taylor swift recently released her 8th studio album ‘folklore’ - her best written album by miles. let’s talk about it.... instagram: imthehonestboy twitter: imthehonestboy business inquires: muyhonest@gmail.com
I really like how Taylor didn't put the August girl in the bad light. Instead, she described the girl as someone who's just desperate to love someone who loves someone else.
u n k n o w n I think Taylor was really careful about it and I think it shows the feminism she preaches. She literally showed us that all girl’s have crowns and we don’t need to have to girls pit against each other, just because someone decided to play with their feelings.
@@justarandomwithfivecolorsi5048 definitely a huge glow up on her part specially if we look back to better than revenge (which imo is still a great song but the real story behind it is something that even taylor doesn't support now)
@@unknown-qg9jg Girl, I literally just made the realization that better than revenge has such a bad meaning behind it, i don't know how i turned a bound eye on it, I literally listened to the entire speak now album yesterday
Something about taylor swift that even after being one of the most successful music artists of all time, she is relatable. Her presence is very approchable type. Listening to her music is like listening to a friend.
god i remember when it was a trend to hate Taylor Swift. whenever I asked my friends why they hated her so much they never ever had a real answer. It pissed me off so much and everyone always made fun of me for loving her music. whatever they can fight me.
IKR. I got pushed out of groups and bullied for my choice of music during high school. I was made to believe my musical taste was awful when the problem was them all along
Arliiin that sucks so much and I really get that. I still to this day like artists that people hate for no reason :( the funny thing is in my case those people would tell me I was basic or mainstream for liking popular artists, but then they’d turn around and CHOOSE to hate popular artists BECAUSE they were popular? Its so-so fake and it’s mainstream to hate the mainstream JUST because it’s mainstream... ?it’s so stupid. just like whatever the hell you like and get over it?? and though it isn’t easy liking artists like these, at least we like who we like and stay true to who we are.
The fact that Taylor Swift has never objectively put out a bad album, the fact that most people can name at least 6 of her songs even if they’re her biggest hater, the fact that she STILL dominates the charts every time she releases anything, the fact that her longevity speaks volumes as she exists within an industry that loves one hit wonders is what makes me really grateful to have stanned her. Despite people's constant attempts to break her she comes back swinging with something that nobody can deny her- actual raw talent. She is a lyricist at heart and boy was this album a showcase of those incredible skills.
Yesss I totally agree. I’ve love Taylor for years, but everyone seems to have a problem with her or with me liking her. They don’t have to like her, but I would appreciate if people would recognize how talented she is, at least.
Lu Med she’s done worldwide tours if I’m not mistaken. I know she definitely did for her 1989 and Reputation tours. I wanna say for Red, too, correct me if I’m wrong. But she’s had worldwide tours.
@@myajanette sadly never truly worldwide like other similar artists. She's never toured South America except for a small event in Brazil once and she also doesn't tour Asia completely :/ She's also never gone to Mexico.
It’s not just talent but hard work. I think people appreciate it more when they’re given credit for their hard work and not just because they’re born talented :)
My biggest flex is that I never hated on Taylor even when it was a trend. Like lowkey she’s a really hardworking and nice person who climbed to the top because of her own talents. She’s queen period.
Same, I remember back in 2018 I had a high school sociology class where one girl was just like, "I hate Taylor Swift" out of nowhere and I asked her simply why. And she just repeated it and shrugged. So odd.
@@livefoursims1839 I can answer that. Black men are expected to only listen to hip hop and maybe R&B male artists. If not you're considered weird, which is absolutely bullshit to me. I listen to what tf I want to
@@livefoursims1839 I love what you said!! Big up bro❤I'm the same, a huge pop and R&B lover since when I was younger and I started listening to more hip hop a couple of years ago maybe. Thanks for your message!
for a pop star of her status... especially considering the massive success of her previous 3 albums.. she took a risky yet necessary route in her career. changed into a different genre. dropped it as a surprise album. it was risky, but it all paid off. cardigan debuted at #1 on the charts and the album itself is still sitting without competition in its 4th week at #1.
I hate it when people call Taylor Swift overrated. She's not. She's is self made and deserves every bit of her success. I still ponder, how Taylor has risen to be the one of the biggest stars without indulging in nudity, sex scams and drugs. The best thing about her art, is how deeply and personally we'll can relate to very piece of it. In this era, where Katy Perry and Justin Bieber are struggling to fit in, Taylor still holds immense relevance today. This lady is a jewel, rarest gem and a true craftsman. 'Folklore' is an escapism of the reality, for a while. It brings in an ensuing peace in your mundane schedule.
Ryan Herd I disagree. I believe you can appreciate someone’s artistry, their music, but not be a fan of them as a person. Or you may not actively follow them or consistently stay up to date with their work, but you can still appreciate what you do hear. An example I would give is AC/DC. Personally, I’m not a fan of AC/DC. I haven’t listened to all of their albums, or know much about them as a group, but I do have a few favorite songs by them and can’t deny that they are an incredible band. An additional example would be Melanie Martinez. I don’t like her as a person, and I don’t listen to her music often. But I can appreciate how unique she is as an artist and do like a few of her songs.
Yeah this is so true. Taylor has never ever had a scandal or anything bad come out about her. The girl literally has no skeletons in her closet and doesn’t do anything to bother anyone. Kinda sad that she was so hated on for no reason tbh seeing as our of most celebrities she doesn’t have any controversies that consist of anything really important like racism, selling their souls, drugs or alcohol addictions etc that a lot of others do.
@@haleyzuniga6394 I think that's a weird way to consume and enjoy art. The people making music have no duty to be "likable" for them to be a great artist. These artists aren't reality stars whose main product is themselves. They are creating music to be enjoyed. If you enjoy the music, then by all reasonable accounts you are a fan of the one thing they set out to share and be judged. It just seems silly to be overly concerned with whether you think a person you've never met before is a good person or not. Do you like the music or not? That's what they are all about.
While every other celeb are busy having mental breakdowns, and cancelling themseleves Taylor has proven to be one of the few good celebs that actually did something productive and amazing for her career. She really used quarantine to her advantage, rather than let it ruin her. Oh i love art
I used to hate Taylor Swift back in the day when it was considered “cool” and “trendy” to do so, but never had a reason to other than internalized misogyny. Listening to folklore and watching her film “Miss Americana” truly changed my perspective on her. I see she is a mature young woman who is making positive changes in her life, and I have nothing but respect for her as an artist and as a person! This album is absolutely beautiful and one of my favorite pieces to have been released during quarantine thus far! Mirrorball, Seven, August and Epiphany have to be my absolute favorite tracks off this album!!
@Dark AnthemTV you are so pathetic....... desperately longing for people to hate Taylor.....but guess what... hating on Taylor doesn't make any sense anymore..... especially after the full phone call leaked.... We can find many sites ..many channels that spread white lies about Taylor...and we as fans have gotten used to never believing anything any hater or media say or write about her......the joke is one you that you even tried to turn us against her......
the album is partially autobiographical. ‘invisible string’ is definitely about her and joe alwyn. ‘my tears ricochet’ may sound like a song about a bad breakup but it’s def about her and her previous label.
There is subtext throughout the album (especially in songs like "this is me trying," "my tears ricochet," "mad woman," and "hoax" that are partially autobiographical, especially if you've followed Taylor Swift throughout the years.
@@fadhiladinugraha And Dolly and Shania especially had to look at artists before them like Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn and John Denver. Everything is learned in music, not inherited.
@@aaliyahfoster2705 of course, that's why I said nothing is original. I'm not attacking Taylor at all, but just trying to clear up a misunderstanding that usually happens on fans who really idolatize their idol so much and think that their idol are original and totally different from other artists.
What is original with Taylor is that his music is special, never sounds like modern music, and that's why a lot of people don't like his music, I think. Each Taylor's album has its own story and I don't think any other artists does it because they need to be like the others. Taylor is also an artist who make different genre of music and always broke records. I think it's a really rare talent. Only original and special person can break all records and go down in history, and this artist is Taylor Swift. Anyway, everyone have their opinion.
@@JamesKovacic that's not a visual album. Take for example Beyoncé's Self-titled, Lemonade, & Black Is King (especially this one). The album has a strong narrative that someone can pen a movie out of it.
@@JamesKovacic yeah. Though he's controversial, Todrick Hall could help her since he has 2 visual albums. They are also very close friends and he'd understand her vision.
I've been listening Taylor for 10 years. I was a literal kid and she was a young woman, now i am a young woman and she's a mature woman. So many things changed, but her growth as a an artist is neverending, so i remain a fan. Thank you Taylor 🤗
I relate to this so much i remember my parents would tease me a bit with the music i listened to (1d for example) but my dad always loved listening to taylor with me and i realized there was something that ser her apart from other stars
@@denzellucas609 well yeah she's been able to move seamlessly between different styles, and still be ,at the very least, positively viewed by most music critics.
@@denzellucas609 go away! I know you're a hater and keep trashtalking old-school hate. Taylor's hater always say that Taylor can't sing. Stfu! She is not a vocalist. She is an artist. Just praise and idolize your 5-octave-vocal range puppet!! Leave!!
Can we talk about how long she has been relevant! She is constantly changing styles to stay on top and she never does he same thing twice. I really don't think there is many other artists who can pull that off.
She's the only artist who has kept separating herself from the rest of the pack, both when she was in country music and pop. She was compared to Carrie, Miranda, and Sara Evans starting out. She was then grouped into the acoustic/pop-rock girlies of the 2000s of Colbie Caillat, Natasha Bedingfield, and Kelly Clarkson. She then found home with the 2010s pop girlies of Gaga, Katy, Meghan, Rihanna, and Kesha. And now she's leveled up to be compared to the late 2010-comers Ariana and Dua Lipa and into the 2020s in a new territory that only Madonna had stepped into previously.
I hope she gets the respect she deserves, cause there are still a lot of people who don’t understand why she’s famous and has got so many awards, she’s definetely still underappreciated
Amatullah Muhammad If you are going to pretend to not see the negative implication (or maybe you're just too stupid to catch it), then i'm not going to converse with you.
@@nveletkoslin33771 I'm not racist, I'm just telling the truth. She is a representative of white teenage girls in the US, most of her fanbase consists of them. Also Grammy favor her so much. We all know Grammy love to snub people of color, instead they will give the thropies to the same white artists, again and again.
Her weakest non-break through album sold 5M + in US alone. Let that sinks in. And as a whole the debut album is the weakest but it was so endearing and it’s still one of my fav. “Tim McGraw” her debut single is still my favourite song from her
Debut is frequently overlooked. Teardrops On My Guitar was the "bad guy" (Billie Eilish) of the late 2000s. It charted for so long and re-entered the chart that it became her first pop crossover hit before Love Story and it brought the success of her high school talent show song Our Song, Picture to Burn, and Should've Said No to cap the cycle. She was competing against the American Idol success of Carrie Underwood at the time.
Callum Sinclair to be fair her debut album was just very very impressive especially when it’s set within the country genre. To be able to achieve this sort of stats in the overall chart is quite crazy and she was 16
yep, great album. my favorite song is mirrorball. i never heard a song written this accurately about shapeshifting yourself to please others (i need some therapy lol)
Taylor's voice is like home to me. I don't know how is that possible. Like she doesn't even know that I exist but everytime I am down, or just wanna listen to any song..my go-to person is Taylor. Swiftie for life.
I read an article where it said Adele doesn't know when she's releasing her next album. It could be this year, could be next. With J. Cole dropping all these songs, I'm expecting him to release a new project this year. I'm not sure about Kendrick
It’s because she hit it big on a small label, writes her own material and learned her lesson about owning her own masters. Most artists are at the mercy of their label because they don’t really own their work.
If i were her label, I would let her do what the fk she wanted to, since whatever she does, if not inder bondage and with her own creativity, would be a masterpiece
I don’t understand how she got UMG to agree to everything. She owns her masters, they dont make that much off her tours, and she made them give EVERY artist a bigger spotify share. Her power
Although I liked some songs on Lover I didn't really connect with the album and was kinda scared it was the start of Taylor's decline... But then she goes and does Folklore, her best album yet for me
@@B2STLover501 I'm kind of scared for the next album cycle though since folklore has everything that people and Swifties wished for from every past era. TS9 is either gonna be a big disappointment for fans and people alike or a 1989-style of success.
@Aaliyah Foster OMG never thought of that yet ....now im scared of TS9- but bet she wouldn't go with it until the re-recording of her last 5 albums is done, right?
In my opinion : Reputation is her best album production wise Folklore is her best album in terms of songwriting and lyrics. Edit : Wow , didn't expected that much likes. Thank you guys ❤️
@C C 1989 is not my favorite but it was okay for me but the only favorite song on the album i have is Out of The Woods ( one of the best songs Taylor has ever released , but underrated af)
I agree! People say it's a little outdated because it has hints of dubstep in some tracks. I don't mind it at all. The overall 'dark' vibes remind me of Blackout by Britney and even The Fame Monster by Lady Gaga. It does have a lot of fillers unfortunately, could've easily been cut down to 11 or 10 tracks, but I definitely love the rep era overall.
Which award do you want it to win? There are multiple better candidates to win AOTY (After Hours, Alfredo) and it can't win best pop album because it isn't pop. I'm just curious which Grammy you think the album should win.
Rayford Reed the genre of the album is (mostly) chamber pop. dont know what genre you put this in? Apple music says it’s "Alternative" folklore is simply the name & concept
it’s undeniable that she is the pop star of our generation, managing to stay relevant for the past 15 years of her career. she’s also one of the few artists who is still able to sell albums instead of just streams
Both her and Metallica are the only ones who are still relevant after so long to sell albums. Adam Levine is also one of those few, but his creative artistry has become very debatable.
I feel like peace was the one song that was really about her life, like it’s her vulnerability with Joe and who she is in the public eye and what she can offer him...
Finally someone who is talking about this song, I love this song so much, the lyrics are so personal and her voice just hits hard. It's definitely in my top 5.
and the last great american dynasty , my tears ricochet, mirrorball, this is me trying, invisible string, mad woman, epiphany, the lakes, maybe seven ,
Алиса Матеева I think there are bits of some of the songs that are about her life and then there are some songs that are entirely about her life. I think invisible string is one of them.
While most celebs are stuck having mental breakdowns, and busy cancelling themseleves, Taylor has proven herself to be one of the few good celebs that actually did something productive and amazing for her career. She really used quarantine to her advantage, rather than let it ruin her.
@@greenergrass4060 hey don't shame those celebs who go through mental breakdowns, you don't know what they're going through. Not everyone is as strong as they should be, and everybody responds to struggles and trauma differently. No need to pit shame.
one interpretation of this album is that it’s a metaphor about losing her masters, so even though the stories are made up the loss and grief feels so real
THE MASTER OF SPIN HAS A COUPLE SIDE FLINGS GOOD WIVES ALWAYS KNOW SHE SHOULD BE MAD SHOULD BE SCATHING LIKE ME BUT NO ONE LIKES A MAD WOMAN i love those lines sm hahah
her best track 5. i can’t believe she wrote that masterpiece alone. everything about it is epic. the lyrics, the agony in her voice in “you hear my stolen lullaby” and it echoes and suddenly goes calm again representing “and so the battleships will sink beneath the waves” and it’s just epic in a way i can’t explain. truly genius. EVERY line and lyric in that song is amazing. i start crying and i break down every time she says “cuz when id fight you used to tell me i was brave”
Taylor has been my favourite female artist since I first heard Love Story back when I was 14 years old in 2009, and I think she always will be. Because her music and lyricism is just so beautiful and mesmerising.
"This is me Trying" is one of my favorite songs, EVER, I seriously adore Folklore and it's-to me, her most honest (Ironically since none of those songs are actually about her), loving, and wonderfully written music ever. Folklore has been my companion throughout quarantine and my worst depression spell ever. I will defend it till I die.
She claps back at her critics, she reacts but most importantly Taylor Swift actually takes constructive criticism. They thought she could only write about personal experiences but now she's proven that she can write from multiple perspectives, she can write fantastic imaginary scenarios and come up with excellent plots. She's evolved as a songwriter. She might deal with similar themes but they're approached differently now. Her older songs were more or less literal now her songs are more metaphorical and replete with symbolism and figurative language. She deserves the attention she gets as a songwriter.
i feel like people take her for granted sometimes. im pretty sure, she's THAT one artist we could experience once in our life time, there will be no one like her for a long long time.
The woman is gifted. Gifted. And she deserves all the success and all the praise. Folklore is a masterpiece, and I thought lover was a masterpiece in pop writing but folklore was so unexpected, so brilliant. Some of those songs are just breath takingly beautiful. Brought tears to my eyes in many of those songs. She's wonderful.
Probably because it's not their style. It's really country even more than Fearless. It takes someone who can casually listen to Maddie & Tae or Luke Combs to really appreciate the style.
Me but I personally think she has beautiful tone and vocal color..it s very unique and it made up for her mediocre vocal which she trained for 12 years now to make it sound better n better..i always give her props for trying and always wanting to improve,,..everytime she came out w a new album her vocal is better n better... i cant say the same about other who dont have the best vocal and DONT wanna improve
Idk but I realised that each and every taylor swift album has held so many memories in my life. Maybe years from now, we will tell our generation how much of a wonderful artist she is
Personally I don't enjoy it haha although I love Taylor... some of the songs are good (idsb, getaway car, dress) but overall I don't think it is a true representation of her talents
No amount of respect for Taylor Swift is enough and yet the gp don't respect her at all. Truly a shame that'll come to light when she is remembered in a few decades.
Thank you honest for continuing to shine a light on the artistry that is Taylor Swift. At her core, she isn’t a “hit”-maker or a superstar, she’s a storyteller. pass down her folklore.
folklore is incredibly well done. have you heard of her follow-up to it? the "sister album", as she calls it, called "evermore"? It is also a great album. you should give it a listen! :)
taylor swift really is amazing. im a hugeeee swiftie. folklore and evermore really tug on my heartstrings tho. exile and evermore made me c r y. literally c r y. she can write any genre and it still be amazing. her countrys amazing , her pop is amazing , her soft pop is amazing. all of it. amazing.
Taylor Swift is the music industry. She delivers for her fans in a personal, stripped down way, providing vivid scenery for all of her cohesive albums. For the rest of my life I will always lover (love her).
Never was really a big Taylor fan , but Reputation is one of my favorite and only full body of work I listened to and love on first listen . Taylor is an true artist and writes her heart out . Something most of these new pop artist doesn’t do today .
I believe that Folklore saved Taylor's career. Even if her previous records (Lover and Reputation) sold really well, people started to doubt her songwriting skills. Folklore showed her fans and the public that she has grown artistically.
Folklore was the first album I started listening to the lyrics carefully to hear a story behind it. I don't know if it was because I was getting more mature and into music, or the fact it is so well written you can hear a story without focusing too much on the lyrics. Before that, I just sang along, liked the melody. But in Folklore, I even pulled out the dictionary to understand the difficult vocabulary she used. There is a story for every song. Cardigan had so much It was like peter and Wendy and Tinkerbell. Peter was in love with Tinkerbell but chased both Wendy and Tinkerbell, but Tinkerbell was the one: " chase two girls, lose the one." And she is saying that after Peter lost interest in Wendy, he would go back to Tinkerbell: " I knew you'd miss me once the thrill expired. And you'd be standing in my front porch light. And I knew you'd come back to me"
Your opinions on tylor's music are always so similar to mine, even the favourite songs and it's same on all videos like legit Ditto sometimes it feels like someone is expressing my thoughts in words and it's so suprising but pleasantly comforting and nice to be able to relate..it's almost like jinx:)!0:
My theories: - Hoax is actually about Calvin cause when she was being torn apart by the media he also jumped on the hate train and she says: “You knew it still hurt underneath my scars when they pulled me apart but what you did was just as dark...” - Meaning that being backstabbed by someone you trusted so much is the same as what they were doing to her assasinating her character. - My tears ricochet is imho about Scott Borchetta and the long business relationship that also ended in betrayal. She says “I can go anywhere I want just not home (home being BMR), you can aim on my heart but you would still miss me in your bones” - She was their signature artist who in honesty WAS Big machine records. This entire section also reflects that: You had to kill me, but it killed you just the same, Cursing my name, Wishing I stayed, And you're tossing out blame Drunk on this pain Crossing out the good years. Mad woman would be another one about Borchetta in my eyes.
I think Mad Woman is about the wives of the men who bullied her. The lyric "It's obvious that wanting me dead has really brought you two together" kinda reflected how these wives defended and justified their husbands' actions, and labeling her as a crazy woman (gaslighting her). And the last lyrics "She should be mad, should be scathing like me but no one likes a mad woman" is indication too. Absolutely love her lyricsm 💯
no one can deny her talent. her music is so original and completely HER. she even plays instruments and folklore is everything she’s good at all in one. a perfect album imo. she just can’t make bad music !
reading all these positive comments about her makes me feel so happy because this woman deserves all the love in the world, specially after the way everyone treated her from 2013 to 2017. I'm just really glad people don't jump & join the hate train anymore. :)
yes this is her best album yet in my opinion and we really see her growth as an artist. edit : some of you can't read, i literally said IN MY OPINION. damn
zhimochie can we stop saying oH weLl ur a this u don’t have taste. ur a person sitting on the internet insulting someone for listening to kpop like ?? do something with ur life and honestly who cares if she thinks folklore is her best album
