@@ratreptile that's true. However rock cannot remain sedimentary rock under those conditions. The extreme pressures required to bend already lithified rock without fracturing it also cause the the rock to metamorphosis. If the Bent layer is still purely sedimentary then it is not extreme pressures that can be the cause.
