I got one lesson from Bradley. It’s no coincidence, but he had me throwing 90-100ft upshots and had me drilling my follow through. He just wanted me to focus on my follow through on every shot. Need less distance? Don’t reach back as far, or perhaps don’t reach back at all. Bradley’s form is absolutely fantastic. I want to be like Bradley when I grow up! (Spoiler: I’m older than Bradley 😅)

Yeah, his follow through is so pronounced I had no other option than to choose him as my example. Besides which: We all want to be Bradley when we grow up!

The follow through is so important for your throw and avoiding injury. Thank you Doc, just what I've been working on lately!

Coming from a competitive tennis background our coach would have us think about three key elements. 1. Racket back then brace 2. Keep your weight behind the brace then 3. Hit through the ball towards your target. Similar concept but with slightly different arm position and movement. When I need a swing key to help me, I think to myself, stay behind the ball and hit through it. Works for me particularly throwing a backhand. Your gentleman's forehand reminds me of a tennis forehand as well. Just my thoughts and they may not give a good swing though to one’s that haven’t played competitive tennis. 🤔

Love this. Going to try and play smooth and not focus on power today, and add this into my work this week!

This is the topic that is currently on my mind. Thanks for the valuable insights (as usual).

Yeah, when I throw badly, it usually shows in the follow thru, too!

@@dgspindoctor I also feel it's the main aspect of having an elegant form. When I film myself it's always the follow-through that makes me cringe the most. 😅 Thanks to this video, Bradley Williams is my new favourite disc golfer. Thanks again!

This video came at the perfect time for me. I played my first tourney yesterday and nearly got last in MA4 despite throwing 400 feet. Upshots were a complete mess, I think implementing this could help tremendously.

Just came back to say that I beat my PB at my local long course by 1 stroke, in part bc I had a tunnel standstill that required a perfect backhand, and I used this and nailed it!

I had worked on this concept last year, and this swing thought actually helped me win a tournament. Somehow I ended up losing it, though.

Sometimes you forget the important things when something new comes up. Hopefully this was the reminder you needed.

The Beto drill helps with this as if taught properly it emphasizes from the "power pocket" out, aka follow through. Do the beto for smooth not distance.

I'm pretty new to DG and haven't seen Bradley throw before. However his smooth form looks very similar to Mason Ford's (at least to my untrained eyes). I saw him in Scott Stokely's "nicing" video and was instantly amazed at how far, smooth and effortless Mason's throws looked. I think Mason braces better, similar to your throw, but what do you think?
@dgspindoctor

Mason might brace a little stronger than Brad, yeah.
