When other people encourage me to eat high FODMAP foods because they can't bear me missing out, I say....should I choose to abstain or choose pain?? It's a no brainer to me! Yes I miss some foods, but I certainly enjoy my new pain free life much much much more. Thanks for this video - it's so encouraging to feel a little less 'different' from most people around me. x
Excellent advice, when I started the low FODMAP diet, the thing that helped me the most was not getting down on myself if I have a day where I eat foods not on my low FODMAP list. It's ok to have that "choice" and it's ok to start all over the next day and not think you've lost all that has gone into your new lifestyle! Thanks so much for your amazing videos Julie, you are the best ever!!!!!!
thank you for all this information. I'm doing this little by little I'm getting better at it. Some things on the low don't work for me and some things on the high do. Trial and error is a lot of work and some pain involved. I keep telling myself no quilt just keep experimenting and you will find the things that work.
Most individual spices are FODMAP free or have safe servings. Something worth noting, although chili and cayenne pepper are low fodmap they can be a gut irritant to many people. There are increasingly more fodmap safe spice blends available but the cheapest way is to create your own blends from whole spices. I always have several on the go including a smoky Mediterranean, curry powder, fodmap safe stock and a sweet spice blend for porridge, smoothies etc. The best place to find specific fodmap safe ingredients and serving sizes is in the Monash app linked above, it's worth every penny.
hi Julie, the link to FODMAP shopping list doesn't work, can you check please, thx. And thank you for the work you're doing, I'm new on this trail, getting some relief, sorting thru goods & not goods, and getting somewhere with it all. :) Jim
I'm loving this tough love attitude. A quick tip to make things even easier rather than writing out a list of low FODMAP foods is you can favourite individual foods right in the app and even add them to a shopping list. This is a great way to help you out at the grocery store and gives you a quick, at a glance list of all your favourites.
You seem to be very well versed, and have a lot of information to share. Thank you. But I cannot watch your videos. I tried. First one that I saw was eating at Mexican Restaurants. After three and a half minutes of no pertinent information, I had to go elsewhere. I decided to listen to a more current one, to see if you were more experienced, and got to the information quicker. I really don't need to know what you are not going to tell us, just the info that I'm watching it for. After a minute and a half, I gave up. I don't mean to be rude, and it's just my opinion.
Thank you for this video. I have a family member who has been on this diet almost two years but we are still struggling with simple, easy recipes. She can not ignore the diet. She has to be on it. Do you have any good baked chicken recipes?
I have tried this diet, I think 3-4 times and mess up every time. This time I’m really trying to stick to it and learn how to do it right. If you get to where I am you would not turn off the video. I need this, info. I need more info on stacking, it’s so hard to understand.
