Afraid of crashing a foil kite on water? Here's a look at some real-world crashes and relaunches while learning to foil board on a 13m Pelican and 18m Matrixx.
1st relaunch was as easy as it looks - easier to relaunch than an inflatable IMHO. The 2nd crash was about a worst-case scenario: extremely light winds (I had to constantly loop the kite to keep it in the air), open waters (couldn't touch the ground) no board to brace against, and the kite folded over on itself. Despite all this, I was able to get it relaunched relatively quickly, with little to no water intake.
Needless to say, this would have been very difficult conditions for an inflatable kite - probably why I was the only kite on the water that day.
