I'm argentinian. Watching the woman at 24:50, this is the problem right here. The extreme levels of ignorance. She lives with 300% inflation and STILL would vote for the same people.
Do you think there is any hope that the broader population will ever understand what is happening and change their opinions? I believe there are signs that more countries in the world will become like Argentina. It would be wonderful if Argentina could provide a map of how to escape the situation.
24:55 tells you everything you need to know about why South America is the way it is. Without exception. Every single time. Good call about asking the question in a neutral way and letting her answer, Peter. Good job. Keep these videos coming.
Yep. I saw it all the time when my company was in the region. The mentality of certain people is fascinating, but somewhat understandable. They cannot (and do not want to) make simple links. Hoppe nailed it.
I live in Colombia. Latin America in general is very ripe for change, but in fundamental peaceful ways. The demographics are young and they have learned from watching the older generations that war is not the answer but that individual economic empowerment is the way forward. Dollar stablecoins are going to unify this hemisphere's economic structures and North and South Americans together will lead the way forward in leveraging dollars into Bitcoin. A Milei win in Argentina will be a tectonic shift for the hemisphere.
Complex nation, complex system, complex society’s. Nothing Is, White Nothing Is, Black, Welcome, To The middle ground. One thing you didn’t touch is how the oligarchy keeps the dollars from the exports and how this pressure exhanges rates. Well done documentary Peter. Thanks.
Yes the land owners and their predatory practices slipped by yet are fundamental to Argentina's history, politics, etc. Also what the US did to keep dictators in change and produce rolling into the US through much of the 20th century. Let's hope they can dig their way out of their addiction to hypocritical corrupt rulers of all stripes.
Very well-made documentary, please make some more. Here's an idea for your next film: How we the public know so little about money, how it works, and how it's used to manipulate us at all levels. You don't need to leave the UK for this one.
Excellent work Peter and Crew! Inflation may be invisible but it sure is felt. Having the drive to endure and live in the present day is what smart determined people will do. High inflation and world currencies in competetition with the US dollar are facing Billions of people around the world. Thanks for the update in Argentina.
Shows what a pipe dream a BRICS currency is when so many nations would be willing to dollarize just to address the core issues of their nations giving up the sovereignty and option of printing their own currency. But let's see more small nations put BTC in their treasuries.
Great content and film Peter! Plus, whoever did the filming, editing and color grading, bravo! Very well done!

Really accurate portrait of what you need to do to survive in my country. I really appreciate that you did it w/o judgement. I'm worried about you wearing River Plate clothes though, you can catch pneumonia if you put ice so close to your body.
Eye opening documentary! Makes you rethink the value of bitcoin, it's not just an investment... it's a technology that could really better humanity. I think I'll add a little to my allocation. Wishing the best for Argentina.
Peter, the saddesst part of this great content is that you have difficulties transfering money over the blockchain. I know your statistics say macro, but you have the ability to improve UX for all of us. Take a leap and make your next ‘bull run’ into improving crypto UX.
I very much enjoyed the film and I really feel for the people. I did try donating using the QR code at the end using the Strike app and was told the address was invalid.
Los pobres, siempre los pobres pagan La Inflación que los políticos generan para sus propios intereses y para mantenerse siempre cerca del Poder... Gracias por reflejarlo Peter
Argentina is like a shiny new Mercedes that never got an oil change or a a tune-up, never got a wash, never got new tires or brake job after 100 years.
always fascinates me when people can complain about inflation and all sorts of other government programs BUT STILL vote that direction because 'muhhh social programs' without being able to connect the dots that social programs are a huge driver of inflation and government corruption
The fact that the blue $ exchange rate is now 1000 peso's on the $ makes you realize how bad the inflation is there. :( Great video Pete, keep these coming!
This makes my stomach churn. Most of us here are probably lucky enough to live somewhere with reletively low inflation, but inflation is still theft and a leak in the system. We must all work to educate the world about Bitcoin.
Peter, a few months ago, you hosted a program where you interviewed someone who investigated the relationship between the IMF and peripheral economies like ours and the destruction they cause. In that program, you attempt to show how the IMF is an enemy of Bitcoin. In that framework, you are closer to shedding light on these issues. Unfortunately, in this documentary, you propose solutions and economic models that, as I mentioned in the previous message, were extensively implemented in those periods (the military dictatorship of the 1970s and the 1990s with Menem). The results were catastrophic, and if there's one thing that happened in both periods, it was a massive increase in our debt to the IMF.
"By a continuing process of inflation, governments can confiscate, secretly and unobserved, an important part of the wealth of their citizens. By this method they not only confiscate, but they confiscate arbitrarily; and, while the process impoverishes many, it actually enriches some." - John Maynard Keynes
@@WombatGamesChannela struggle to call him evil when judged as a person of his era. He was irreverent, flamboyant, brilliant, mercurial, two faced, self-assured, a dangerous trader.... He wasn't genocidal, thuggish, ignorant or many other qualities that might fairly fetch the epithet of evil. Sounds like you think he isn't in your tribe.
Amazing Peter. This is great. You should Visit Nigeria for the African version of this. As we speak the dollar rate is 1050 Naira. Last year it was 450-600. I'll be glad you did this in Nigeria. Bitcoin fixes this😊
"Hayek said that in the socialist vocabulary, when you add the 'social' term as an adjective to every noun, it turns out to be it's antonym" Wow, I've read a decent amount of Hayek but never come across this quote, it's quite profound; and how prescient it is still today. Also great job on the documentary Peter, really enjoyed this one.
