Folding bicycle 16” vs 20” - Which folding bike is better?

Which is better ? 16” wheel folding bike or 20” wheel folding bike?
I compare two sizes of folding bike in this video.
Most people will choose a 16 inch wheel folding bike or a 20 inch wheel folding bike so here are the benefits to each, 16” is better for commuting and storing in small spaces and is very easy to put on a train or bus. 20 inch wheel folding bike is faster, can carry More gear if you are on a folding bike tour. I like to buy second hand folding bikes. After years of folding bike adventuring I have now found the perfect set ups and accessories for me. Best of luck on your folding bike adventure!

One more thing: I guess it comes down to the bike itself. I have a Brompton (16") and a Tern Link (20"). The Brompton outperforms the Tern by a long shot although the wheels are smaller. It's just that all the components are much better "in-sync" with each other...
@felixcat9318
@felixcat9318 4 года назад
There's a really strong movement of people riding around the world or doing very extensive touring trips using Brompton bicycles. Because the Brompton fits in overhead lockers on airlines there's nothing to pay to fly with them, likewise on trains, coaches, buses and boats. A common theme is their suitability, reliability and practicality, which for the smallest folding bicycle is really quite an achievement! Small folding bicycles are hugely underrated, as your videos prove. You're inspiring people to get some inexpensive kit together and to get travelling.

I bought a 16 inches folding bike. Then yesterday I bought 20 inches hito. Both different folding bike are same shimano 7 speed bicycle. BUT for my 16 inches, I can ride so easily and hit 33km per hour speed. But on this hito, the top speed is 27km per hour and my both knee cap are so sore after a few mins ride. Both are same 7 speed, but maybe the crank set and cog on a 20 inches bicycle make it very difficult to ride once above gear 3. For my 16 inches folding bike even at gear 7, it still feel very affordless.

Try to find a folding bike with 600mm seatpost. At least the seatpost with that length *and* diameter you can easily find in online. Note: my folding bike has seat tube diameter 30.4mm and I can't find 600mm seatpost in online shops. Sad.
@krob9145
@krob9145 3 года назад
Wouldn't those telescopic seat post work? I recall seeing one where you adjust the post and after that there's room for further extension telescopic extension. Smaller wheels means the shorter spokes are stronger for heavier folks. Even so go for a sturdier type with medium with tires and these are going to be heavier to carry. Like his tour bike with 20 inch wheels but even sturdier.
@jolyonstone4942
@jolyonstone4942 2 года назад
@@h4rsono I have the same problem on my Montana Nodo which is a 20" italian folder a bit like a Tern (but with standard mtb width hubs). I have a 30.4mm seat post and the inside diameter is exactly 25.4mm. So I took a standard 1" (25.4mm) seat post (with a proper rail clamp, not a collar), fitted it in, two screws tapped into the inside post and job's done. The major disadvantage is that when I fold I have to take the post out because it won't go far enough down before touching the ground. I also have a hoseclip on mine at the right seatpost extension so that it won't slip down in the frame. This also means that everytime I put the post back in it automatically stops at the right height!
