As an unmarried woman I was pierced by the discussion of the 144,00 priesthood and' of course, inclusion of their wives. All your other episodes left me feeling so loved. I'll keep going and know my Savior loves me and will give me every good thing He can.

Please remember that if we are faithful nothing will be held back from us. It is covenants we make and keep that qualifies us to be part of God’s work and His blessings. I think what they’re saying here is that this isn’t only for men. Heavenly Father loves his daughters so much! He will not exclude His faithful daughters.

This series is a huge intellectual and spiritual feast. I also appreciate Stout’s articulate response. Feel very blessed by my virtual associations with critical and inspired thinkers.

“The more you know before you go, the more you share when you’re there” could also be applied to the advantage we gain in the next world as we feast, ponder and pray for a confirmation of all doctrines here and be equipped to preach in spirit prison. As Ephraimites we have a great responsibility in that endeavor. The mysteries of the kingdom need to be shelved until that day when all will be revealed. When we intellectualize over these things we are putting our spiritual growth on hold. The age of the earth and Book of Mormon geography etc will mean nothing if we fail to apply the principles of the gospel in everyday life. Our focus needs to be the condition of our hearts and how we are getting along with those around us. By and by we’ll know the truth of all things.

When you say you don’t want to speculate on who or what are the 2 witnesses in the book of revelations, bring up Elder Bruce R. McConkie. He didn’t hesitate or speculate at all. He said it would be one of the 12 apostles or a member of the first presidency of our church. A special witness on the earth today!!! You don’t have to speculate or guess at all in this world today who they are. I testified before and now, our Savior has witnesses here and now.

When touching on the "2 Witnesses" and Christ's decending onto Mt of Olives it would be beneficial to discuss the Feasts of Trumpets and Rosh Hashana and the Day that No Man Knows and the 2 witnesses of the new moon. Also, we know that the Passover was fulfilled completely by Jesus birth and death. Rosh Hashana will be completely fulfilled at Jesus' Second Coming.

Wasn’t section 76 called “the vision”? Why wasn’t this section left out also? Was John translated before he was exiled to Patmos?

43:37 reminds me strongly of President Nelson's talk from April 1988 on contention!

Could it be the reason we have no more high priests, quorums, only elders, quorums, and other similar changes from ward to stake and regional is these changes are due to the fact 144,000 are high priests? Our Heavenly Father wants to differentiate between the two? Just a thought!!!

The subject of how old this earth is, we know matter always existed. Christ created this earth with this matter, therefore when doing carbon dating on how old something is, it could be several million years old. But this earth is about 6 or 7 thousand years old, but made up with matter millions years old. Carbon dating could be correct when it reads million years old. Doesn’t mean the creation of this earth is that old. But yet it’s plausible the formation of this earth was or is about 7 thousand years.

So far, all of these have been wonderful. However, I was disappointed with this one. There is too much speculation and equivocation. There is not enough truthful, consistent information. Over and over again, they go off on a tangent, just to pull back and basically say, we'll none of this is important, the only important thing is.... then they say something that has little to do with the scripture they were just discussing. If it's not important then why was John commanded to write it? If attempting to understand it in real terms is not important, then why did God answer Joseph's questions regarding it? I have so many other frustrations with this, and with the way so many gospel educators equivocate in order to avoid simply saying, I don't know. The more of this type of reinterpretation that goes on the more people get confused about what should be plain and simple truths.

I majored in ancient history and worked with a man who had a Ph.D in apocalyptic literature and most of this section’s answers are just way off base with every bit of scholarship on the subject. For example, the 144000 refer to the whole of Israel (12x12x1000) and the beasts are taken from OT passages that represent power and intelligence. The sea of glass is symbolic of God’s power over the watery chaos of Genesis and the frightening seas of this earth which were reminders of that primeval chaos to the Hebrews who were not a seafaring people. This sea is, however, one that is motionless. God reigns over this sea as God reigned over the chaos and reigns over the present waves as well. I think the honest approach would be to admit that Joseph was limited in his revelatory abilities. In other words, he wasn’t inerrant. Also apocalyptic literature was quite common between 200 BC and 200 AD. In Revelation’s case, it’s a riff on the Exodus story with added symbolism drawn from John’s time. Once divorced from that historical context, it can, has, and is used to support any number of end time scenarios, all of which have a knack for eventually being shown to be mistaken. Better to focus on the overall theme of the Lamb’s triumph over evil and the hope and courage that gives. Thank you for doing this series.

@@rwmiller9062 Disagreeing with a program doesn’t mean one cannot appreciate the effort put forth in producing it or the intent behind it. I enjoy this series and simply felt that their take on this one section of the D&C left much to be desired. I thought it only proper to balance the critique with an expression of gratitude. By way of analogy, isn’t it possible to say less than complimentary things about a particular play your team makes yet still cheer for your team? I hope that clears things up a bit for you and that you have a great day and continue to explore the scriptures.

You can believe Joseph Smith, who was a prophet or this man who isn’t a prophet. I’ll pick Joseph Smith.
