Follow this Free Pattern to Knit a Mitered Square 

Learning to knit a mitered square is a great way to practice Knit 2 Together (K2TOG) and Slip, Slip, Knit (SSK) decreasing knit stitches!
Free Pattern:
1) Cast On 64 Stitches
2) Knit every stitch
3) Knit 30 Stitches, Knit 2 Together, Place Marker, Slip Slip Knit, Knit 30 stitches
Repeat the next 2 rows 26 more times each:
1) Knit every stitch
2) Knit to 2 stitches before the Marker, Knit 2 Together, Slip Marker, Slip Slip Knit, Knit to the end of the row
To slip the marker, simply remove it from the left needle and slide it onto the right, next to the most recently "worked" stitch.
