Foil Your Calligraphy (Super Easy!!!)

I have a TON of "gold" pens, but they never quite give me that metallic shimmer I'm looking for. So today I'm testing out a Foil Quill from We R Memory Keepers, which stamps foil directly to your canvas in the shape of whatever you write. Does it actually work? Let's find out!

This turned out great! You are the 1st lettering person I've started following that is that is OK with not being perfect.. It's so important to see that the "struggle is real!" I am the farthest from perfect and am starting to get burned out by my unrealistic expectations of myself. So glad I found you. ☺ 🤗

YES! I've used mine on so many cards and added a silhouette of my chiweenie to my sunglasses case. I use the calligraphy tip and it's awesome!

I bought the original one for my silhouette machine and love it, I'm saving up for this one too, I have the same problem with finding the right amount of shine in a pen too.

Deco colour, Krylon 24k and Molotow Chrome Effect Pens are amazing. Sakura and posca are also amazing colour-wise.

This looks great! I've been using the Foil Quill with my Silhouette and I really like it. Maybe after I've finished taking your calligraphy classes I'll be able to get this freestyle pen and use my own handwriting. :)

Just amazing🧡🧡🧡. I would have tried to write on the matt side of the foil, with the shiny side facing the card, but as I don't have that pen to test (I wish I had) most probably I'm wrong!! Anyway, for those who cannot afford more expensive method, it seems awesome to me!

I have used the foil pen at an event (doing custom calligraphy on site) at an outdoor event I had no access to electricity, so the USB plug was an absolute lifesaver, since I could connect it to a charging block instead of an outlet. Highly recommend the foil quill in instances like that. Otherwise, I would've used my pyro pen.

Aaaaand I found a really good substitute! I ordered the Pentel Hybrid Dual metallic gel pens and not only are the two colored ones super cool, but the gold and silver ones are extremely good! They almost seem to pop out of the page!

For shiny metallic I usually used heat embossing. Haven’t tried this with lettering.

It looked much shinier than the pens from some angles. Seems it would require more patience than I have though! 😄 Also, nice nail polish though I also like your usual black 🖤

I’ve found the best gold marker, it looks like gold foil. It’s called ‘krylon 18k gold leafing pen’ it’s not cheap tho ❤️🇦🇺

I agree that this is perfect. I have tried a few of the other gold brush pens, but the color is so off, as you said.

I usually struggle with gold and white because it’s never enough “color” (saturation) 😅 Actually I also have lots of different pens and markers, my best white is this thing you use to correct pen mistakes, like “Liquid Paper” (sorry, English isn’t my first language, I don’t know the word). I haven’t tried Posca yet. I like this option for gold! 💙 Which one you like better between this one and embossing powder? Thanks for all this content, Becca! 💕

If you use foil quilling for some sort of design, can you do regular calligraphy on top of the design, or would it scratch it off?

Maybe you should have used some other color like a light blue, black or white. It would look shinier. And the gel pens are not like metallic pens, it's more like ''glitter pen.''

I just looked up the prizes of the foil roles....nope. a 3,5cm x 34,5cm roll costs 10€. That's just plain rip off.
