What a lovely, enriching interview. My father could rub away warts and his father was a water witcher, his mother had "the sight" so I am fascinated by all you talked about. Thank you for my introduction to Rebecca! I'm headed to buy her books!

I am definitely purchasing this book I've definitely been a witch at heart always kind of knew how to do certain things without knowing what they do. Always played around make potions, salves, concoctions. Always learning a bout plant ect. Now I'm a reiki master and reflexologist now going back to school to become a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner, and now delving it to my journey into witchcraft I've started by learning Icelandic sorcery now i want to expand my craft by learning about magical herbs ect.

Great interview.Im in the process of reading Wild Witchcraft and love it so far.I think on the foraging topic we all could when we start to understand what we like and grow our own plants.We could grow for ourselves and trade with others.Just my thoughts on that.

Thank you for this interview, I've been looking for foragering/gardening info that pertains to the area I live in. Everything seems to be based out of PNW&New England city folk. Finally Appalachian herbalists are getting some attention.

Such an informative and relaxed interview. I am one of those practitioners that lives in an urban setting where all the parks are sprayed and woods aren't readily accessible. I've always been a bit hard on myself because I do most of my foraging in the grocery store. 😂 This doesn't impede me from communing with the plant and tree life that grow naturally in our backyard. Loved this video!!

So awesome! I have been trying to study Herbalism but not many teachers near me that I have found (I don’t think online would be the same unfortunately). That’s cool VT is where I’m from! Have you ever checked out Sali Crow? She is what helped me step onto my path.

We learn from the past present and future. Practicing what we learn is how culture evolves. The current judgemental attitude towards cultural appropriation is damaging and hinges on guilt and shame. Be proud of your traditions new and old and don't obsess about how others view you. Regarding foraging be respectful of Nature and don't be greedy. If there is only one example of something growing it's a bad idea to pick it.
@TheWildForestWitchery

This doesn’t come through as education. To each their own. I do love be proud of your traditions though.

It’s so unfortunate that 90% of the witchy content on RU-vid is all from the same worldview & perspective. It’s oddly not surprising & yet somewhat surprising all at the same time. I guess if you have that worldview it’s good for you if ya don’t it can be very frustrating.
@keekeejenkins6162

I'm a little dense, what worldview? I think I know what you mean but I don't want to assume. Could make for a nice discussion.

I live in The Cotswolds England… and its unfortunate that there are so many misconceptions regarding cultural appropriation… i use white sage that grows freely and beautifully here on my own land and it’s something my ancestors did for ages. Using smoke to cleanse is another practice that is shrouded in misconception… it seems as though it only becomes a source of conflict when it comes to socially appropriating indigenous peoples or minorities. Otherwise its fine to take European practices and use them outside of their original purpose and out of context. The social appropriation of European folk practices seems to always be looked over… and we are often accused ourselves of appropriating other cultures. I don’t believe its fair to perpetuate the idea that only indigenous practices and peoples or minorities can be appropriated.

Everyone wants to be seen and heard. Everyone and every culture should have their chance to be seen and respected. Respect is always the way. I hear you certainly and appreciate you sharing this point.
@Lily_Grey
@Lily_Grey Год назад
@@TheWildForestWitchery I absolutely agree…. It certainly is unfortunate that the concept of respecting each other and embracing our differences is such a source of conflict. Of course we all see things from our own perspectives, and unfortunately some perspectives are valued more than others. We so often dismiss the personal experiences of others in an attempt to invalidate them. However, ethnicity and social class do not make anyones experiences less important. I want for everyone, what I wish for myself….understanding, empathy, and respect. I believe it’s more that experiences are subjective, regardless of culture, ethnicity, spiritual or religious ideologies, et cetera. At the end of the day, we are all human beings bleeding red. Its imperative we stop perpetuating this divisive agenda and appreciate not the things that divided us in the past but the things that can bring us together in the future. I suppose there is some truth in the saying “two wrongs do not make a right”…. Suddenly it’s become very apparent that I should take my own advice. Thank you for such a lovely conversation…and I appreciate your time. Sending love and warm blessings💜✨
