and the exciting giveaways. It’s wonderful to see how you balance hard work with enjoyment and generosity. Your approach is both inspiring and uplifting, reminding us all to savor the now while sharing joy with others. And I am Floating Village Life, Hit follow and let's explore together!
Loved this video! I’ve heard you mention your childhood obsession with sunflowers on the podcast, and it was so fun to see the photograph! Your son who brought in the tomatoes looks like you! 🥰
I’m with you as a grandmother I wouldn’t want to go back in time. I love my life but it’s not so good I’d want to do it over. The first thing I want when I get home is bread. No one has good bread. I pull the sourdough starter out of the fridge and get that going and get a few pieces of bread out of the freezer for breakfast toast.
At the end of the week we are going on vacation with our family, so let’s cook! I really hope you keep up an Italian phrase each video even after this month. Its such a fun little moment of Italy each week
Questo fine di semana andiamo en vacanza con la nostra familglia quindi cuciniamo It translates close to at the end of the week our family will go on vacation now let’s cook :)
Comfort food- I agree with you- chicken broth and noodles is the best. When I was going through cancer treatment, my chicken broth was almost the only thing I was able to tolerate- the best ❤. Your garden is wonderful 😊
I enjoy seeing your spouse helping you in your 'pretty place' as well as the veggies. Hubby started helping me out trying to Conquer saplings and bind weed along the fence between out neighbors and us. The previous owner planted a very long flower bed along the chain link fence, lots of iris which she was breeding, and day lilies, and peonies, some Echanacia, and some poppies...can't recall the rest, but it has really gotten out of control. If I had nothing else to do, I could probably keep that under control, but alas, busy granny working in veggie garden is about all I have time for because I farm sit for places like yours when you leave!
questo fine di semana andiamo en vacanza con la nostra famiglia quindi cuciniamo. keep it up, no matter how hard it seems to learn a new language, its always fun. Great video.
