Aren't we lucky to live in a time when dentistry is so advanced that this surgery can be done with a minimum of pain and risk of infection? What would someone with this problem do if they were born 200 years ago?
I had this procedure done 4 days ago, on BOTH sides of my jaw, I am 56 years old and Diabetic, I am recovering very good and today is the fourth day after surgery, swallowing is almost gone and I just have a bit of pain on the LH side jaw, but opposite to the first few days my pain is at 2-3 level instead of a full 10 level for the first 3 days...today I was able to avoid painkillers.... I was surprised that if unattended, the cyst can complicate the jaw by disolving the jaw's bone and turning into a tumor....I hope the pathology comes ok for both cyst removed from me...if I would have seen or know this before, I would have done it earlier. by the way, I was asymtomatic, no pain before the procedure at all , or bleeding or anything, yet on my RH side the totth and cycst was close to 1" in length..... Greetings from Canada !!!
Just had this surgery the other day and recovering. The jaw bone grows back and fills in the cavity hole. Any people getting this done, you'll be given pain pills during the healing process. Swelling will occurred.
Hi Janice, I am going to have this procedure done to me and I am really really happy with your comment that the jaw bone grows back and fills the cavity hole over time. I would just like to confirm it with you once more, it's been 4 years since your comment, has your jaw bone grown back?
I just went to a surgeon yesterday and it turns out I have to go through this exact same procedure. It is also on the same side. At least I know what to expect. Thanks for uploading this.
Just had the same surgery done 2days ago on my left side, recovering day by day without any pain killer, I’m just taking amoxicillin to make to cut down the risk of infection. Procedure was easier than expected. Watching this video would have you unnecessarily nervous. Swelling goes down in two days.
@@abhishekshirivas1095 I didn’t feel a thing as i was under anaesthesia. However, I had a difficult time till next 2-3 days. My mouth was full of stitches so I felt extreme pain even while talking.
Would even a small remnant of the cyst membrane cause complications later? In case of partial adherence, how can it be extracted? Thank you very much for sharing. Very informative.
I was thinking the same thing, but if you listen carefully in the beginning he says he is removing the molar as well. However that looked like a huge chunk of jaw bone to me, I would also like to know what they do with that huge cavity.
@@DR-br5gb the last part of my jaw on right of my mouth hurts like crud! It time for it to be out, it messing my gum there too! I kept telling my parents. Nothing happens.......
Sorry, I meant periosteal adherence of cyst membrane remnants during dissection. It would be quite a challenge to dissect cyst lining that may remain on the floor of the cavity since exploring using instruments can potentially damage the inferior alveolar nerve. Greatly appreciate the very informative videos. :)
Yikes ouch I had a little one then they had to extract one of my molars afterwords like they should’ve taken care of the first time around and go figure
I have 2 of these lower wisdom exactly same problem as in video but doc says my jaw might break during surgery because the cyst ate away most of my bones....its a major surgery costing $8,000 cash up front....no dental insurance. I'm actually in pain as I write this and watching this is making my teeth hurt more lol...😬
@@BenDover-td9hv It's been exactly 1 month last Friday was my last check up....finally feeling back to normal but the pain is gone. Prayers for anyone going through this everyone is different in how they recover but this was not an easy healing process for me.
