I havent seen anything from Balogun since he’s joined the USMNT

He’s bang average. Which means he probably deserves a spot in the squad lol

@Charliedavies , Explain pecking order to me as it pertains to goals and assists per 90. Which of we look at Sargent vs haji and especially balogun- Sargent literally had a goal every 110 minutes. And that’s even coming back after 4 months away and still being their most depended 9. Imagine if he didn’t miss 4 months that’s about 16-25 games! We’re taking about the best season for any person ever in the championship. And haji plays on the right or left wing. Balogun really showed when he has to play along other quality attackers he’s a third option bc he’s limited with his back to goal and finishing crosses. Sargent didn’t all of a sudden develop these traits either, he’s just being played every week at the 9. And he and haji together, haji on the wing make Gregg’s vision and apparent philosophy more than a quick 9 who runs behind the backline.

i said it before he switched allegiance to the US that I doubted he was the answer to the USMNT goal-scoring problems. I was looking at it before from an England point of view as to "Does he deserve a call up to the senior England Squad" and the answer was no. The reason is that when you look at the goals he scored when he was at Reims, there was a stat I think it was something along of the lines of - "there was only an average of 2/3 passes before he scored for almost every goal" something like that. This indicates that he scored all his goals on the break when the defenders hoofed it long to him. Fast forward to today and Manaco/USMNT don't usually get counter-attacking chances because they control possession, (Monaco are far better than Reims) he seems to struggle to score from build-up play. When you look at the stats this season at Monaco they aren't very pretty, his shot conversion rate in particular is poor at 17%, he needs roughly 6 shots on goal before he scores, his passing accuracy is 75%. In short, he has lots of weaknesses to his game but few strengths. I honestly think Ricardo Pepi is the best Forward - Centre Forward option for the USMNT at the minute
