I appreciate a bike with fenders. Who wants a black stripe on your back when driving in the rain? Yes, my Raleigh had no fenders as a kid, but my Schwinn bike did have it. I delivered papers on my Schwinn, so I was in bad weather. What I am saying is that YOU SHOULD GET FENDERS! I saw an USA Electric bike for a base price of $1000. It had fenders. Not saying you need Electric, but they know the value of fenders!
We have Giant folding bikes with 16 inch wheels. Not bad - we use them on select camping trips with our Vistabule - they fit well in our Outback. Small wheel size and limited gearing limits their off road capabilities but at the right site they are a good way to get around. For home use we ride CatTrike recumbent trikes which are really fun, comfortable, and great for long distances - we ride them up to 100 km (60 miles).
Thanks Paul. I like the Giant Expressway 2. Im a weel person. I love all bicycles! I knew this video would not get a huge amount of views (only 12% of Americans ride bicycles) but bicycling has been a fun part of my life. Giant is another good choice. What do you think of the zizzo.bike/products/zizzo-folding-bike-liberte Weighs in at 23 pounds and costs about $400. 𝕋𝕙𝕒𝕟𝕜 𝕐𝕠𝕦 𝕗𝕠𝕣 𝕨𝕒𝕥𝕔𝕙𝕚𝕟𝕘 and contributing to the conversation! =𝓒𝓸𝓼𝓶𝓸 ✅
For your next bike light you should get one with a rechargeable battery. If you run out of juice you can charge it in any outlet without lugging around AAA batteries.
Thanks! I use replaceable batteries on all my bicycles because I ride distance and USB is not available on the road.I would be riding home in the dark! I can swap out replaceable batteries with fresh ones. This is also true when bicycle camping a touring. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-E_LMFakfJjQ.html 𝕋𝕙𝕒𝕟𝕜 𝕐𝕠𝕦 𝕗𝕠𝕣 𝕨𝕒𝕥𝕔𝕙𝕚𝕟𝕘! ✅ Check my other videos ru-vid.comvideos SUBSCRIBE ru-vid.com =𝓒𝓸𝓼𝓶𝓸 ✅
Thank You. I love your mini food videos. ru-vid.com/show-UC2reIMaPvdKxn6gbgq2u0Uwvideos I will be watching your channel. Please feel free to post more comments. =Cosmo
I love to ride. I have 1500 miles for the season. Most of that is on a road bike. I incorporated some chores with the bike using a backpack and panniers. I can carry a lot. Parking is easy, its good for me, its free and its fun. I'm going mountain biking tomorrow night testing a 400 lumen headlight on trails. This should blow away the bike headlights I had years ago. Makes any other activity I could do at home look pale. Enjoy the folder, they are great and have an eccentric appeal. =Cosmo
Hi Cosmo I also noticed you haven't posted any videos in awhile given the time of year seems unusual sure hope everything is ok .will be watching out for your next video ,take care and safe travels as always.
Great video, and information I don't have a lot of money, but I really need to get a folding bicycle, what do you think of the giant Expressway, and the Zizzo Liberty if possible can you please do a comparison between the two bikes I just discovered your videos really like them a new subscriber thank you so much for your hard work.
Hi Steve. I dont own the liberty or Expressway. I like the Liberty. I ride a lot and I think the Liberty is light enough to enjoy. I looks for components that are compatible with a standard bicycle for easy replacement. The liberty seems to have standard components. I have ridden my folding bicycle about 10,000 miles (8 miles a day to work for years). I worse out the cheap wheels that came with it and replaced with Shiman hubs and better rims. I replaced the plastic pedals with mtn bike pedals. I replaced the saddle and shifters too over those many miles. My folder weighs about 35 pounds (40 with the spare tubes, pump and tools + the bike bag). If I was to replace that bicycle today I would go with the Liberty. Much depends on what type of riding you do. The folder is a great urban or run around bicycle. I have ridden it up to 25 miles but I start to feel it above 15 miles and start wishing I had the road bike above 20 miles. Thanks for watching and subscribing. Regard =Cosmo
Just curious as to whether your rack plate cost more than your folder? Nice video. You seem like a swell, peaceful fellow. All the best to you on your travels.
I have a stable of folders. Three Bromptons, two Bickertons, a single and a tandem Bike Friday and few more. I am very impressed that you have put thousands of miles on your Downtube. I do think you deserve a Brompton.
Thanks I live 4 miles from work and commuted on the folder. Was great exercise and good tonic for a stressful job! I commuted on the down tube for 13 years and racked up a lot of miles. I Still use the Downtube but the titanium road bike is getting more exercise now that I stopped working. I have the ideal bicycle situation now (for me) which is 3 bicycles. Road, mountain and folding. I simply love bicycling. Every time I use it I smile because I love it, its good for me and I am cooling the planet. Thanks Liz. The roof rack mount cost about $150 to $200. The car came with the cross members so I needed to only buy the tray the bike sits on. The mount system can be moved to my next car too. The Brompton is top of the line. I love them but its difficult for me to justify one at this point. I expect to ride 2000 miles this summer and most of it will be on the road bike. I am exercising the folding bike with runs to the store and short hops. My longest ride on the Downtube was 22 miles. I can do it but the DT weighs in at about 40 pounds. Its an anvil (but a useful one). 𝕋𝕙𝕒𝕟𝕜 𝕐𝕠𝕦 𝕗𝕠𝕣 𝕨𝕒𝕥𝕔𝕙𝕚𝕟𝕘! ✅ Check my other videos ru-vid.comvideos SUBSCRIBE ru-vid.com =𝓒𝓸𝓼𝓶𝓸 ✅
Thanks Greg. Brompons are definitely at the top of the list and their support is outstanding. Any opinion on zizzo.bike/ folders? One model weighs in at 23 pounds. Its not the Brompton quality but it looks pretty cost effective. 𝕋𝕙𝕒𝕟𝕜 𝕐𝕠𝕦 𝕗𝕠𝕣 𝕨𝕒𝕥𝕔𝕙𝕚𝕟𝕘 and contributing to the conversation! =𝓒𝓸𝓼𝓶𝓸 ✅
Hey Kris. Thanks for checking in. All is well. I am working on a project right now. Will be back in action soon. Hope your summer is going well. Send me a photo Kris! You know a lot more about me than I about you. Regards =Cosmo
You need the Y connector for those panels. Yes I can charge the 1500 with 2 Dokio panels and they work great. Contact Jackery for the connectors you need 𝕋𝕙𝕒𝕟𝕜 𝕐𝕠𝕦 𝕗𝕠𝕣 𝕨𝕒𝕥𝕔𝕙𝕚𝕟𝕘! ✅ Check my other videos ru-vid.comvideos SUBSCRIBE ru-vid.com =𝓒𝓸𝓼𝓶𝓸 ✅
That's great! Now I know how you keep in shape. When I was camping at Cherry Creek State Park outside of Denver, there were so many people around my age riding electric bikes in the park. I probably would have to have that kind since my right knee has seen better days.
Ya there is a bicycle for everyone! I agree electrics are very popular and a great addition to an RV. A lot of van-lifers love them as a second vehicle. Bicycling is often recommended for knee problems. BUT do keep your pedal RPMs above 60 and do not use high gears that require lots of pressure. Stick with the low gears and spin! Thanks Marcia! =Cosmo
Hello fellow Downtube owner. Great! I saw them on Ebay and called them. They were a few hours from me (in 2005) so I drove to the store a friend and I cut a deal for cash! I ride a lot and swapped out some parts and its a good bike but a bit on the heavy side. I should have included boat owners in the video! Nice ride! Is there a strap or anything that keeps it from flopping around while it’s folded? Do you carry it like a suitcase when transporting? Looks pretty neat!
Thanks I have a bungee for that! Fun to fly around on the bicycle while camping. My favorite is to go out to dinner on bicycle and come back with headlights in the dark. LOTS-O-FUN! =Cosmo
