Someone did a great job of restoring this classic concert! Foghat is truly a classic rock and roll band with 8 gold LPs and a string of some of the best rock and blues songs ever! One of the top bands to come out in the 70's and still rockin today! And why they're not in the rock and roll hall of fame makes no sense at all!! Long Live The Foghat!! Rock On
My mistake they had 5 gold records and 1 platinum! The platinum being ''Fool for the City'' which i think should have gone gold for the title song itself!! just saying!!
@@robertmceuen3630 Your right Rob! The Hall of Shame is exactly what it is now! They have chosen to promote themselves instead of the artist in order to sell themselves to publicity and money! The selection system is a laughing scam because Jan Wenner has lost touch with what it was meant to be and that is a ROCK and ROLL HALL of FAME!!
Why...? Yes, it makes sense --Foghat is authentic Rock & Roll and the R&RHOF is a sham. Anything genuine doesn't require outside validation. ROCK ON and RIP, Lonesome Dave & Company!
The Golden Age of Rock and Roll. Huge thanks to my older brother-now deceased-who used to bring ALL of the great LPs of the period home for me to hear. The Who, Mott, Led Zep, Humble Pie, Blue Oyster Cult, Yes, Foghat, Genesis, T Rex, Stones, Deep Purple, James Gang,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,so many more!,,,,,,,,,,,,,omg we were so spoiled by SO MUCH great music in those days. And it will live on.....not like the garbage the "industry" pumps out these days.
... thou such a smallish list - yea I know - 100's more belong on it. Those days when 'Talent' was seemingly running rampant. When u could put an LP on and every cut was a hit in its own way. I then think towards current times - I kinda think part of the problem is most chords n' rhythms were done taken and used and singers egos pop after a few outings. Thou again b kinda hard for these pups to get somethin together without soundin like someone else - infringement if obtaining airplay SO hence the Grunge Rock phase of the 90's. Then there's the fake techie drummin, etc. that gained pop - only one that could ever pull that off was the one hit wonder of Aldo Nova (lol) - maybe a few others since but u get the drift.
I was just sitting here listening to this and traveling back to so many years ago. I said to myself “let’s look and see what people have to say” and the first comment was yours. I’m 59 and like you my older brother (gone now for 10 years) had all this great stuff pumping out of his bedroom daily. I would be sitting in the early, early days maybe still playing with my Hot Wheels, but bopping my head to the rhythm. Shortly I was invited in his room and he, my next oldest brother and I would listen to all the music you listed and all the others greats. Grand Funk Railroad was a mainstay. I don’t think those today understand what it was like to have whole albums of great new music every week landing in the record stores. It truly was a “Golden Age”! I am taken back and flooded with emotion watching and hearing this. It was probably solely responsible for me picking up an electric guitar and playing to this day. I went on different musical journeys, but this R&R/R&B will always be in my blood. Take care my Man…✌️
Yeah, we were spoiled back then and didn’t know it. So much music and so many great groups and good music. I used to wait for a Radio station to play a new album release by my favorite bands so I could record it on my tape deck. Then I’d listen to it again and usually I’d go out and buy it. Tape decks were great! They used to be excitement in anticipation of a new album release. I remember waiting until midnight to hear Led Zeps In through the Outdoor. And boy did they deliver once again. The album was different than what I expected but was still great! Foghat was another great live band that toured constantly. We had it too good! Now I still have my CDs but I don’t listen to Radio anymore. Only RU-vid! Thank God RU-vid exists so I can see and hear this great music over again! 😊
I’ll say it again. Thank God for older brothers. Turned me onto the best music. So lucky to grow up in the 70’s and 80’s. But the 70’s were so good. Oh the memories.
My favorite band. I’m a fan of 70s rock and metal. Slow ride will forever be my ultimate favorite song. ❤️👍🏻 it and the band were the first I fell in love with.
@@kobartlett Wow. You’re right. I saw Foghat in ‘78, and it was Foreigner I saw in ‘80 on the Double Vision tour. Thanks for untangling those memories for me. 😂
How underrated and overlooked has this great r&b band been?? This is a hall of fame band and is a crime they're not in there, along with Guess Who and Blue Oyster Cult !! RIP LONESOME DAVE AND ROD🕊🕊
This is just the best vintage Foghat I have ever seen. I grew up listening to them in the 70s. Always had a Foghat 8 track tape in the deck while cruising on those warm summer nights back in the good ole days.
That was freaking awesome, original Foghat, scorching hot, some really great guitar, straight ahead, serious Rock n Roll! They were more than just a couple hits on the radio. Great live set, glad we get to watch it, primo stuff from the 1970s. Rock On! 🎸🎸
Was lucky to see Rod Price with Foghat back in the day. It was a Halloween night show in Kansas City, with Blue Oyster Cult and Pat Travers Band supporting. Ah, those WERE the days!
September 72 as a freshman in high school Foghat's debut album was one of the first hard rock albums I listened to. It's an amazing album that introduced me to the blues and Chuck Berry's music
If you’re old enough to remember when Foghat was made up of-- Lonesome Dave Peverett: rhythm and lead guitars, vocals Rod Price: lead and slide guitars, back vocals Tony Stevens: bass, back vocals Roger Earl: drums, percussion This channel is for you. I saw the current Foghat lineup two years ago at Wild Adventures south of Valdosta, Georgia and had a blast. Hats off to Roger Earl for keeping the band going. But seeing all four original members giving a rip-roaring show was one for the ages.
I don’t believe we will ever see a time of such quality and honest musical expression again. What a time it was to be alive!!! I remember driving with my brother in his 67’ or 68’ convertible Pontiac LeMans, top down with Foghat blasting away.😎
Foghat broke my innocence, 13 years old, Bob devaney sports center, Lincoln Nebraska, had someone buy us a fifth of Southern comfort, bottle of Dr pepper, bought a doobie at the show, non-smoking arena, fired it up during foghat, smoked it, state troopers converged but never discovered😊 no one gave us up😮 those were the days😊 59 and still rocking in 2024
Also if ya dig and enjoyed this video by Foghat and grew up on their music 😀 you may also enjoy the song " Most of All " By Glenn Kaiser and Where Roses Grow Live by Rez Band Awesome songs check them out. Also I remember hearing the song by Led Zepp " In My Time of Dyin " during my drug years and made me think about death and Jesus. Then a hippy friend that dug Jesus told me more of Jesus love and forgiveness and how I could also know Jesus love. So in 1981 I cried out to Jesus and wow man He came into my life and I had and have so much joy and peace and now know that through Jesus when I die I will be with Him in Heaven. Hey Jesus loves each of you also and yall can know Him if you are at all open. Just cry out to Him and a good question to ask yourself if you were to die today would you go to heaven ? And if yes why ? To find out more please read the Gospel of John in the Bible or check out the movie on RU-vid. 😀
My first concert was in 77’ I was 14. Foghat came to town in May of 78’ and my friends and I took a slow ride to see them because we were fools for the city. We were stoned blue by the end of the show 🎉
Yeah, he is sort of like the forgotten slide guitar player. Rarely mentioned in slide guitar player lists. Had a great style. If you get the chance check out some of their 90's and 00's shows on YT -- there's one in particular when he was playing with Foghat (Dave, Rod, Earl, and a bass guy I can't remember), it's some fairground show in the Midwest -- pro shot, stereo sound. Just as good as we see here. They still had it. Drivin' Wheel, Slow Ride. It's kickass.
Way back when i was a pup in high school - back in the day of say '73 - used to get those mailings for Columbia Record Club or what not stating the get 10 buy 1 n then 1 every month for a yr. bs - well joined n' snatched up BOC's 'On Yur Feer or On Yur Knees' - Aerosmith - Nazareth and many others - Foghats Rock n' "Bun" was one of em - never even hearin' of em before had chcked it off to complete the order. First car ever owned - '70 1/2 Z28 - radio delete - wired up a quadrophonic 8-track deck in it thou only had 2 'real quad' tapes for it 'so far'. That deck had a synth button for added simulation of 'non-quad'. Was kinda like the old Sansui Synthesizers. Pluggered Foghat in n hit the synth - WOW lemme just say - those 4 big ol 30oz n 20oz magnet speaks ( 2 in back shelf - 2 just lyin under the front seats - aint cuttin kick panels nor would they fit anyways ) thru that quad synth was drivin this bands diff signals all over the innerds couldnt b beat for the time. Everyone i knew were soon into em - huge school - huge amt. of humans - all into rock - ran out n' gotta copy of that LP or tape asap. Back in the 70's lucky enuff to see em 5 times at big venues within range - these guys 'always' rocked the house down ! By the way one of the best 'factory quad' tapes ever and had quite a few from those days due to havin a quad deck in house too ......." Aerosmith - Rocks " - the cut of 'Back In The Saddle' was undoubtedly way beyond 4-dimensional.
I watched this when it first aired and managed to record the audio from the crappy TV speaker onto a cassette tape. Almost had to listen to it every day before school. Had to get prepared, don'tcha know. A magic time. Glad I was there for most of it.
I was very lucky to see them at the Cow Palace in San Francisco, in 78'. Eddie Money opened for them. One of the rowdiest concerts I'd ever been to. Great show!
Shared a joint and some laughs with Lonesome Dave back in 92. Was airman at Dyess AFB, Abilene, Texas. Foghat played at local concert bar there and we kicked it after they performed
I never knew that Lonesome Dave played guitar! Nice. Like a lot of commenters here, Foghat Live! was the very first album I ever bought. I think…. or it might have been Boston’s first record. It was that strange period between Jr. High & High School. Good times.
Went and saw Foghat several times in the seventies. Tickets were $5. Their songs were always on the radio then. April Wine toured with them a bit, I think.
Saw them live at Winterland in SF in the mid 1970's. They opened for Ruben and the Jets, the Zappa spin-off band. It was a great show. One thing I remember was that Foghat was one of the loudest bands I ever heard...... but in a good way.
brings a tear to my eye, saw this line-up and the same bunch with craig macgregor on bass. we used to have a saying in the group of people i knew, "it's getting a little dull, put some foghat on."
Seeing this made me realize that Foghat is actually part of my DNA now. I was there when they recorded their live album at Alex Cooley's Electric Ballroom.
