Cheers Sid! The search for "delicacies of England" has turned up some great tasty snacks! Dunns river Jamaican hot sauce from Tesco is delicious, and of course you cant go past the scotch egg 2 pack for a quick snack!!!

Maybe you could go over how you bath, restroom use, how you keep your clothes clean, just for your ideas on these very important subjects. Another great video. Thanks. 😁

Great series, I started watching through France and into the UK, I must go back to some of your older stuff! It must be a nice record for you to look back through as well. Id like to see some tips on how you tie your gear on the bikes (with inner tube rubber?) sometime. Maybe it's really simple, but it must be a bit different to using cord, and it seems very effective.
@hobocyclist
@hobocyclist 2 года назад
Cheers Pirate! Yes I’ve had a few comments about the bikepacking, it’s quite easy really just cut strips of tyre rubber and tie on your gear! You can see a time lapse on one of my shorts. I should feature the process in future. Thanks for watching the channel and joining the adventure!! 👍🚲🚲⛺️🍺😎🌴

Could be wrong, I’ll have to check, but I have never heard of Lime disease from deer ticks in England, and I spent a few years at school in the Sussex countryside in forests. I first heard about it in New York, so was surprised you came across it in the Netherlands and Belgium. My folks live in Southern France, and I’ve not heard of it there either. Don’t take my unawareness as a sign it’s safe, I’ll now have to check.

Top tip on British food. If you want a decent pasty, sausage roll pork pie or scotch egg. Go to a good old fashioned (expensive) village butcher or baker. No good pastry product ever comes out of a plastic rapper. loving your films of your UK cycling trip. I've done a fair bit of Hobo Cycling myself over the years.

Good on you mate! Yeah id love to visit all these little places where things are handcrafted but unfortunately the budget wont always allow it. Tesco, Sainsbury, picnic in a park -Wetherspoons occasionally -these are also authentic English experiences for us!! ;)

I've been watching your vids since you kicked off Andi and it always make me wonder how you pair always seem to be able to find yourselves it bit of scrub somewhere to bush camp in and not have someone come and kick you out. Yet when we look at the Pommie push bike camping videos they're always whinging that there's no where to camp without having some watchman ready to give them the boot or that most everywhere is illegal. It seems us Aussies and Kiwis, probably due to our remote upbringing, have a good eye where to find these undisturbed places in most countries and for us included some of the densely populated areas of Singapore, as there always seems to be some place to camp unseen after dark, even in a public garden. It could also be our inbuilt survival attitude of not giving a stuff about laws that everywhere is legal till your caught. Enjoy all your vids mate, they give a real fair dinkum view of the joys of push bike touring and camping. Your a lucky bloke Andi you've got Mel to keep an eye on you. Keep up the good work mate.👍👍👍👍
@hobocyclist
@hobocyclist Год назад
Thanks Col! appreciate the comments. I have been doing this a while and with the camping I find that the best way to not being told to move is to not be seen. Finding a spot to stealth camp can be a bit harder depending on where i am but mostly not so bad. I have been woken up once by a security guard shining a torch in my face oin the mountains of Kanagawa, Japan, but he got more of a fright than me at seeing a foreigner! cheers for watching the videos and hopefully you can pick up a few tips for your own adventures!

It’s good food to eat with all the riding that’s for sure! Cold beer and hot food is a must when sleeping outside, and hot coffee in the morning. Food is a big deal on the road. I love the whole process of getting out the gas burner and pan, sitting down taking a break in some nice spot 👍🌴🚲🚲⛺️

Where I grew up wildlife feeders got checked out by animals regularly even if no feed had been put in them in almost a year. I imagine you had a busy campsite that night.
@hobocyclist
@hobocyclist 2 года назад
Yeah that feeder was completely empty. I know better than to camp where there is a lot of animal activity, but that area was the only flat spot around and we were so tired! Good thing was no one came shooting early in the morning, at least not where we were!

Entertaining vid. Along with other qu's below, did you largely live on cold food? I've wondered if it can be done, as it saves the cooking equipment weight and messing about. (But hot food much nicer! :)
@hobocyclist
@hobocyclist 2 года назад
Hi Ray! Most of the time we try to cook a hot meal on the small gas burner that I carry with us. The big issue is weight so when we have the chance buying canned food to heat up is quite a luxury. Europe has a much better range of heat and eat canned food than England. We often eat pre made cold snacks from the supermarket and also make a lot of sandwiches. The food we eat changes in each country depending on what is available. Its always a good idea to eat what the locals eat since its nearly always cheapest! - ps real coffee brewed on the gas stove is non negotiable :)
@rolandberendonck3900
@rolandberendonck3900 2 года назад
Maybe you can buy and bring a wildlife camera. You can install it around the camp when you sleep and add pictures in your movie of the nights when all the deer, pigs and what else are walking around your tent. Sounds like fun to me anyway.
@hobocyclist
@hobocyclist 2 года назад
Cool idea! Im maxed out when it comes to gear most of the time. If i make enough to buy a camera it will be an upgrade from the phone i use to film these videos first!!

@@hobocyclist By the way, the quality of your videomaterial is good and good enough. Keep in mind that it should all be a little bit hobo quality which is the signature of your channel. The short snippets of the simple but very nice music clips is also very good. You're doing an excellent job and for us viewers it is al about the atmosphere and the adventure, the hobo food and foreign food experiences, your joy of having a good meal or a drink, your impressions, wild camping and all the things and adventures that you encounter.

the basic cost of this type of travel is 20 euro a day (for 2 ppl) or less, mostly just food costs (it was 5-10 eur a day in 2016 when i did my first trip. Im from NZ where everything is 2x the price of eu/uk so its actually much cheaper than staying at home

I've got to say that bikepacking in England sure beats bikepacking in some parts of the U.S. where you may have to contend with bears and mountain lions -- those are not what great nights of sleep are made of! LOL!
@hobocyclist
@hobocyclist Год назад
It would be amazing to see a bear or mountain lion! They would mostly be in the very wild areas like Alaska right? Ive been to USA but I didnt travel all over. I really enjoyed the national park campsites. Its cool they let you have a fire!

@@hobocyclist Bears have come down the mountain and have strolled through nearby neighborhoods, rummaging through trash cans, and cooling off in people's swimming pools. I have had 2 close encounters with mountain lions during my mountain bike rides just a mile up the trail from the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California, at the foot of the San Gabriel Mountains. There are also rattlesnakes up there, and coyotes have made their way down into our neighborhood and have attacked pets, even while on owners' leashes. But, yes, there are some bear warnings at the Grand Canyon. Fortunately, we didn't have any encounters with them. Interestingly, when we camped at Sequoia National Forest, bears were out during the day foraging while people were hiking a few hundred feet away. Check this video out. This bear encounter occurred just a couple of miles away from where I live: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QuqrZ4Ku2lg.html

@@FlowJunkie65 wow thats crazy! She really fought the bear with her bare hands! California has such a nice climate its no wonder all these animals live there. I love being outdoors with all the wildlife when im traveling & camping out. Here in NZ there are no snakes, bears, wolves etc. We do have deer, goats, possums & many kinds of birds in our forests though. I have camped out in a few countries where ive spotted animals i never knew lived there. Deer & foxes are a common sight in the forests of Europe. The weirdest one is an animal called a Tanuki that appeared outside my tent in the mountains of Japan, very similar to the raccoons i encountered in California.
