Anyone familiar with the Fokker F27 Friendship (which has been in service in New Zealand for over 40 years) will immediately recognise the high-pitched whine of the two Rolls Royce Dart engines, as you'll hear on this video. The is one of two F27-500s still in service with Airwork Ltd in New Zealand (as at September 2013).
The aircraft is show taxiing and then taking off at Blenheim Airport in the province of Marlborough, New Zealand.

Love this Old girl f27 friendship. Not many of these about now. Can't beat the sound of the old Rolls Royce Dart prop engines

Most of the trips I went to with my parents were on the Fokker F-27. I still love the high pitched sound of the Rolls-Royce Darts

Childhood memories. Air hostess was serving lemons to all for avoid vomiting and cotton pieces to avoid noise 😂😂😂

Worked in PNG mid 60s and 70s. Did my time on F27s (as a passenger). I considered them luxury when crossing the Owen Stanley range. More than usual was the DC3. Great times.

When we had these airplanes at Mesaba (Northwest Airlink) we affectionately called them "The whistle pigs" . Great airplanes!

My very first airplane ride was aboard a Pacific Airlines F-27 from Fresno, CA to Hollywood/Burbank, CA in 1964.I was 8 yrs old. Loved it.

spent three years on relief staff for a large bank and flew into a lot of small country airports in the Fokker over those years. Remember one landing at Innisfail with a large cyclone off the coast. It was a real bumpy ride all the way but ended in an excellent landing.

Imagine a country airport. Possibly the only flight of the day. The flies are busy. The Fokker brings the world to a distant small community and has the stage to itself as it taxis to the terminal. What a performance. In no time it is turned around and off again to the next town on its milk run.

Amazing quality video! I do miss the fabulous F27's. Used to be a common sight at my home airport, Bournemouth, when Channel Express were around. Unmistakeable sound of those incredible Dart engines.

The first time I ever went up, I was 7, it was in an F27, from Kempsey to Sydney, and I fell in love. That was 43 years ago. Not quite so in love with the old F27 any more, but if someone wanted to give me a Kingair...

I remember long ago visiting my grandparents in New Zealand we flew in from Canada to Auckand, stay the night and fly out to Naiper/Hawkes Bay in a Fokker F27 Friendship owned by NAC (later part of Air New Zealand). That was the fun part of the trip.

Magnificent bit of aviation machinery.Just to add, while I personally can't remember F27s, they were a large part of my parents life, living in a remote town in the middle of nowhere. Took all day, from sunrise to sunset, stopping everywhere, to cover around 1800 plus miles, delivering mail, freight, medical supplies, and passengers.
