Folkston 2001 

Wow, I feel like I can cry. I was born in 2004 but feel like I have a odd relation to this. I was really getting into railfanning in 2013 and started to gain a bunch of knowledge. I wish I could time travel back into these days and railfan for a week. Everyone before me got to see the glory days of CSX and many other railroads. People don't get how lucky they are to not see wide Cabs and gevos there whole life.

Came across this looking for news of the derailment. So cool to see Crick and Cookie again.

Who would've thought this would've become one of the most popular railroad towns in the world nearly 20 years later? Now, nearly 20 years have gone by since this was dedicated, and it's still the "Trainwatchers Paradise" for all to visit. -AZRails

Such an emotional video! People watching trains and train crews waving to the railfanners as they pass by. Is this what heaven will be, will look like?

And this is why I try to film every train I see. Because someday, these modern engines won’t be here just like most of the engines in this video

I passed through Folkston on Amtrak in 2000, 2003, and 2006. I finally went there to watch the trains in February 2021.

Great work Mr Harmon, I bought your DVD while I was in Folkston. A DVD that gave me great ideas for work of my own, truly 2 thumbs up.

The end of enjoy able and informative train spotting was just around the corner. This was before vandalism became a pewtrid artistic expression and a day when spotting frieght cars was as good as the engines that pulled them. 😔

Remember that day very well indeed! One of my favorite DistantSignal DVD's. But you know we need to do something special to mark the 10th anniversary of the platform. If nothing else, just a special gathering of rail fans to commemorate the day and give a salute to the man who made it all possible.

2011 that was not that long ago 2021 that’s not a long time ago….. this was filmed 20 years ago and that just is crazy

I will say though Folkston needs to have more places to stay and more places to eat because the only two places you can stay now that are directly in Folkston are the two cabooses the hotel we stayed in has been closed and I think demolished and there's not a lot of like restaurants to eat at with the exception of the cafe that's downtown hack my grandmother and I've been going to Cordele because there's mainly more places to stay in more places to eat and it's closer but I have wanted to come back to Folkston at least one last time because the videos I filmed there on my second trip were terrible in fact I deleted them off my channel because they were so badly filmed I'm glad you got a chance to see Folkston when CSX was still getting started

Except for Dennis, probably not too many of us could make it on the 4th. But I think the 6th is quite doable.

We have been to Folkston twice in the last 5 years. Great venue for viewing and mingling with other rail fans. My only disappointment is that the town itself offers very limited lodging and dining places. Seems like an untapped source of revenue that’s being ignored.
