Hey Jeff. Thanks for the demo and instructions! Looking forward to the upcoming painting of this lure. I like others who have commented struggle getting paint to stick as well as thick lines and ripples.
Would love to see you paint it. I want to see how you layer the top and bottom to eliminate the ridge the foil creates. I foil mine with chrome tape but can't seem to fully eliminate the ridge.
Next week the painting video will be up JP. This foil is very thin and the reason I chose it over other foils. If your product is thicker one way to get lines to not show would be to top coat (epoxy) lure then paint.
Sir, you can use aluminum foil duct tape and it already has adhesive and a paper backing for ease of application. A clear coat will help with paint adhesion and joints as well. Sure you probably already know that but just letting you know, Ol’Son.
I’ve done some foil work but have had trouble w the paint peeling after I clear coat it and use it. I was assuming it’s bc the foil isn’t rough enough to hold the paint on. Have you found this? I was thinking of clearing it after I foil and then painting? Thoughts?
I have had the foil peel off due to the adhesive not holding the foil, but not the paint. Clearing the lure and then using an abrasive to ruff up the clear and then painting for sure would solve the issue. In fact what i use to do with thicker foils so that the foil edges would be covered when painting.
Hate to bother you bother. Question on the wicked details paints. There about 26 colors. I know the opaque. Fluorescent. Pearls. Transparent and the candy's are used quite alot.. but is most the details used much and lure painting.. im sure the main colors are used alot. Probably least half of them. But I didn't want to buy the ones that I Probably wouldn't use..
Best answer i can give is that the detail line is good for detail work. But is not a must have i just sprays well without the need for reducer. So if you just bought a few get black and few other colors you use the most when doing fine detail work
