Because I've used the fast forward option nearly on every clip i've muted the sound! not sure if it would be improved by adding some music audio?

Thank you for this! I watched this video several times last summer working up the courage to buy the plans and lumber and tackle this exact project, having never really built anything before - and I don't think I could have done it without seeing you do it first. I'm very pleased with my two chairs now.

Thanks for that Steve, I’m pleased you had a go and successfully completed your chairs. I’m sure they’ll be a great addition to your outdoors and whilst you are relaxing in those well made chairs you can contemplate your next challenge 😉 Thanks for the comment and the compliment. Cheers Steve (yep all woodworkers are called Steve 😂)

I built one myself about 3 years ago..fun little project... I see you used osmo..that stuff is so expensive. I used that no-nonsense decking oil from Screwfix think it cost me £20..for 5 litres.really good stuff I've left mine out in the rain and all kinds of wether..the wood has never warped or anything. I also used redwood..like you.I can't talk highly enough about this stuff,,
@Phenrica
@Phenrica 5 лет назад
Mr Slim Guy 65 Thanks for the watch and comment, luckily the osmo was left over from a paying job so was a freebie. Yep the redwood is standing up to the weather here as well, did you re coat yours? Cheers Steve

A very nice project, and co incidentally a project that I am looking at right now, so you pitched this video with perfect timing for me, the only thing about these is that they look very bulky to store, but I suppose I have got 7 barns to choose from. This would look nice in Cedar, Music always causes so much distraction, it is only any good for videos with no interesting content, a sort of padding, Chris B.
@Phenrica

I've just purchased the plans and seen your video; very inspiring to get a couple of these ready for the summer in the garden. do you still have your cutting list for this so I can work out the amount of timber I need. Thanks, a great job well done on this video.
@Phenrica
@Phenrica 3 года назад
Hi Daisy, I’ve just made some fixed back ones very similar to these video link here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-kBacaYx2Y5k.html anyway the timber requirements are 1 x 1.5m(5’) x 200mm (8”) x 25mm (1”), 6 x 2.4m (8’) x 150mm (6”) x 25mm (1”) per chair and with what is left over and the offcuts I manage to make a small wine table to accompany them. I tend to use thicker stock (1”) but think the plan calls for 3/4” so there is some slight adjustments on the cross members or the seat slats if you go with the thicker stock. Hope this helps. Cheers Steve ps depending on the moisture content and the season the back fixing can become tight or slack I just use some small thin wedges to overcome, they’re still going strong 4 yrs on

@garethrobinson1729
@garethrobinson1729 3 года назад
Good video but was waiting on a review, how long to do, your opinion, snags you ran into etc
@Phenrica
@Phenrica 3 года назад
Sorry about that Gareth, this was one of my first videos, in terms of time as I recall it took about 3 days, once the templates are made subsequent chairs are about 1/2 the time. No real snags, just determining the gap between the slats initially was fiddly, however once dialled in to the size with some spacers it was a breeze. like most projects you feel like you need 3 hands so a decent set of clamps/grips are a must. They're still going strong 3 yrs living outside in the northwest of the UK, the only issue is wood movement where the back slots into the legs, in warm/dry weather can be loose, so i added some wedges and when damper (late autumn/fall) when I collapse them to store they can be tight! Finally these are quite low so can be a bit awkward for older folk to get out of, and they're quite heavy but I used 1"/25mm Redwood pine! other species of timber might help this out. Would i build them again yes and still do for friends and family. The plans are easy to follow and once you've made the templates then they're there whenever you want them. Hope this helps Cheers Steve

@Phenrica
@Phenrica 3 года назад
I actually used some Allen (hex) stainless steel machine bolts that had a domed head with a stainless locking nut, M10 thread as I recall with a stainless washer at both bolt head and nut ends, they work a treat and still going strong some 3 yrs on 👍🏻 Thanks for the watch, comment and question. It's really quality stuff, each bit designed/drafted for perfection ru-vid.comUgkx5WQ3WP9ku9goJTCwWiteQ2BfbhKsH_vl Chairs that are comfortable as heck, but would also probably last generations and all sorts of abuse, not that I'm going to put it through that. Everything about this chair is pleasant, the only thing I'd make a note of is that the low back may be an issue for some. For me, it's comfy and sits just right.

Hello, I'm working on one of these chairs right now and I have a question for you regarding the armrest supports. Are we supposed to drill four screw holes in both sides? Wouldn't that make it so the leg swivel would not work? I would appreciate your help on this. I have used your video through every step.
@Phenrica
@Phenrica 4 года назад
Hi Edmund, if you’re talking about the two angle brackets then you only drill the 4 screw holes in one (this attaches then to the arm) and the other has the single larger hole for the carriage bolt, it’s this that attaches to the leg and gives it the swivel. Hope this helps. Cheers Steve. Ps thanks for the view and question, if I can help further please just ask.

The Adirondack is a very American design. Is it common abroad?
@Phenrica
@Phenrica 6 лет назад
Joey Suggs Hi Joey I guess the design came from the Adirondack region in New York State USA. The design is quite worldwide I believe, they’re very comfortable as a outside/garden lounge chair plus quite a straight forward woodworking project. Normally they’re of a fixed build type which makes them awkward to store etc in the winter months so the folding ones make this easier imho. Hope this helps
