Judy is a queen. I wish they would post more construction/atelier vids. Primarily to give us a look at those mad MQ skills, but also so everyone can see and appreciate the labour that goes into all handmade garments; they might understand their value and think twice about buying disposable garbage. Wishful thinking, I know.

P Wallace OP wasn’t snooty in any way. She means fast fashion, plastic (polyester) clothes. It really is all disposable garbage that’s wrecking our planet. The textile trade is one of the top contributors to pollution worldwide. We all need to stop buying fast fashion immediately; it’s not a class thing, it’s a save the planet thing.

As a fashion design student I find this so beautifully encouraging in it's sheer simplicity. You don't need hypey gimmicks, expensive hardware or flashy fabrics to make something so beautifully astonishing. She just took the material and sculped away, she let the fabric speak for the garment in it's different characteristics and to me, that is where the work of true masters like her really shines.

I love how detailed the steps are in this video. I’m only 5 years into the craft and obviously have no where near these artists skill but it’s so inspiring to me that all these little steps that are pretty easy to learn but difficult to accomplish perfectly can go into creating something so intricate. It gives me hope that with enough continued practice, I could create something half as beautiful someday. Those skirt roses though... phew! Thats all trained eye and years of skill... just purely masterful.

I have a photo of Alexander in a fancy, Art Deco, sort of frame- my partner thought I was "off my head" - not at all. I come from a dysfunctional family, no siblings, any connections, lost long ago, and I lived for his next collection- I can't afford his exquisite clothing but I can celebrate what Alexander did, his relationship to clothing, art- I think I understand his imperative- It is fascinating to watch you- and the other day I was on another McQueen site and got an idea for two inexpensive pieces I bought thinking "if I put that on that and make this sort of..." Nothing I'd wear BUT somebody else would ( too short here!) The point is: two pieces which would end up in a thrift shop but more likely a landfill- I miss him though I never met him....Since he passed fashion, hasn't been anything I bother with much' jeans and tees- he really did look to the past, took the best silhouettes and to the future, new technology and made wearable ART. Do I like this dress?!?!?! Yes. Wish I was tall enough to wear it. It's exquisite and watching your dexterous fingers, wonderful....now I just need new shoes, honey...( "thrifty" partner who just doesn't get women and shoes....!) Namaste from A Forever Fan, from Canada
