I had this issue with supermatics. Hask size L bindings with 11.5 salomon boots and by heel constantly got caught on the back trying to step in, even with the middle strap loosened. I was only able to easily step in if I loosened up the top strap which is not how I want to ride. Have burton step ons now, which have their own issues, but work better for me.
@@Gretschi In Burton sizing I think 10.5 is 43.5 and Nidecker says 10.5/44/28.5 is the upper limit for L (but also that you should test with the actual boot and binding). My Photons are US 11, EUR 44, Mondo 29.0. I have the XL Supermatics and they work fine, but there is a bunch of room to spare. I've actually been thinking of selling them if I can find some Ls, but after watching this video, probably not.
I've been using Supermatics this season & as in your video, the boot on outer heel has bene worn, so much so that I've had to tape it to save it wearing through the leather. Six 9 boots & large bindings. Not so good really; never had this wearing with strap in bindings
It looks like a sizing issue as well as an issue with that awkward lip on the back of the burton boot but you could try what I do with my flow bindings, I regularly spray them with silicone lubricant on all surfaces that comes in contact with my boots, it just slips in there so much easier.
This is why I paired it with NIDECKER boots. Come on guys. Yes you can technically wear it with “any” boot but it’s just not gonna work how it was intended with Burton boots lol
What size are your boots/bindings? I have Burton Rulers in a 10 Wide and a set of Large Supermatics and there is A LOT more space between the sides of my boot and the sides of my bindings than I'm seeing in your video - the heel area of the boot doesn't touch much of the binding until the very back of the heel (just before the bevel) touches the roller. By the time the toe of my boot is seated in the front binding strap, the heel is on the roller. Made a video response, with my own setup: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pbe-v6-nuDw.html
@@walterpan I threw together real quick video of my set up to show you the difference, even though we have very similar sizes: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pbe-v6-nuDw.html
It's not the issue with lubricating the rollers or the plastic gas pedal. It's not the issue with the heel of the boot. The issue is the toebox of the boot. Any boots that are not rounded/snubnose like Vans or DC will run into this hard/sticky/difficultly/issue.
Two things, you might have the wrong size of binding for your boot, and second, the issue might just be the shape of your boot. I have been on supermatics for the last two years with zero issues, I also ride with nidecker boots though. It's hard for nidecker to guarantee this won't be an issue with every single pair of boots on the market, but your boots may fall into a small percentage of boots out there that can relate.
Same problèm with every rear entry bindings. You can't have the right snug fit. Because you always need to size up the binding. Which is something i dont like. I am back with traditional bindings and i will look at step ons when Salomon launches something to compete with burton. The base plates on those step in/on bindings and particularly clew are just bulls**** compare to traditional nitros unions salomon and others.
That’s why I haven’t tried them. No different than flow and they were tearing up the back of my boot. CLEW is the best binding on the market! Try a pair and you will be happy!!!😎
